We booked this site as I was intrigued to know what makes a CL ‘Award Winning’, especially as we have stayed at some amazing CL’s over the years.
Well….from our arrival to our goodbyes Louise and Greg took hospitality to the highest level. I completely echo the review from ‘michele67’. Our dogs, Poppy and Lottie also enjoyed their welcome pack, followed by a run in the huge dog exercise field. They even got a chance to use the doggy wash after a muddy visit to Lydford Gorge!
Louise’s food was absolutely amazing we sampled her roast dinners, lasagna, meat pies, Eton mess, cheesecake as well as a complimentary cream tea. All delivered to our van by the very friendly Greg. We would come back just for the food alone!
The site is central to tour both coasts. Day outs for us included Bude on the north coast of Cornwall and Looe on the south coast.
We left Poole Farm knowing what makes a CL ‘Award Winning’. It’s two amazing hardworking people, who are passionate about their site and ensure that club members come away feeling like we have, michele67 and all the 5 star reviewers that you read on here.
Immaculately maintained site in peaceful surroundings. The host couple can not do enough for you. You can have breakfast, pasties, croissants, various meals delivered to your door, even a roast!
Great little shop selling essentials and a range of home cooked meals. There would be no need to cook all week !
All the facilities and more, well organised and managed.
This site is an absolute gem we couldn’t love it more , arrived as usual with the welcoming of Greg who greets us and offers us a nice welcoming tea or coffee and biscuit which is very nice after a long journey. Also our girls molly and daisy our springers get a lovely welcoming pack on arrival too . The site is so well kept with a great dog walk and stream for them to have a dip in . The amenities …are spotless , I fab shower room with also a sink and toilet with toiletries if you wish to use them , i separate toilet with sink again spotless , a doggy shower , and then another room with sink to wash pots , washing machine , dryer , iron and mini ironing board , also in this room are home made Jams , pickles , chutneys etc to purchace and a freezer with homemade meals in to purchase that Lou has fabulously made … hubbys favourite steak and kidney pie !!! Breakfast Lou does are so delicious and they set you up for the day , and not forgetting an complimentary cream tea I could go on and on about this gorgeous site but honestly we highly recommend it , nothing is no trouble for the fab couple …. We just cannot keep away 😍
We had read a lot about this CL and it lived up to all our exceptions and more. We booked for 7 nights and have booked again for 2024. We were welcomed by Greg who showed us all the facilities and gave us coffees which after a 7 hour journey was much appreciated. We had contacted Greg prior to leaving to ask if we could order an evening meal on our first night. We were e mailed a menu and sent in our order. The menu resembles one you would see in a quality restaurant at very reasonable prices. We had meals and deserts on 4 evenings and all were demolished. The Sunday roast should not be missed. Our dog loved the dog wash which had warm water, she hates cold water. The dog walk is great and the swing seat at the top gives an elevated view of the whole site. The site was immaculate in every way, we could not fault anything. It is so tranquil we did not venture off the site for 2 days of our stay. Greg and Lou are great hosts and make you most welcome. Pease note the directions given to get to the site and ignore the sat nav or you could be directed down a road with a 2m wide bridge, not good news if you are towing a caravan.
We stayed only one night as accompanying friends on a cycle route from Lands End to Johns O Groats. Although the site was full Gregg and Lou kindly fitted us in by their barn. We had a superb meal for dinner and an excellent cooked breakfast all hand delivered to the van. The site is very well cared for and the attention to detail for guests comfort is second to none.
A litte gem.
Chanced upon this absolute gem a few years ago - chosen originally purely on location - but what a find!!
Site and facilities are pristine. Greg and Louise keep everything immaculate. They are such lovely people and cannot do enough to make your holiday as good as it can be.
Greg kindly helped us set up and Louise provides home-cooked meals delivered to the caravan - what a superb treat - no cooking or washing up and we can both have a glass or two. Menu choice is excellent (main and dessert) - better than typical pub and Sunday sees a roast dinner, and yes it does get even better - luscious cream tea provided as a welcome gift.
With electric hook up, serviced pitches, shower, toilet, dog wash, information hut with washer, dryer and iron and dishwasher area what more could you ask for?
Plenty to see and do in the area - we love National Trust properties and there are plenty but if you want peace and tranquility then this is the site for you.
Arrive on site to a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner Greg, after showing us to our pitch was given a very informative brief on the facilities and made to feel very welcome, outstanding welcome pack which included treats for our 2 dog in their own named bags ( lots of personal touches goes along way). The site was very clean and well maintained, great dog exercise area and the site being very peaceful. The facilities are spotlessly clean and to a very high standard
We will be returning for long next time, loved everything about it. The best CL sites we have ever been too. It is a credit to the owners.
Thank you so much.
A holiday at this site is an absolute treat. The pre-arrival communication was spot on and on arrival we were welcomed with an excellent information pack, personalised welcome card and dog biscuits plus poo bags for our two travelling companions. The site is immaculate, each pitch being fully serviced and beautifully laid out.
As per previous reviews have stated the facilities offered are above and beyond what you would expect and all maintained to the highest standard. A beautifully heated shower room, with shower caps, cotton buds, and radio provided really make your holiday special.
Evening meals and breakfast are on offer and during our stay we booked a Sunday lunch - wow what a treat - at the agreed time Greg the owner turned up at our caravan with the most wonderful Sunday roast complete with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, gravy and sauces - half an hour later a super crumble arrived! This is what memories are made of.
Greg and Lou certainly know the meaning of customer service and provide this in such a friendly and warm manner you feel you are staying with friends. This was our first trip away this year and what a way to start , the bar has really been set high.
We have visited the lovely poole farm before, and loved it.This visit didn't disappoint, the only downside was the weather which of course is no reflection on the site. The fact that it is hardstanding is a bonus on set days.
We were welcomed by Greg who showed us what had been down since our last visit. The added addition of the new separate loo,and hut with the laundry ,freezer ,and of course lou's home frozen meals, and name chutney was very welcome. We had a lasagne, and chicken and leek pie one evening which went down very well.
We cannot fault anything at Poole farm,it is as always immaculate in every way.We are fairly local, living about an hour and a half away down west, but we still found lots of places to visit.
Nothing is too much trouble for Greg, and Lou,and they are always on hand if you should need them.We were sorry to hear home, especially as the sun came out,but will definitely be back.
