Jo P. Solo motorhomer and dogs.

Lovely greeting by Jackie and her new hip! I love plants and gardens and had long been wanting to visit this CL. It didnt disappoint. You drive down through the greenhouses full of the enticing greenery. The hard standing pitches are laden with decent sized rubble and did the job beautifully for my 7.5m vehicle. Access was fine. Behind the pitch was a tall hedge which led to a fantastic dog walk. It does have a public footpath onto it too, but it was little used when I was there. Places visited: Evesham, Hidcote Garden NT, Charleston House NT, Batford Arboretum, Kiftsgate Gardens (closed on a thursday in April). Tewksbury Abbey -magical and dog friendly, Stow, Broadway, Diddly Squat Farm shop, Adam Henson's Farm, Broadway Tower and Snowshill Manor NT. All this in 4 days and not too far away. Rails End charges for electricity on top of the daily rate. I used kettle x 4 per day, hairdrier once only, heating 15 mins on low once a day to take chill off in the evening. Phone charged up once. My bill was £7.14 for 4 days and nights. I think this is very acceptable and understandable. All in all. A fab CL the dogs, my friend who visited everyday, with permission from Jackie and I have had the most lovely stay and I am really looking forward to returning and trying out the pub this time!

Bucolic paradise that is dog friendly.

We are back at home now after a very good experience at this CL. We prioritize sites that have good walking for dogs nearby and are in a quiet location, a must for my wife. This location ticked all the boxes for our requirements, Brodi and Archi our lab & spaniel loved it there. We didn't need to use any hook up power as we are in bed by darkness at this time of year and use a fully charged up tablet for our entertainment. Everything is as other reviewers have stated but one must thoroughly recommend the Star Inn village pub, 5 minutes walk away. We walked the Fish Hill, Broadway Tower & village area in brilliant sunshine. Don't even try to park a motor home in Broadway, all car parks have 2 meter barriers. Daft really as they lose the grey spending power, we parked for free at the Cheltenham race course and took the wonderful GWSR heritage steam railway into Broadway, an hours paradise for train buffs (and back). We also visited Snowshill, NT property, seriously good, in my top 5 in the country. Great collection of an eccentric and less of those dreadful portraits of long gone relatives that the NT think we all should see. To park in Evesham use the Waitrose free car park, at off peak hours there's plenty of space. Jackie the site owner is very friendly and helpful and is a force of nature and highly organised, complete now with a new knee! This site comes highly recommended by my wife, dogs and of course your reviewer.

A Wonderful CL

We have just spent 3 days at Rails End, a lovely warm welcome from Jackie who showed us to our pitch. There are 3 hard standing pitches for this time of year, water, elsan disposal and a recycling bin.Grey waste goes into the hedge and the electricity is metered and read at the end of your stay, we feel this is an excellent idea you only pay for what you use. There are plenty of walks, an hourly bus service to Tewkesbury or Evesham and a fabulous pub in the village. The site is very quiet and surrounded by hedgerows giving a very rustic feel. A real bonus are the home made chutneys, marmalades and jellies. We absolutely loved it and will definitely be back. Thank you Jackie.

Fantastic Everything !!!!

Just spent the last 4 nights at Rails End Nursery and what a find for us. We look for sites that we can park the car up and not need to use and this site ticked the boxes for us. The site has just having 3 hard standing pitches finished off and then 3 grass pitches, which we had one of the grass pitches. Jackie and Andrew are the perfect hosts and on hand if you need. The site is on a bridle path and links you into to many other bridles paths, which was great for us with the dog. There is a small info shed on site with various laminated maps for using. The village is lovely and a 5 minute walk takes you to a fantastic pub, which does excellent food. Everyone in the village is so friendly and very welcoming. On-site electricity is metered and I was worried about this, but we averaged 5 units a day, so quickly my mind was put at ease. We will definitely will be returning and would recommend to anyone based on location, ease of access, the ability to pitch your van how you would like, local pub and the walking network available. Thank you Jackie and Andrew.

