An Autumnal Delight

A little bit late reviewing this. We spent an enjoyable few days at this site, very quite and picturesque close to all local amenities. We especially enjoyed the grounds and extensive tree collection which were in full autumn colour. We would definitely visit again.

A unique site

Oaklea has suffered from the recent bad weather like many other sites, but can still accommodate caravanners on the hard standing rather than cancel bookings. Piotr could not have been more helpful and welcoming, and acknowledges there is work to be done to the site. However, we still found it to be a little gem and well worth the long drive there and back home to South Birmingham.

Tranquil place in need of some TLC

The site is located in a beautiful area and is very tranquil. But I felt more recently that the site is neglected and in need of some TLC. The recent wet weather didn’t help. As the grass was so long and so wet we pitched on the car park/motorhome pitches. Only 2 of the pitches could accommodate awnings. The water supply was some way off in very boggy ground. You needed wellies on to fetch the water. The alternative was from a hose pipe from which the tap to turn on the supply was some way off and needed a sprint to turn the tap off in time to prevent overflows. Filling water was a chore. The elsan point was also a long way off. A wheel barrow was provided to help for those without wheeled toilet cassettes. Again making a chore of the emptying for those who are not so able on their feet. There are many overhanging trees along the entrance that are in need of a good prune. This made access in and out of the site awkward. There is little or no phone and internet signal anywhere on the site. TV reception is very good. Woodhall Spa is a beautiful town full of good eateries. The Kinema is worth a visit. The Battle of Britain visitors centre is well worth a visit. Unfortunately I would not visit again. There are many more sites in the area that are better for the price paid per night.

Brilliant Site

We were recommend this site so thought we would give it a try, we arrived in July for 4 nights, were met by the owner who showed us a choice of pitches , showed us where the water and waste points, also where we could walk in his woods and other areas, nice walk into Woodhall Spa, we were not very lucky with the weather , but we loved the site & hope to return soon,

A very special place

We have just spent a couple of nights here. Lovely large open spaces, accompanied by some beautiful trees . We pitched up on a gravel area along side a nice lawned area ( perfect for us ) .There were grass pitches set in between shrubs and trees which had electric points and taps for water. A really clean and tidy bin / recycling area. You were also able to roam the woods and land onsite which we did .Communication with the owner was very helpful and he made us feel very welcome . Location wise offered plenty of opportunities , from forest walks (Nearby across the road ) going off in all directions .Plenty of local history and good local shops. We are returning soon .

One of the best

We have visited many CLs over past 18 months and this has got to be near the top of our list of favourite sites. In beautiful grounds, close to Woodhall Spa. Owner very helpful and relaxed about where we pitched. Definitely return to this site

What a gem !

What a stunning place . Set in an arboretum with the most amazing rose bushes intertwining the trees. Some nice little private pitches with good shade from the trees if preferred. Perfect for dogs as surrounded by woodland that you can just step into from your van . Piotr was very welcoming and helpful but at the same time left us be. Very clean and tidy site , will definitely be returning

Lovely BUT

We thought this was our ideal cl. 17 acres of woodland, wild areas and a large level grass area for caravans but beware. There were TEN outfits on this site the weekend we were there. Disappointing.

One of a kind…

Hard not to repeat what others have already stated but this really is a bit of a one off. Truly beautiful and a tribute to Piotr and his wife who had the foresight to create a CL alongside their 17 acres of woodland and gardens. We loved it and will one day return. Woodhall Spa is also charming and a pleasant walk from the campsite. Oaklea simply makes caravanning an absolute pleasure. Tony & Sophie x

Never seen any other CL with fifty 5* reviews!

Not so much a CL, this is really a carefully-crafted Arboretum with integrated touring pitches. Read carefully the owners own story on their website, www.oaklea.co.uk for more info. We have made three future bookings and more will follow - peace, beauty and tranquillity within 45mins of home - what more could you ask for! Thanks Piotr.
