Magic

What a lovely and well kept site and very nice owners, very quiet and easy access to the surrounding countryside , fuel and shops 10 minute drive away. Also sorts of wildlife including red squirrels. This is a site we will return to often.

Thank you for a lovely stay

Stayed here for 5 nights July 2017 very peaceful, well run site. We really enjoyed our stay here and our pitch was well suited for our twin axle with a lovely view of the river.

The primes

Loved this site bliss. We booked on this site over the Easter bank holiday until 20th April so 6 nights in all. A fantastic location and very well laid out site. The toilet and shower a little unusual but clean, warm and worked well. The area is outstanding we loved the common and to see the Fell ponies only ventured to the lakes once as so much to do all around us most of the time on the site there was only two vans and the smell of the wild garlic along the river bank was lovely. All in all outstanding, it would of been nice to meet the site warden just for a quick hello my only small gripe.

Peaceful retreat

We visited the start of August it was lovely and peaceful, we were advised the best way to pitch the caravan to get the best views. We had some lovely nearby walks. Shame not walking distance to a pub

Swallows and Amazons in 2016!

This is a really good place to stay! We had a wonderful holiday (despite awful weather). This CL is quaint, in a lovely location and so well cared for. We pitched close to a tree (already hung with bird feeders) and bought some feed. Imagine our joy when, next day we had over 15 different species of birds.... THEN a red squirrel adopted us! Unable to see us watching (literally 3 feet away behind our window) he/she? (not into sexting squirrels) ate all the peanuts and wanted more. (Video and pics available folks). The separate WC and shower huts are a revelation! I liken them to a 1940's Army Major's den. The wooden walls, books, pictures and all were so redolent of an age I thought long gone. The rivers - the site is at a confluence - were a wonderful to hear and lull us to sleep. Hence the Swallows and Amazons title. Highly recommended and no doubt why it was CL of the year! Go, go, go....

Perfect for first timers

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Riverside in July 2016.... This was our first outing as total newbies. We couldn't have chosen a better park or location. John was always on hand to answer our questions and lend a cheery helping hand. We also found this web site to be very helpful, interesting and appreciate the many tips. No doubt we will be referring to it for a while to come! We would definitely recommend Riverside and we are looking forward to returning. Dianne, Phil and Maisy

Our favourite CL by far.

Thanks again John & Dawn for another relaxing stay this July.

From the desription of the previous reviewer they must have been on our favourite pitch, (no.1) which you recommended we turn our caravan 90deg to be cross-ways, which is brilliant, as it becomes probably the most private pitch on the site, with scenic views of the river and associated wildlife in the foreground, and the northern fells on the horizon, "from both the caravan and awning".

Without making the 90deg turn on this pitch, you do have the option of watching the comings and goings of the Site Entrance.

The toilet, shower and price are just the ticket for us.

Good site for a stopover

Owner very welcoming on phone but abrupt when we met him. He insisted we turn van around to see the view which was quite disappointing and blocked by the high trees. The quirky toilet facilities were basic but sufficient although the site was well overpriced for what was provided.

Best CL we have stayed at so far

Idyllic spot, very well cared for, picnic tables on the riverbank, lovely warm toilet and shower in 2 sheds with red "engaged" lights outside so you didn't have to walk there to find someone was already using the facilities (brilliant idea) Spacious site, lit at night. All facilities close at hand. Shame we didn't meet the owners as we had paid in advance. Would certainly go back again.
