Experience will always overcome stupidity

Having read the reviews for Potland Farm Cottage I was a little unsure after reading the one star review. Then I read the following reviews and we booked for a three night stay. Glad we did. Access is easy, Sam and Mike are a wonderful couple ( love how Sam is described as Mike's daughter by one reviewer) and had all the time in the world for their visitors as well as having full time jobs. The site is mainly hardstandings with plenty of room between pitches. Lots to do in the area, small railway in the colliery park, towns to explore and a good selection of walks. Shower still in hand but Mike will get there one day. Excellent site unless you are a newbie motorhome driver

May Road Trip

Easy to follow directions and good access, providing you enter the second gate and not the first. Hardstanding for the caravan surrounded by grass. Toilet available - installation of the shower seems to be on hold but this doesn't bother us. Site services all clean and tidy. Friendly helpful owner who was out when we arrived but daughter did a sterling job of making us welcome Used this site to visit relatives so didn't see much of Northumberland but access to the coast etc would be easy from here. Limited area to exercise the dog because to reach the footpaths you had to use the road with no pavement so not particularly safe. If you're wanting to see this area of Northumberland this would make a good base and if we were up this way again we would certainly use Potland Farm Cottage CL.

Charming Site

Stayed late May for four nights. On arrival we were made very welcome by owner ,shown all the excellent facilities. We were on hard standing with freshly cut grass adjacent. A lovely peaceful site within easy reach of Alnwick.Morpeth,Amble etc. We will return.

Mature couple

Warm welcome and very helpful owner. Very easy access, particularly now the new road from the A1 to the north of Morpeth is open. Lots to see in the area, including the coast and National Trust/Englich Heritage properties. Weather not too good, but managed a lovely walk in the Simonside Hills - would have walked in the Cheviots if the weather had been better.

Potland Farm Cottage Easter 2017

This is the second CL site that we have stayed at and the welcome was fantastic! We had the whole site to ourselves, Mike put the hose out so that we could fill up without having to move our motorhome. The views were beautiful and the site was immaculate. In addition we could buy fresh eggs which were the best eggs we have ever had in our lives!! (all the pitches are hard standing so no sinking - please ignore the review about a person getting stuck in the grass! There is plenty of space to fill up if you need to move and all hardstanding, and yes you need a water hog its a CL site or empty on the road as you drive) Next door is an equestrian centre but there was little to no noise from people coming and going. About a 5min walk off site (road and well kept verges) we could walk to 2 nature reserves with the dogs, and beyond that there are miles of country walks to take, all the way to the coast if you enjoy a long ramble. A couple of miles down the road is another nature reserve with parking and access to the colliery's museum which is well worth a visit - free entry and just £3.50 to park. Lots of history to listen to as you walk around and great facilities. All in all, Sam and Mike made us feel very welcome, provided a box full of tourist info for places to go. We took the Moho to Craster via the costal route! Was a great day out. Local shops are under 10 mins drive away, Asda is height restricted but Lidl is not ☺. This is a fab site to stay at, friendly and very accommodating, I booked in advance as we have a 7.5m long Moho and was worried about access but the pitches are massive! We could have parked 3 of our mohos on our pitch alone. I would definitely recommend staying here, we will definitely be back again.

Good site for visiting local area.

Nice quiet CL ideal for visiting local attractions, only a short distance from the dunes and sandy beach at Cresswell, stayed for 5 nights in October and will certainly go back when we get the opportunity. Great CL with a friendly welcome from the owners on arrival.

LOVELY CL

Lovely quiet and well kept site. We cannot thank Mike enough for meeting us on our late arrival around midnight on 23rd Sept should have arrived early evening, we had such a bad journey from Hampshire, Mike pitched us temporarily overnight even offered to make us a cup of tea we will defiantly go back. Lots of places to visit

lovely site lots of places to go.

we have just had four nights 29th July to 2nd Aug what a lovely site and couple that run it, my only regret was that we only stayed for four nights but we have the holidays booked, one place you must visit is Cragside the first house in the world to have electric lights. the site was well laid out with plenty of room, the grass was kept very short, toilet lovely and clean and it looks like they are putting in a shower. this is a site that we will be returning to, you also get a folder full of local information that we found very helpful.

Lovely CL

We came here for a couple of days last year on our way to Scotland and looked forward to returning again this year to explore more of the area. We stayed for 7 nights in May. Mike and Sam were very friendly and helpful, giving us information on the area. It's a lovely clean and well laid out site. The long driveway from the road down to the pitches means the site is well away from the road keeping it nice and quiet. The grass was kept short and provides ample area for children to play safely. The water & bin area is well fenced off, there is also a toilet on site which was kept very clean.
