Beautiful site for visiting Torbay and the surrounding area

We live in Cornwall but visit Torbay as often as we can because we used to live there. This site is perfect for visiting Torbay, Brixham, Paington and the surrounding area. The pitches are huge and well set out. We had a great time in October 2020. Both pubs near by do great food. The owners are lovely and very helpful. Couldn't ask for more. This is our new regular weekender site in Torbay once we are allowed out again.

Fabulous CL

This CL is new this year and promises to become a real favourite. The 5 pitches are huge and bounded by newly planted shrubs and trees, overlooking rolling farmland with cattle and sheep grazing in the next field. The site is easily reached on a main road, so no awkward narrow heart-stopping drives up tiny country lanes. The slight downside is traffic noise, but the camping field is far enough from the road for this to not be intrusive. While there we walked to nearby Berry Pomeroy Castle, an easy 2.2 mile walk on footpaths and quiet rural roads. The castle is well worth a visit and had a nice little cafe open despite current restrictions. (Book before you go at the moment). We walked on into Totnes, but didn't find the paths very user friendly. Also easy walking from the site are both local pubs, the Pig & Whistle and the Tally Ho. Like the previous reviewer, we preferred the Tally Ho and had a great Sunday lunch. Steve and Jane were really friendly and took the time to chat to everyone. The site is well managed and set up to a very high standard. Do try the BBQ charcoal, it was excellent.

Super new site

What a delightful new site! 5 huge level pitches divided by young trees. Views across meadows with sheep and Devon cattle grazing. Charming, helpful owners have gone to a lot of trouble to develop the site and make you welcome. Short walk by footpath to Pig & Whistle dining pub but we preferred the excellent community pub in the village easily reached by footpath. Ranks very high in our list of favourite cl’s

Excellent

This is a new site and very welcoming and Ideal for touring South Devon the grass is well cut with large allocated pitches the shared toilet in the garden shed is a delight and spotless. The site is all grass and drains well. The pictures do not do the site justice. The road outside is dodgy to walk but the path around the wood to the pub is a delight This new CL deserves support and should do well.

New family site

This site only opened this season 2020. We managed to book for 5 nights because someone else had cancelled. We liked having plenty of flat grass space for the caravan and a pup tent. The field is open and airy, but may well become more private as the loads of newly planted young trees grow up. There are woods at one end of the field including an area great for children to build a den and clamber on trees. Although not yet listed as an asset on this CL description, there is a new clean toilet and wash room. We drove from the site to several beaches in the region. The owners gave helpful advice on this. Some of the beach car parks are National Trust, so no charge for members. Our grand children enjoyed the space and freedom on site, and the beaches. Success!

Pine Ridge Tree Farm

We arrived on Thursday, as booked to be greeted by Steve & Jane who had only recently been able to open (due to Covid 19 restrictions) and once the muddle with the booking had been rectified we were given our plot, which was big enough for 2 plots 👍. As advertised it really is a 'tree farm' with a nursery and a budding arboretum where Steve took gave us a guided tour of the trees and their origin. 😊 We were pleasantly surprised to find a pretty shed with a 'toilet' sign, as this had not been advertised. It was new, clean & well designed. The Pig & Whistle was also welcoming, where we gave our details for Track & Trace without issue. Social distancing had been risk assessed at the pub, and we enjoyed a safe drink or two there. Although we ventured to the Tally Ho, we decided not to try their fare, simply because we feared falling over on the way home after consuming alcohol (a more 'challenging' route than the Pig & Whistle) 🤣😂. It was very hot whilst we were there so it was a relief to find that Jane was selling Strawberry Cornetto's - just what we needed! Very enjoyable - we definitely intend to return. 😃
