A little humdinger of a wow site!
We have just returned from this little gem of a site after having spent just 3 nights there in what were utterly fantastic cloudless weather, with virtually no wind.
The greeting we received from Mandy on our arrival was such a glowing one, most especially as she also gave us a box full of delicious eggs that had been laid by her free roaming chickens.
We travelled here in our LWB Renault Master panel van conversion and found the surrounding roads to be wide enough to drive along, however I wouldn’t have been happy doing so in anything wider such as a coach built motorhome or indeed towing one of the latest 8’ wide monster caravans as I feel sure their bodies would be on the receiving end of more than a few scratches from the overhanging brambles and hedges.
This is a superb area of the country to explore which has a thousand and one hidden coves to discover.
As for the site which is run by Mandy and Tony, you can certainly tell that they are seasoned caravanners as they have thought of almost everything, and for those wanting a shower or loo, those provided are spotless. The only very slight criticisms I have are, (a) you have to be very thin to be able to reach all the waste bins and (b) there is zero information available about the surrounding area and in particular it would have been very helpful if there had been a plastic encapsulated section of an ordnance survey map (or similar) simply to see where exactly you were as well as in which direction to walk for and to all of the local walks.
We will most definitely be returning to this amazing site, oh and if you are self sufficient with regards to electricity like we are, then ask when you book and Mandy might just give you a very reasonably discounted rate.
