Last minute booking!

Should have been in Cornwall but due to being in tier 3, had to cancel. As the van was all packed up booked this CL the morning as we arrived in the afternoon. Very pleasantly surprised nicely laid out with views over the river, quiet and peaceful, serviced pitches, hard standing with grass surround. Walks down to the river but was very muddy underfoot. Maybe a bit isolated as have to travel a few miles but lots to see in the area. The site changed hands when we were there so wether things will change on site not sure. Thought was very reasonably priced for a service pitch.

Excellent Site

Lovely, clean & tidy site with outstanding views. Owner John was friendly and helpful, as were our fellow caravanners. Each pitch has electric hook-up and water supply...everything else we had with us! We had a lovely takeaway meal from The Station pub in Caton - this appears to be the nearest pub, as the 2 in Hornby have now closed down. But the warm welcome was well worth travelling the extra couple of miles. We had an amazing, tranquil, relaxing 3 days and will be returning in the near future.

Loved it

Stayed Sept 2019 for 6 nights. Access not a problem with a bit of care. Single track lane but most of it just a cul-de-sac to the farm so no traffic. Competence in levelling may be needed. Gravel hardstanding with grass between pitches. Water and grey waste on most pitches. Very rural. Very quiet. Lovely position above River Lune. A drive to shops and pubs. Beautiful area generally.

Breathtaking views without loos

The views are wonderful. The site is so tranquil and tidy, although my husband would have liked the weeds removed on each hardstanding. Just a note of detail he said. Be careful on the last half mile on the single track as it's tight but the end result is worth it. Unfortunately for us the last part of our experience was a real drag.... Flies, flies and more flies. Outside, inside and anywhere you care to mention. Fly screens, closed doors, nothing deterred the critters from our van. Maybe it was the pitch, maybe the time of year, but by the end we were demented by them.

Highly recommended site

Stayed here April 2019, beautiful site, I think enough has been said already about the views. Again as mentioned in other reviews the site is on a hillside however If you can pick one of the 2 right hand side pitches as these seem more level, there were caravans on the other side and they seemed to have no issues getting level, my motorhome needed 1 ramp on the front right to get near enough for us. Having drainage on each pitch and water points on all but the right side which shared one should be a blueprint for all CL’s as it makes life so much easier, and at £14 a night inc electric it’s a bargain. The access road is very narrow with a tight turn after a bridge, I was towing a car however and had no,problem, as the title says I highly recommend this site and I will stay again in the future.

peaceful

Just spent four days chilling out, Site basic but has everything you need,(levelling blocks a must) the surrounding view and the peace and quiet more than make up for the sloping pitches. Had the site to myself but totally selfishly enjoyed the tranquillity, wildlife abundant and John the owner made sure I had everything i needed. Well worth a visit if your in the area, Thank you...me and the "boy'z" will be back

A little gem

This has to be the most peaceful site with the best views that we have ever stayed at. The view down the valley is beautiful. John, the owner is friendly and helpful and the site is well managed. My Motorhome has a long wheelbase and not a good turning circle, but I didn’t have any access problems. A couple of the pitches could do with levelling, but with levelling chocks we were fine. It is a great location for dogs and Alfie loved it. There is a very large secure field to give the dog a good run. Being fairly close to the M6 and open all year, it will be a handy stopover on our regular trips to Scotland. We will be back.

A friendly site with the most fantastic view and walks

In spite of our worries about the sharp bend on the bridge and the single track road to the site, actually access was really good; there are plenty of passing points. ~~On arrival we were overawed by the site's setting-slight hill overlooking the valley and the river where we watched otters fishing from the comfort of our 'van. February half term meant we had a choice of pitches-(actually the whole place to ourselves for most of the week which selfishly we love, but come on folks where are you-this is a great place at a bargain price, well placed for the coast or Lake District and loads to do in the immediate vicinity too) some are quite sloping front to back so make sure you have levelling blocks-it was our first time on a sloping site but a quick wander down to the river bank saw us returning with some suitably sized rocks that did the tricks- we got the 'van level without too much difficulty. The site is lovely and peaceful-but there might be a bit of road noise as there is road on the opposite side of the valley that is a bikers route but we didn't hear much more than the resident owl. Situation for us was perfect-well away from anyone, with FANTASTIC walks all around which we fully explored but with a nearby village and town for provisions and fuel. Wellies in Feb are very recommended! The icing on the cake was the friendly and helpful nature of the owner of the site-nothing seemed to be too much trouble and he passed by regularly to check the site and offer help and advice if needed. He had some great suggestions for walks and nearby shops etc- he really is an absolute delight, as is the site-we're not ones for going back to a place since our country is a big place but this site is superb and we most definitely will!

Excellent value and great views

Stayed 4 nights October 2017. Fully serviced pitch Inc water, waste and 16amp electric for £14 a night. Great value. The views from 3 of the pitches are over the river Lune. The entrance road at the side of the site is used for the farm only so is very quiet. The approach is quite narrow with a few passing places but hardly any traffic so not really a problem. John one of the owners stated they were planning on putting more passing places in the road which would help those who are not too confident towing down narrow lanes. The pitches do require levelling blocks for the front but side to side is pretty much level. Again John said the plan was to level the pitches during this winter. They only opened last year but aim to make it even better with a TV booster and possibly WiFi for those that require it, this is a good area for dog walking and there is a walk from the site by the river. Boots required in the wet. Great as a base for numerous visitor attractions in Lancashire, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Has a basic Elsan emptying point and recycling but could do with a notice of what goes in which bin. John checked to make sure everything was ok and at the time of staying we could pitch where we wanted. A good length of water hose is required if you want to use the tap on the 1st pitch. Weather not too good for us but a lovely peaceful stay and a place I would recommend and return to in future. Any future improvements will only add to the potential this site has to offer. The views over the river are second to none. Thank you John and keep up the good work diversifying your farm.

We loved this site, very peaceful and scenic, highly recommended

We loved this site! We were only booked for 4 nights but ended up staying three times longer as it was so perfect for us, and luckily they could fit us in for the extra nights. Very peaceful site, very pretty views, close to lots of interesting places, perfect area for visits to the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and the coast. We are fairly new to caravanning, but managed the lane into the site without any trouble, plenty of passing places if needed. Similarly, no problem accessing the site through the gate, plenty of swing room. We met the owner a few times, so friendly and helpful and knowing my husband was fairly new and nervous to the towing, offered to escort us on our departure, if we felt at all nervous about it, which was very kind but which we didn't need to take him up on. We will definitely be returning in the future, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.
