Owners are nice people, a pleasant chat with both. A very nice, well kept, little site. A clean, tidy single toilet and shower, (50p). Metered electricity. A small shopping center just down the road. Easy to get to the Basin and Maldon, which probably has one of the best parks in the country running alongside the river.
Bank Holiday weekend spent at this great CL
We have just returned after 4 nights at this great CL !! A warm welcome by the owners and the site set up explained due the recent great British weather, several hardstanding pitches and a lovely grassed area (drying out to protect it) all beautifully maintained.
The site is in a great location within a 10 minute walk to the Heybridge Basin and 2 pubs (be sure to book the Jolly Sailor) and from there access to the Coastal paths. We walked East 5 miles to Goldhangar (TheChequers) and returned along the same route and also into to Maldon which has 3 routes -along the sea defence Coastal Path / a long the river or you can walk the footpath along the road into the town.
Maldon is a very nice town with everything you would need and the promenade park area a great place to watch the world go by!!
Also close to the site are numerous fishing lakes, fish mongers & farm shops with great local produce and plenty of walks in-land.
The bonus is the site has a shower/toilet so good for motorhomers and electricity is metered (top idea) so pay for what you use - we managed to use about £4s worth during our stay.
Never been to Essex before and can't believe now that we never had.
Thoroughly recommend this site

A little gem
We were greeted by the friendly owners to this quiet, well kept and conveniently situated site.
It is ann easy 20 minute walk to the Yacht harbour at Heybridge Basin with its Tea Room and 2 pubs. There is a bus stop about 5 minutes walk away with regular services to Maldon and Chelmsford.
Facilities are modern and clean. We thought the metered EHU a great idea, and the site charge £18 per night very reasonable for this lovely site.
Would definitely recommend.
Great little find
My wife and I stayed here for two nights, it has 4 grass and one hard standing pitches all with power hook up, you have to put in £1 or £2 coins. The toilet is okay (very clean) and the shower is all new. You have to put in a 50p for 6 minutes, the shower works very well and is nice and hot. At £18 per night I can see why the owners ask you to pay for the electric, The pitches are quite big so that’s a bonus as most CL sites they are small. The owners are very accommodating and very polite. This is a fantastic little site not to far from Heybridge basin and Maldon. You with not be disappointed if you book this site. Highly recommend you book early as it can get busy.

3 Lovely Days/Nights
We stayed at Saltcote Hall in our Autotrail Tribute 625 m/home for 3 nights from 27/2/23. Easy to find and good access via concrete track & shingle drive. The pitches are perfectly level and we were told grids were available if the ground was soft but, even in February, this wasn't necessary but best check with the owners if there has been very wet weather. Very peaceful site, particularly as Essex is not considered the quietest county in the country! The toilet and shower was spotless with, praise be, an air hand drier powerful enough to remove your fingernails. A short walk to the River Blackwater coast and excellent walks into Heybridge Basin or out towards Goldhanger and further afield. Hosts are super friendly and helpful. A great site

Nice little site
Nice little site with plenty to do locally, dog walks etc. Only let down by the shower/toilets still being closed. Most other sites are open. If you are going to close them then please make a note on here so I can go elsewhere next time.
Loved this site
Just had 8 nights at this cl and enjoyed staying here very much, very nice people running the site will visit again. Plenty to see locally loved it.

A nice 2 night break
Although this site is only 45 mins from home we always enjoy our stay , been here several times and find it useful to meet up with family .
Owners very pleasant and friendly.

Will return .
A long weekend away in Essex!
Saltcote Hall CL in Heybridge, Maldon in Essex
Great little site ! Stayed for four nights, pay for electric by the meter which was no problem and hardly used a £1 daily, so don’t worry..The entrance is nearly opposite a lane that takes you to the River Chelmer Blackwater navigation, and the car park is free where you can launch your kayak, sup or canoe or walk along the river bank.
Fab pub and river cafe too
Not far to Mersea Island if you fancy the coast 🛶
Very relaxing 😌
Good well located site
The site is well located a short walk from Maldon and Heybridge. I was initially concerned about metered electricity but used less than £4 over three nights. There was noise in the afternoons and early evening from a nearby sports club but nothing too intrusive. We didn’t use the toilet or shower so can’t comment on those but the site itself is well kept and level.
I can recommend the lock tea rooms and the Jolly Sailor in Heybridge and the Barge tea room in Maldon. The Thames barge trip was good fun.