Friendly Hosts and tranquil surroundings

We have stayed here a number of times, most recently leaving 23rd August and are always made to feel very welcome. We have a larger vehicle and emptying on board tanks is never an issue. Pitches are well spaced and not regimented in direction / orientation, some being hard standing, some grass (well kept with weight spreading matting under most grass pitches). Site is tranquil, providing an opportunity to slow down and unwind. Lots of walks locally up Bredon Hill (information in the shed on site along with books, spare equipment, games and Jams / eggs for sale) and the pub serves excellent food within walking distance, as is the bus stop which can take you into Evesham or the other way into Tewkesbury running roughly hourly during the week (bus route 540) Lovely site that well deserved it's inclusion within 2021's CL site of the year where it came 2nd, nothing is ever an issue for Jackie and Andrew (the owners). We will be back!

Lovely site

This was our second time at Rails End and we had a lovely four days. Everything said in other reviewers' comments about the site itself, the welcoming and helpful owners, the shed with information, free range eggs, jams and chutneys for sale, and the surrounding area, is exactly what we'd have said. Jackie told us about the limit on electricity usage on arrival and it was stated clearly on the information provided in advance. It was easy to monitor our consumption and in fact it was quite a useful exercise. We had no difficulty in keeping within the limit and felt it was a very fair policy, particularly in view of recent increases in energy costs. So definitely no complaints there - the reverse in fact. Many thanks for an enjoyable few days - with the bonus of being able to purchase a hanging basket from the nursery!

Great site, lovely hosts - however!

We arrived at the site at about 7.00pm on Friday night, in the dark, for a weekend break. We were warmly welcomed by Andrew who showed us to where we could pitch. As we were the only ones on site and the grass was wet were given the option of siting next to the shed on some hard gravel. Andrew laid out an extension lead for us as we were now over 25m from the nearest EHU point. The peace of the night was only disturbed by owl hoots and the occasional pheasant. The next morning we walked around the site and it is a nice level site, well spaced out and peaceful, even during the day. We met Jackie, who is lovely, as she put some produce in the well stocked shed with jams, chutneys and eggs for sale. We had a wonderful relaxing weekend and were ready to go home after our Sunday lunch at the Star when came the BIG however. A £14.40 bill for electric usage above our 10 unit per day allowance! Yes, we have a big caravan but the heating (Alde set to 2kW) was set at 19 from 8am to 10pm and 11 from 10pm to 8am. We have a 750W kettle which was boiled four times. On Saturday we had a slow cooker running for about 7 hours, but this is rated at only 130W max. Other than that it was just the battery charger so we don’t think our usage is out of the ordinary, thus we are amazed that we apparently consumed over £20.00 worth of electricity in 41 hours. I don’t want to discourage anyone from visiting this site as the location is wonderful and the owners are friendly and welcoming, just be aware it may cost you a lot more than the £17.50 per night, quoted. We would certainly return but definitely won’t have EHU again.

Our First CL Site Holiday

What a wonderful experience for our first CL site booking. We arrived and received a very warm and friendly reception by Jackie. The site is in a tranquil location with easy access to local Pub and amenities. We found it ideal for visiting the Cotswolds, Malvern and surrounding area. Our pitch was spacious, private and had easy access to the dog walking area. A shed is available with local information, jam, chutney and eggs. Thanks Jackie for a relaxing peaceful holiday.

First ever CL site - why have I never been before?

This was our first ever stay at a CL and now I am looking at these first as our experience was wonderful. We stayed for two nights on our way from Cornwall to the Lake District and we could happily have stayed longer. Jackie was very helpful and welcoming, easy to contact for access. The site itself is so private and sheltered being surrounded by high hedges but still very sunny. There are fruit trees everywhere and a nice area to walk the dog. The shed with the jams and chutneys in was a great idea and everything was delicious. There is also a load of printed local walks in the shed that we used and were really useful. The pub up the road was also really good and only a 5 minute walk away. Well done Jackie in creating such a lovely place and thank you for a lovely stay.
