Lovely little site

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2019, and had a lovely time. The site is perfect for the all year round dog friendly beach with Sutton On Sea one way and Mablethorpe the other. Tim was very helpful on arrival. We didn't use the facilities as we had no need to, and will definitely be back.

Beach-goer's delight!

We stayed for 2 nights mid March but would have loved to have stayed longer! Tim and Dee were extremely friendly and having only taken this site on last year, it IS a work in progress. However, it is very clear that they are working hard to improve the site; lovely little borders with Spring flowers around the edges, a wet room for use whilst they wait for planning permission to renovate the original toilet/showers. "Steptoe's Yard" is no more... Look beyond what needs to be done and it will be a super site. The real beauty is the fact that you only have a minute's walk to the beach and what a beach!! Great for surfing... We watched the sunrise one morning sitting on the sea wall, just stunning! There is no Wi-Fi although the handbook states there is, Tim has asked for this to be amended. We will definitely return!

Has potential

This is a great location, straight onto the beach and half hour walk into Mablethorpe. Reviews were good and the owners Facebook page looked good, so I emailed asking for a hard standing pitch . . . I knew it would be wet and muddy in February, hence I asked for hard standing. All ok, good communication from the owner with instructions on how to find them. Arrived on site and we were shown to a grass pitch! Hubby said it's not a hardstanding, which Tim advised was a grass covered hard standing . . . There was at least 3 inches of mud and grass and no hardcore to be seen! Not what we had expected or wanted and ended up traipsing mud into the van. We were pitched with 5 other vans around the base of a large shed that's been knocked down and parts of the brickwork were still visible. There were also the remains of a bonfire and piles of rubble covered by tarpaulin, the site generally resembled 'Steptoes yard' The owner provided the electrical cable, we couldn't find where it was plugged in so when we had no power one morning we had no idea what was wrong and the owner wasn't answering his mobile! I would imagine in the summer on the grass pitches closer to the beach it would be more pleasant. Whilst we had a nice time we won't return to this site. At £15 a night it's reasonably priced but it could do with a tidy up. Given 3 star review based on location, if it was further inland it would be 2 star. With investment this site could be a little gem.

Great access to miles of Lincolnshire coast

We stayed at Breakwater Touring Caravan & Motorhome Park [a CL] for 4 nights in early November 2018. The website access instructions are spot on but the lane down to the site entrance is a bit narrow, esp. if other cars are parked on the side of the road. Whilst the site is predominantly grass, there are two dedicated hardstandings just off the entrance road. One was a tight fit for our 7.5m long motorhome &, even though we were as far back as we could go, we still slightly blocked the entrance road. The drinking water tap & refuse bins are adjacent to the site but the CDP is back up the track towards the owners house - just behind what looked to be a mobile toilet/shower block well past it’s usefulness. Thus there are no toilets or showers available on this site at the moment. The attraction of the site for us was that you can walk through the gate at the bottom of the site, over the dunes & concrete promenade onto miles of sandy beach. In the winter months dogs are allowed on all the beaches but, in summer, restrictions do apply in certain areas. So it is best to check exactly where you can & can’t allow your dogs to “beach comb”! As Trusthorpe is equidistant between Mablethorpe & Sutton on Sea you are spoilt for choice as to which way to head. The promenade runs beyond both towns and is awash with walkers, cyclists, dogs & mobility scooters! A good “find” and one to return to in the future.

Great site

We stayed on the site for just short of two weeks in July and had a great stay. Tim and Dee gave us a very warm welcome and provided information on the layout and took the time to explain their vision for the site given that they only took ownership earlier in the year. The site it's self is level with easy access to water and Elsan point. Through the small site gate and you were onto the promenade and it's lovely beach which allowed dogs and ours loved the sea. The site is equidistance from Mablethorpe and Sutton -on-Sea around 20 minutes walk and a nice stroll along the prom on the evenings was a perfect end to the days and its lit up if you wanted to stay out later. In the main the pubs and cafe's were all dog friendly which made things easier and access to the rest of the coast, Skegness and Louth is within a short drive. Would we return to this site...absolutely

Lovely welcome

I had a lovely welcome from Tim and Dee, they have just took over the small site and they seem determined to make it a very pleasant and peaceful stay, I am very reluctant to say what an excellent few days I had there as I want to keep it quiet but in all fairness to Tim and Dee I could not do it justice by just telling you, so if you don’t mind using your own on board facilities may i suggest you give it a try for yourselves ( you won’t be disappointed).

Peaceful couple of days

This site is a peaceful little haven away from the roads where you can lay in bed listening to the waves lapping on the beach which is just a stones throw away..I personally think that without toilet or shower facilities £13 a night is a bit steep ..The lack of the facilities wasn't a worry for us as we had our own but think £10 a night would be more fitting..We met one of the owners called Clare and she seemed very nice.Told us we can go when we want and pitch up where we like, very warm and welcoming ..Walked up to Sutton on Sea when we were there and it takes about 30 mins on the lovely lit promenade ..Will definitely be going back to this site ..( the mrs had the best two nights sleep that she has had in years)..lovely little CL site !!!!

Nice site but selfish CC members

We have  been to this site at least 6 times with our grandson and have always enjoyed ourselves mainly owing to close proximity to beach, bus stop near and attractions of Mablethorpe. Also the owners are very nice and allow you to pitch where you wish. However this year one member took advantage of this by coming with caravan, large awning, one medium sized tent, two smaller tents, toilet tent and 3 vehicles. Totalling 12 people(some children)on one pitch. Therefore as we were last to arrive minimum space left for us on this small site.Although not excessively noisy it felt like this extended family had taken over the site and taken advantage of the owners good nature. We shall not be returning.

Good location

just returned from a week at Shamrock ... as other reviews exept good electric point ... never tripped all week ... handy for the lovely beach .. could definately use a water point at the chemical toilet emptying point though .. more like a £10 a night site than the £13 charged. Good flat field and sheltered from the wind by a big dune! p.s. I had no mobile signal all week .. decide for yourself whether this is a good point or not Wink
