Well organised little site with our pitch marked on a board. Mike & Jane were great host's supplying us with a local map & tips on places to visit. The recommendation of Hunters fish n chips on Newmarket Road was spot on.
We enjoyed driving into Louth (5mins) & doing lovely walks by the old canal & Hubbard's Hills area.
We had a right mixture of weather with heavy rains. The ground became quite soggy but never got to the point of causing a problem. The ground drained quite quickly too.
Plenty of area's to exercise dog on site which proved to be a great asset. Electrics very reliable, some road noise but not enough to cause an issue. All in all a great CL, we will no doubt return.
It’s always comforting to know where your pitch is when you arrive at a site. Nutty Cottage has it sorted, a large board at the entrance with your name and allocated pitch...spot on.
16 amp EHU and great water pressure at the tap, perfect.
The site would otherwise be a perfect tranquil settings had it not been for a busy B road adjacent to the site. In all fairness though, while personally sensitive to noise at night, it must have gone very quiet or the wooded perimeter deadened the sound of the occasional car.
Signal strength for Internet was fine for streaming and similarly tv signal was fine.
This is a adult only site which was perfect for us and about 30 to 40 minutes to the coast.
Although a bit of a jaunt on foot, a 15 minute walk along a B road without footpath, the Royal Oak, also known as ‘The Splash’ is a must do visit. It’s in an absolutely idyllic setting and it’s only when you get there that you understand how it got its second name.
A spacious, well kept site that I would personally highly recommend.
After staying at this site we went to the club site at Ferry Meadows, now we will be sticking to CLs from here on in. The site was tidy, spacious, plenty of room to walk the dog and the owners could not have been more friendly and helpful. The only down side was the road noise from mad motor cyclists but it was not that often and after a while it did not really bother us. Unlike Ferry Meadows where I had to pay for a WiFi connection, here the phone signal strength was so good I could stream a movie and the TV reception was good unlike Ferry Meadows where we got no reception art all! The other comparison with Ferry Meadows is of course children, we won't go there. We can thoroughly recommend this site.
Lovely peaceful site with plenty of dog walks for our dog.
Before we set off from home we were informed that there was a board with names and the site allocated to us. All we had to do on arrival was look at the board and park accordingly.
We parked up and everything was fine so we took our dog for a walk into Louth. It is very scary as there are no pavements. The traffic was driving past us at 60 miles per hour and we felt unsafe walking to the nearest supermarket and pub.
When we returned to the site we found a person looking into our van and acting suspiciously. We asked him what he wanted and even though it was raining, he wanted us to move to the plot next door. They had decided after we'd arrived to change things and the board had also been altered.
Obviously, as it was only a one night stay we didn't want to move and didn't.
We will not be returning as the whole problem ruined our weekend. There was also no explanation or apology.
We stayed here for 2 nights in early December. Well located for visiting Louth and the coast with easy access from a main road. The owners in the nearby house were friendly and helpful. However, we will not be returning as we found the road noise really intrusive, even inside the van with everything shut. We would certainly not want to sit outside in the summer, which is a shame as the site is visually very attractive. The other problem was the mud. The hardstandings are narrow and you have to access your door from the adjoining grass, which was a quagmire when we were there. Also very poor mobile signal (EE).
I would like to say we had a lovely week at Nutty Cottage CL site very friendly and felt very comfortable The owners Jane and Husband welcomed us onto the site plenty of room on the pitches and very tranquil plenty of places to visit nice beaches not far away. All round really nice place Thank you Jane and Mike will most certainly visit again.
We live in Kent and have been house hunting in the Louth area for over a year. We have used this site consistently as a little home from home in all weather and times of the year. Nothing is too much trouble for Jane and Mick. The site is easy acces off the A16, wide and long entrance clearly signposted, well kept level site overlooking field, two hardstandings. It can be little waterlogged at times and there is a main road to the rear but we don't find it intrusive. You can walk into Louth from the site, not a great walk, main roads and then residential, but if motor homer doable or closer is a costcutters and a really fab co-op. Great fish and chips next to co op called Hunters, the Spalsh pub is a good go to. More up market is the Livesey Arms in Ludborough. Right on the edge of the Wolds AONB perfect for cycling (hilly Wolds) or flat (marsh land). Louth is a gem of a Georgian market town, but also striking distance from the coast and Lincoln itself. Jane and Mick have been attentive but not intrusive and always amenable to tagging on extra days etc. Plenty of eateries in Louth itself and we've found it hard to spend more than £30 on a meal for two.
stayed for 8 days 7 were great it;s a lovely site if a bit small as the pitches are close together (see later) really good for dogs as there is plenty of space to exercise them off lead and a nice walk in the woods .The owners are lovely people very welcoming and helpful .Close to louth for any shopping needs and for 7 nights very peaceful unfortunately on the 8th night 2 motor homes arrived and the peace was shattered as they had a party till 12 midnight loud music till 9 and swearing till 11 when I asked them to stop, would like to return but not when they are there.
