Tranquility Base of motor homing
For the past two days, I have stayed at Tranquility Base of motor homing. Why is it so special, I really don’t know, after all, there are no toilets or showers, no shop or kids play area and some of the grass needs cutting (I jest – there’s a large flower meadow being created). It’s about a 30 min walk into Woodhall Spa which has a nice selection of coffee shops and eateries and obviously famous for aircraft (the memorial is well worth a visit).
But why is Oaklea so special? Well, what there is, is a beautiful laid out field and wood, planted with love and care and a site owner that will happily guide you round if you so wish. We set off on a Saturday afternoon to have a walk and a natter, with Piotr pointing out specific trees and shrubs as we went round. In what seemed no time of at all, it had gone dark and it was some 4 hours later. What did we talk about? Who cares, as I had just spent the most relaxing 4 hours of my life for ages. And then, to cap it off as we stood there in the darkness, the Tawny owls started hooting. If you are in England, then you should call in and stop. Don’t expect fancy gadgets and stunning facilities, as this is more about finding yourself and relaxation.
Why is it so special? I still don’t know, but I do know I will be returning. Thank you, Piotr, for making a 2 day break, which rained for a lot of it so special.
P.S. The Monkey Puzzle Tree in the entrance is one of the finest I’ve ever seen.
