Honest Review - It’s A GEM!!

Arrival - Nice easy access no problems with getting into this site or the approaching roads, easy to find and enter. John the owner was there to greet us and what a lovely friendly man he is. Showing us where everything was including useful local knowledge. Nothing too much trouble. Site - As described beautiful views, peaceful, and quiet. Lovely walk onsite to a stream, dogs loved their walks. Two racing horses are sometimes in a fenced off field and they are beautiful to watch. We felt safe and at peace. Level hard standing that you can face your caravan out onto those beautiful views, toilet emptying facilities clean and water and electricity easy to access. Location - Great location, Moreton in Marsh a 5 minute drive or half hour walk, cafes, restaurants, pubs, (dog friendly) local cheese shop, fish and chip takeaway and gift shops. Easy access to neighbouring villages with all the Cotswolds have to enjoy. Since staying here twice now (unusual for us as we tend to go to different sites and not repeat sites) we have not experienced any dog noise from the adjacent house, our experience was quiet and peaceful. This is the first review that we have left in the five years using CL sites, but this CL is exceptional.

Fantastic Site

We have just returned from staying on this wonderful site, John the owner was so lovely and really helpful, nothing was too much trouble, (very understanding when I clipped part of his very well mown grass with our tag axel🤦‍♀️). No loo or showers, £25 with electric but still worth every penny. We are already planning our return trip.

Well kept site

Lovely well kept site on the edge of Morton in Marsh within walking distance to the town. The site is immaculate with nice short grass. As said in a previous review there is some dog noise from an adjoining house so keep to the other side if possible. The CL is one part of a large field which does have a pop up camping site on it but the area is so large it didn’t impede on us whatsoever. There is a nice area that you can walk down to the stream through several horse paddocks. Had a lovely welcome from the the owner and he was very accommodating when we had to stay another night because of illness. The cost was £23/night inc electricity and the water taps are dotted around the site. However the Elsan point is a couple of hundred yards away near the farm buildings.

Not quite as described and NOT quiet

Whilst this is a very pleasant set up, it is not as described. During our stay there were 7 units on the site which limited the amount of available space within the designated area for the CL!!!!! During the evening there was incessant dog barking from the adjacent house. Not peaceful. There are no far reaching views as described, just a field!! No mention on the website about a 200 tent pop-up campsite in the same large field as the CL. Finally overpriced at £18 without electric or £23 with electric. Overall a disappointing stay. Not value for money.

A Great Addition To The CL Network

There is no doubt that the Cotswolds area is crying out for decent CL's and here is one that has the potential to become the jewel in the crown. Booking was very straightforward and John, the owner, was on hand when we arrived to show us where everything was. The unmarked pitches are in a sort of semi circle at the edge of a huge field. There are plenty of hook up points together with two water taps. Grey waste water is into the hedge and the CDP is a short walk away by the barn which is also adjacent to the hard standing area. The ground was absolutely rock hard so I have no idea what it would be like when wet. The pitching area, together with the rest of the estate, is all close mown. There is plenty of walking from the site and John very kindly allows you to walk round the grounds which, if you have dogs, is very handy for first thing in the morning and late at night. Easy walk into Moreton-in-Marsh either by road or over the fields with Aldi, Co-op and Tesco Express together with cafes and pubs. A larger Tesco's at Stow-on-the-Wold. Site is handy for all the Cotswold honeytraps and there are numerous NT properties in the area. A couple of points to note that others may find useful - firstly, the wider back road into Moreton-in-Marsh from Evenlode is currently closed at the edge of M-in-M until September. This means additional traffic along the slightly narrower lane that leads to the site but there are places to pass.. Secondly, during August, the site owner has a licence for a pop-up campsite adjacent to the CL. Looking at the entry on the 'Pitchup' website, he can have up to 200 tents. Site is highly recommended and we will definitely use it again - £23 night for two adults with EHU.

Excellent site

We had a very enjoyable 5 nights here, and can only agree with all the previous reviews. However, when booking, be aware that due to the increased cost of electricity, a pitch with EHU is now £23.

Great Stop Over

Just left, albeit a couple of days early due to dog not well, a super CL, a stop off on our way back to Lancs from Cornwall. Very spacious you can pitch anywhere you fancy in the huge well mown field, extra cables supplied if required. There is hard standing if preferred. Peaceful, great for dogs. A 1.5/2 mile walk to Moreton in the Marsh with good selection of shops,on a quiet country lane or over fields a longer walk ( we didn’t do). Also handy for other Cotswold villages, Bourton on the Water, Stow in the Wold etc. The owner John is a great guy, helpful and knowledgable, and is in the process of making his land into a race horse training yard with gallops etc, it’s an ongoing project and will be some time before finished, but everything he has done fencing tree planting etc is top notch so tidy. The CL will not be affected in anyway when yard opens. Was lovely seeing the horses in the fields. As we had to leave early 😥, John kindly refunded our payment which we didn’t expect, but he was quite insistent. Sure we will visit again. Superb Site and Owner

John's site must be one of the best CL sites in the country, huge area to site your unit on with grass so immaculate it would not be out of place in your own garden. If peace and tranquillity is your main criteria this is the site for you, coupled with a modern WC dump point and numerous water taps. Walking distance to Moreton in Marsh along with numerous other peaceful and scenic walking routes, even without leaving the site, mean there is always something to utilise your time. John is a very friendly affable chap whose welcoming wave and smile makes you feel instantly at home, he is also extremely easy to converse with so much so that you might find that you have left your better half for an excessive time.

Choices Galore at Pebbly Barn Farm

Our stay on this lovely new CL has been one of the best we have ever had, in 37 years of touring. Booking via email was easy and quick, a warm welcome when we arrived, and we were simply delighted with our choice to use as a base for touring gardens in Cotswolds. The pitching area is a huge, closely mown paddock, anywhere along the railed area, or if preferred, on the big hardstanding area, over the rails. We stayed on the grass, which despite some very heavy rainstorms, stayed very firm, no problems at all under wheel. Electric hook up is available if required, (£3 per night extra for our stay) simply ask and you will be sorted. There are two water points, a modern, very easy to use chemical disposal point, recycling area nearby. Big gates and hardstanding area make getting onto Site very easy. The Site is carefully landscaped, newish plantings but will mature beautifully, with views of Cotswold hills in distance. Good dog walk on the Site, down to River Evenlode. Very quiet and peaceful, with birds and deer around. Only a mile from Moreton in Marsh and the Fosse Way, so very easy to get around to some great places like NT properties, Chedworth Roman Villa, and lots of other gorgeous Cotswold villages and towns. M-in-M has a big Coop and an Aldi, we got cheap fuel at garage in Bourton on the Hill. Easy walk or cycle into Moreton, and local lanes are great for cycling. (Beware of busy roads though on other routes) This wonderful CL is all about choice. Hardstanding or grass, with or without hook up, not a pitching peg in sight, just a huge choice of where and how you want to pitch up. Great for a long stay, but ideal for an overnight stop as well being just off the Fosse Way.A very welcome addition to the CL network. And yes, we have booked another stay😁
