Just got back from a 10 night stay at this wonderful site, lovely welcome from Linda, the owner, such an easy set up, and the facilities were spotless and we made good use of them, we would highly recommend and hope to re visit in the near future. Thank you Linda for a great holiday Jackie & Graeme x
Model CL
Just back from four nights at South Lambs Hill. This has to be one of the best CL's on the network, access and layout could not be better. Fully serviced widely spaced pitches, EHU, water, grey waste plus your very own toilet and outdoor kitchen sink, both with hot and cold water located on each pitch, and immaculately presented. Your hosts Linda and David are obviously intent that your stay is as pleasant and easy as possible. The far reaching views from the site and lovely sunsets add to the beauty of the surroundings. Approximately one hour drive to Keswick for market days, or generally touring the Lake District, Solway aircraft museum 15 minute drive, if you want to climb inside the Vulcan cockpit. Pleasant driving in surrounding countryside, cannot recommend this site highly enough, will certainly return.
Lovely stopover
We only stayed here for one night to break our journey from Somerset to Scotland but would happily have stayed for longer. Got a bit lost finding it but Linda was very helpful and came to see us after we’d arrived. Amazing views and sheer luxury to have our own toilet and washing up facilities. As another reviewer has said, the only dog walking is along quiet roads although there is a field at the bottom of the road where you can let them off the lead. Would definitely recommend.
Ultimate peaceful destination.
If you want to escape any noise, busyness and chaos then this is the site for you. This is so remote from towns and villages it’s bliss if you are looking for that destination. Linda is extremely attentive and small touches make it better; yes you have your own toilet and sink / Washing up facilities and also water, grey waste and electricity on each plot, but also recycling, a decking area and views of rolling countryside.
It is remote; there aren’t any local facilities (pubs shops etc) and you need to use your van shower but as it’s a serviced pitch this is pretty easy. Local walks are limited to roads because everywhere is farmed however the roads are deserted and we did over 15 miles of walks when we were there for 4 days. Gretna is very close as are other places of interest to visit, plus whilst it’s remote, access is generally very easy with decent roads and no steep hills or tiny tracks. Blocks are also provided.
We would definitely return.

The Best
What an amazing site this is, we stayed for a week in late September and we’re completely blown away by the site, the views and the attention to detail by Linda and her husband. Yes it is top money but worth every penny. Big fully serviced hard standing pitches, your very own toilet, sink and if required outdoor washing up facilities.
Easy access to the site even for the biggest vans.
Plenty to see in the area, but would definitely recommend Vindolanda.
We will be back !
Awesome!
Exceptional site; peace, tranquility and your own private bathroom - what more can you want! Immaculatly kept grounds, friendly (but not intrusive) owners. Can't recommend this place highly enough and will return. No public transport nearby but plenty of parking in Longtown to get public transport to Carlisle, Annan, etc.Thank you Linda for a wonderful stay and wishing you all the best for the future.
A beautiful place to stay
This site is everything you could want for a peaceful stay. We arrived 1st April 2023 and stayed just 3 nights on our way up through to Falkirk and we have enjoyed our stay thoroughly. Easy to get to and well signposted, the setup was easy and the owners were lovely and even brought along fresh eggs! Fully serviced pitches and your own cabin with W/C facilities to use. The weather was kind to us which allowed us to fully embrace the stunning views from the pitches with a glass of wine and garden chair looking out over the hills. Couldn't have asked for anything more, we would definitely reccommend and will certainly stay again if we travel up north (a great stopping point for those travelling north!) Definitely go into Gretna if staying here, its only 10 minutes drive and the history is amazing. Thank you Linda and David for a lovely stay!
So peaceful and calm
We spent 2 nights at this site. It is a lovely scenic site. Adults only site, was great if you like peace and quiet. The owners are really lovely people and welcomed us into the site. The pitches are large enough to get caravan/motorhome, awning and car on. Excellent amenities as stated private toilet, wash hand basin, hot and cold water. Sink for washing up, electric hook up, water supply and grey water disposal.
Loved it and would definitely call again
Thank you Linda and David

A great holiday
This is a perfect site for those seeking peaceful surroundings with far reaching views and great sunsets, Fully serviced pitches with individual toilet, wash basin and washing up sink are an added bonus. For enthusiastic cyclists, there are numerous fantastic routes in the area on quiet roads. Hadrians Wall, Kielder Forest and.Water and even the northern Lakes are all options for great trips out. Linda and David, the owners, made us very welcome and we will definitely be returning to what is for us the best CL site we have stayed on.

Wonderful welcome
Fantastic views, large fully serviced pitches and each with its own loo and washing facilities , fully enclosed dog walk, chem waste disposal, grey waste.
Most of the pitches slope. It ididn’t bother us.
Linda the owner was very helpful and friendly. Could not do enough for us on booking or arrival. Great communication from start to finish.
We stayed in a 10mtr motorhome so size and access is good.
