Disappointed

We were disappointed, it is a shame that this cl has been negative. The photos on the club website are out dated, and do not reflect the site today. Hedges overgrown, weeds all over the large hardstanding. Grass not trimmed. The site is very near Bristol Airport so you will have planes taking off from 6.00am until 9.30pm. Please follow the clubs directions to this cl to the letter, do not trust your sat nav. Fairly steep slope off the road into the site. £25 a night a little expensive in our opinion.

Having stayed at Orchard Bank recently I felt I should reply to this rather harsh appraisal.

I found this a lovely peaceful site, on the edge of Kenn moor and in the other direction the north end of the Mendip hills. The site itself has been fairly recently taken on by new owners who are taking a more sustainable approach to the management of the  grounds. Hedges are allowed to grow naturally until the birds have finished nesting and no weed killers are used. There is new planting in the grassy areas and ponds have been dug to encourage wildlife.

There is undoubtedly a transition from what was previously a more ‘ordered’ environment to a nature friendly, more varied and interesting place to stay. As such I had to respond to what I thing is a rather unfair review.

I agree completely with the previous response.

This is a lovely, peaceful site, not regimented in lines, no toilet blocks.
If you want bowling green grass and no space between neighbours and to do a report on how wonderful the toilets and showers are, then a CL is not the place to go.
