We stayed here in late March, on the back end of some awful rain, which meant the site was really soggy. However, the site layout with access track and hard standings, meant that pitching and getting set up was straightforward, even in the dark. (We did get the front wheels of our car stuck, but John was able to tow us off without bother).
Having our own water and drainage was a big plus given the conditions, and the separate toilet and washbasin were useful. The pitch was big enough to accommodate our caravan and awning without going onto the soggy grass.
John and Jackie were friendly and helpful hosts, and always willing to offer advice or guidance. As we were attending an event all week we didn't sample the local pubs or restaurants, and didn't take any walks, but Eccleshall looked like a nice place, and we'd like to revisit at some point.
Lovely welcome
Stayed on Wednesday night. Late arrival accommodated. Very friendly and helpful welcome. Extremely well kept & tidy site. Would definitely recommend!

Well located for walking
We chose the site for its proximity to walks and an interesting sounding small town nearby. It scored on both. Eccleshall is a town which still retains some interesting independent shops and made for a short road walk destination on a very wet morning. Our lunch stop at Flour and Co was however disappointing: over priced and indifferent food.
There are plenty of foot paths locally, all having stiles and all very muddy given this winter and spring's deluges, so we made use of local quiet side roads and the country side is very pleasant. Beware though if you want a lunchtime drink at the nearest pub: closed except in the evening.
The site advertises hardstanding, but this is only accessible over the grass. John had phoned to warn us and did suggest we might want to cancel but, ever intrepid we didn't and therefore did get stuck and had to be towed off.
Local eggs (John's hens) are a bonus and this is a very pleasantly located site.

VERY FRIENDLY
What a lovely site. Good access. Extremely good value Such a pretty village. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly. Can highly recommend The Old Smithy in Eccleshall itself for a meal. Dogs are allowed in the bar area. An easy 25min walk from the site. Only there for a night so didn't try other eating places.

Two night stay. Will come back.
Spotlessly clean site, great pitches with all facilities. Minimum road noise. Easy access. Great local pubs and gardens to visit.

A cracking little peaceful gem of a site!!
Always a warm, friendly, flexible and accommodating welcome. All pitches have a fresh & waste water point and EHU. There's a clean loo too. There is one grass pitch for those wishing to site on grass, all the rest are good level gravel pitches with a gravel access drive, which links to the pitches via under grass grip mesh to aid traction on those wet days. Tip: If the grass is wet or damp when you arrive, be sure to start and stop your driving wheels on the gravel, or second best on the meshed areas. Local dog (and human!) friendly pub a short, roughly 1km, walk down one of the adjacent quiet country lanes. Many CL's are a muddy trek between the site and road through a farm yard. This one is different, it's set aside as its own entity, so clean paws and boots in and out, happy days. Been a few times and will I be back? Oh yes!
Just a one night stay.
Our very 1st CL. A very nice quiet peaceful site, owners very pleasant, friendly and helpful, would defo stay there again . We were there to go to Stafford Showground which was under a 1/2 hour drive.
Weekend Stay
Just spent a lovely weekend at Pershall Meadow... It was a last minute booking and is our first outing of 2022. If the remaining trips are as good then we'll have a good year! The approach from the road into the CL was easy (although the 500m through Eccleshall High St coming in was interesting. Thankfully we didn't meet any large vehicles or tractors coming the other way). The CL signs are well positioned and easy to spot from the main road. Once through the coded automatic gate, which is a great security feature, the site opens up with all 5 hardstanding pitches facing onto a glorious view of farmland and countryside. Water and electric are all to hand at each pitch and the toilet is in a shed with the waste point behind it. The toilet is basic but functional. The pitches are well spaced out side by side and you don't feel you are on top of your neighbour. We drove to Eccleshall which has a number of pubs (John recommended The Old Smithy which was a good call for our Saturday evening meal). Next time we'll walk to the Star Inn... John and Jackie keep a lovely site and we would definitely agree with the other positive reviews. We'll definitely be back again soon.
