Peace and quiet guaranteed!!

What a fantastic site this is if you like CLs and dont expect five star facilities on tap. You get a tap a bit of a wobbly disposal point and bins for recycling...what else do you need?...with these views and peace and quiet then quite frankly... nothing...It it is stunning and somewhere we just didnt want to leave...friendly owners who are there if you need anything but let you get on without being intrusive. There are great coastal walks with fantastic scenery...Cawsand Kingsand and Millbrook offer enough to keep you fed watered and entertained and its not far to go to catch Ferrys across to Plymouth if you fancied. The area has plenty to do and we travelled to Polperro, Fowey, Mevagissy Looe and many other places of interest from the site. Its that good we not only didnt want to leave, we really want to go back...why because if Carlsberg did CLs....

Beautiful location

A basic site in a beautiful location, on our second visit. Wonderful views of the sea with plenty of ships to watch as you sit and relax. The last few miles of the journey a little tricky with the narrow roads but as you would expect to get to such a lovely , peaceful location. Wonderful walks from site  and a local pottery to visit. The owner is friendly , not intrusive but is very helpful when needed. The only issue we had on this occasion was the ticks . With two dogs we were dealing with multiple ticks and ended up in a fabulous local vets who helped remote them all and provide a secondary treatment. It is a problem in the area not just this site so if you are bringing dogs check on their treatment ( Frontline was ineffective ) and bring your tick remover. The longer grass around the site may add to the problem and I'm sad to say that it would prevent  us returning again.

Rame Head

Just had a great, 3 night stay at Penmillard farm. Fabulous sea views to W,S & E, and right on coastal path. Attractive Cawsand & Kingsand are 2 miles, heading East, on good walking coast path. Naval warships on exercise every day so a bit more to watch. Yes, not a wind-free zone, but it is a headland pointing towards the Atlantic. Local roads fairly narrow, but it is Cornwall. Helpful hosts and will be going again.

Enjoyable stay, but watch the forecast!

The published directions provide the best route. The last few miles are narrow lanes and the village of Crafthole was a bit busy when we went through, but other than that it was a good journey. The site sits between Rame Head church and the coast path. It's an elevated, exposed site and if the wind is blowing there is no respite - we left a day early due to gale warnings. Having said that, the views are stunning, the local area is lovely, lots of good walking and interesting villages. The owner is friendly, and visited every day. There are recycling facilities and plenty of water points on site. The chemical disposal point felt very unsafe - you have to stand on a couple of metal plates over the cesspit, and these move alarmingly. It may well be safe, but it doesn't feel like it!! We enjoyed our stay, but thought that £15 a night was a bit on the pricey side for a basic CL.

Our favourite Cl this summer

We toured for 41 nights this summer, using mainly CL sites, but also commercial sites - this one really stood out for us. We had endured a dreadful journey the day we arrived, what should have been a 40 minute drive took over 2 hours as there was a vintage car show nearby so the traffic was really bad on all the skinny lanes - I rang the owner twice on the way just to see if there was a better way to go - then - having missed the sign for the site, I walked up to the farm as we couldn't turn round, and the owner took me down to our van in his car, then we followed him to the site via a different route - how helpful. We fell in love with the site as soon as we got there, blue sky, blue sea and the sound of - seagulls and the odd bird of prey- that's all. Luckily we had stocked up on food as we didn't take the van out for the 3 days we were there - we walked the coastal paths both ways and just sat for hours taking in the atmosphere. WE will go again next time we are in Cornwall, but I'll do my homework next time and make sure there aren't any events on nearby...

What a view !

Stunning view in peaceful surroundings in a quiet part of Cornwall .coast path accessable from site with lovely walk to quiet villages of cawsands and kingsands.easy access to Plymouth by car or foot ferry .good food at pub in cremyll where you can eat your lunch on the side of the estuary watching the warships come and go .site very exposed so not sure if I would put an awning up but mains water a bonus 4 way adapters fitted to taps (why don't we see more of these).

Great site.

Although the approach roads are very narrow when you get to the site what a great view. Access to the coast path is excellent and with an hourly bus service 10 min walk away what else could you want. My only reservation was the chemical toilat disposal was a bit scary (having to stand on the top of the cess pit). We will defiantly be back!

Wow What a View

A simple site very well maintained with all you need and to top it all fabulous sea views and utterly peaceful.  Yes it was windy one night but it wasn't a problem.  If you love walking it is right on the coastal path with walks to Cawsands one way and Freathy the other.  Both lovely places to explore and for coffee and cake! The chapel on Rame Head and the Coast Watch were worth a visit. Excellent CL.

Perfect location!

We have just returned from a great week here. The location is perfect - views over the sea (lots of shipping to watch) and next to the coast path, with walks around Rame Head and beautiful scenery. There's plenty of space for children to play, and the owner was very welcoming and helpful. There are passenger ferries to Plymouth from Cawsand and Cremyll, and gardens at Mount Edgecumbe and Antony (NT), and the local beach at Polhawn Cove, with great rock-pools, is a 15 minute walk. The CL entrance is fine but there is a stretch of very narrow and winding road on the approach. We had perfect weather - it would be very exposed in high winds, however! We will be back.

Restful weekend

Life had been pretty hectic the last few months and we'd had to cancel a previous booking so a break was just what we needed. The forecast was grey and mild. We parked up our motorhome - leveling blocks required. and looked out over Plymouth Sound and Whitsand Bay - a bit hazy but beautiful views with all the various boats on the water from fishing, sailing, ferries and naval including a submarine. There are wonderful coastal paths and Cawsand/Kingsand is only 30 minute walk away. The site is basic with electric, water and refuse facility. Chemical disposal is a cesspit in the far corner with wash down facility. The owner was welcoming with lots of information. A bonus, the weather turned out to be better than forecast and a relaxing weekend was had by us and our 2 Jack Russell's. 'Batteries' recharged to continue life back home. We'll be back.
