First time

Having visited this site recently we thoroughly enjoyed it. The toilet block was excellent. The owners were very welcoming and are obviously putting a lot of time and effort into this site. We will be back.

Great weekend

Just spent three nights with our friends at this superb CL site. Made very welcome by the owners, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Well maintained, with very clean toilet and shower block, the site is located amongst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds. Very quiet and peaceful. There are two good pubs, which both serve food, about half a mile away in Weaverthorpe (easy 10 to 15 minute walk). We drove to Scarborough one day (15 miles) and then to the North Yorkshire Moors, just north of Pickering (18 miles), for a walk the following day. Spent final day at the lovely Sledmere House (4 miles). Overall, a really enjoyable three days. We will definitely be returning to this site. Pete and Sue

Heaven in a tin box on wheels

What can we say! Deserves CL of the year, but being the gracious hosts that Maurice and Rita are they prefer just to have a review - the least we can do! Warm welcome awaited us when we arrived, help with pitching up due to the light slope, offer to use their house phone due to no signal on our mobile (and accept incoming calls). Sun hotspot, sheltered, peaceful, quiet, beautfully kept, certainly not overcrowded. The 2 weeks we spent there was a little bit of heaven in what we affectionately call our tin box on wheels. Thank you Maurice and Rita for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back!

Small but perfectly formed

A fabulous, well situated site in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds, an ideal base for gentle cycling and walking. The owners are great, very friendly, very keen to make sure their guests enjoy their stay, and the addition of a spacious shower room was an unexpected bonus after a weekend at a festival! The site is small, but as we were out and about all day this wasn't a problem for us, and we had plenty of space for gazebo, wicker sofa and barbecue...highly recommended.

Lovely and relaxing

Spent two glorious weeks in June. Nothing too much trouble for Maurice and Rita (even daily papers to order) and they are very knowledgeable about local attractions. Would recommend the beach at Hunmandby Gap if you have dogs as miles of lovely sand and parking charges very reasonable. Also worth noting that CC voucher gets £5 off each on North York Moors Railway. No mobile coverage but this meant more peace for us and there is Wi-Fi if you want to stay in touch. All in all had a lovely time and hope to be back later in the year.

Pear Tree House

What a beautiful friendly site. I would recommend this site to any caravan owner. Beautifully kept, grass freshly cut, shower and toilet block always clean. The owners Maurice and Rita very friendly. The only draw back was no telephone signal but that wasn't a problem as Maurice told us we were very welcome to use his house phone and we could receive calls on it if we needed (can't ask for anything more). It was a pleasure to stay here and we will be doing so again in the very near future. Chris & Claire Forbes

Touring

Spent a week on the very nice and friendly site. Very well maintained with very convenient shower/wc block. Owner planning more improvements this year so can only get better. Rita and Maurice were super hosts, nothing too much trouble. Only downside being almost no mobile signal and no local WiFi. Ideally situated for the coast, moors and York.

We have just spent a long weekend on this lovely site.

Got to be one of gems of Yorkshire CLs. Owners very friendly and willing to help. Site is a lovely grassed area slightly slopping but nothing that blocks wont fix. Can see across fields lovely views depending which way your caravan is. Not too close to other vans too. Brand new toilet and shower just put in with a minimal charge well worth it. Close to coast Filey, Humanby and Scarbouragh one way and Dalby forest which is a fantastic day out only 20 minute drive. Will definatley be back if we can get on. hope this useful

update on previous review

Just had another visit to one of our favorite CL sites "Pear Tree House". The owner's Maurice and Rita have recently installed a new toilet/shower facility. This has two separate toilets with separate entrances. One side has a toilet and wash basin which is large and spacious. The other side again which has its own lockable entrance, has within it a toilet cubicle, shower, wash basin and large sink. There is an honesty box and you are asked to contribute 50p for a shower. Facilities always clean and well looked after. What was already a great quiet site has just got better. Prices are now £11.00 a night with electric a bargain.
