Great Site For Winter In Lovely Location.

We used this site March 2017 to meet up with family, they in their caravan, us in our motorhome. Being winter, we needed hard standing the electric hook-ups were luxury for us, we don't usually bother. This site fitted the bill although I was concerned with the proximity to the A591 and traffic noise. As it happened, it rained all of our time here so we were indoors and didn't really hear traffic noise! The site has seven pitches, (for some reason) that are well spaced out and most have room for an extra vehicle. A beck flows alongside one side of the site with a small fall behind the top of the site. By the time we left, this was a foaming white mass, roaring down the slope but never encroached onto the site, even though Keswick had a flood warning out! We had to walk up to the farm to pay (which was no problem) and also bought fresh farm eggs. There are footpaths round and about and one goes right through the site and up to Raven Crag, which I didn't quite make in the torrential rain. I did spot a deer and a fox crossed right in front of me. Keswick is only 3 miles away and Thirlmere and Derwent Water very close.Close to Helvellyn and other peaks so an ideal site for the enthusiastic walker. As for us, apart from me having a couple of walks from site, we didn't feel the urge to leave site, owing to the weather. We simply enjoyed the murky, misty views from the vans! Considering the location of this site (incidentally, the oldest CL on the network) it's nice to realise the owners are not greedy and the overnight fee remains at £11 in 2017.
