A beautiful stopover

We choose this site as it was approx halfway on our journey up to the north of Wales. It was a beautiful setting with views wherever you looked. We choose the second field as it provided a more sheltered and shady spot. We had a lovely time and the dogs loved the walk down to the river particularly in the heat of the afternoon . I think the facilities are the best we have come across on a CL in our many years of caravanning. All of this for £14 a night. ! Wonderful x

Lovely CL near Builth Wells

We’ve just spent 7 nights at this lovely CL just outside Builth Wells. Set on a working sheep farm you’re assured of peace and quiet – unless, like us you arrive on a day when the sheep are being brought in for shearing then you’ll really wonder what you’ve let yourself in for. But not to worry, because once that was out of the way, calm returned! Access is very easy off the B4520 – just take a little care through the one way system in the town itself and at the bend on to the Upper Chapel road. When you arrive you have a choice of two pitching areas. We chose the front field – the pitches are rather narrow and slightly sloping but certainly more than adequate for a van and the bonus is that the awning can go on grass. The views from this field are superb across the meadow to the hills on the opposite side off the valley. In the back field there are some newer, more manicured pitches which do get the evening sun for longer but miss out on the views. All the pitches have a water tap adjacent so you pays your money and you makes your choice. The toilet and shower facilities are excellent and there’s a disabled toilet too. For strollers there are any number of footpaths from the farm itself around the surrounding meadows. For more serious walkers the Wye Valley Walk passes through Builth Wells and it’s an easy drive to Rhayader and the Elan Valley or Llandrindod Wells for more strenuous days out. If you head up to Rhayader, a visit to the kite feeding centre at Gigrin Farm is a must. For a peaceful and relaxed (or even more active) stay in the area, it’d be hard to beat this place – it’s an excellent example of just why we choose to stay on CLs rather than bigger sites.

We will return!

Lovely site with amazing views. The facilities were excellent, really clean and modern. Washing up facilities an added bonus! Unfortunately our stay coincided with the owners being away so we did not benefit from their local knowledge but we will definitely return.

Perfect caravan site

This wonderful site has to be my idea of perfection. Surrounded by stunning Welsh hill, this site is in easy distance of Builth Wells, 5 minutes in car, or for the more adventurous a half hour walk along a bridleway (parts steep and some mud!) Dog walks immediately from the site and with no sheep in the fields adjacent to site we were allowed to let them run around them to their hearts delight. Hardstanding with electric and water to all the pitches was ideal (water pressure very high so did burst our hose at one point). Toilets and shower in a heated block were spotless and modern. Very friendly owners who made us feel very welcome. I cannot rate this site more highly.

First Class CL

We stayed for 9 nights on this Cl and wished it could have been a lot longer the owners David and Elaine made us very welcome and work very hard to maintain the site the facilities are some of the best we have ever used and are cleaned to perfection .The views and surrounding countryside is superb with some nice walks in the immediate area we found everyone staying on the site to be very friendly as were the people that we spoke to in the nearby town to sum up a very clean well looked after site at a very affordable price and well worth a visit.

Exceptional site

Very friendly welcoming site with beautiful views. The toilet/shower block were outstanding, beautifully clean, with very spacious shower cubicles, there's also a disabled toilet, and washing up facilities. Electric and water are serviced to each pitch, and there is also a chemical disposal point on site. A very peaceful and relaxing stay with plenty to do near by.We went to the red kite feeding centre which was amazing and also quickly visited (time factor) the elan valley which was stunning we will definitely be returning to explore this place and will definitely stay at this site. We highly recommend this camp site. Fred and Marilyn. Cornwall.

Spring Break

We were met on arrval by the friendly owner. Pitches are hardstanding with grass adjacent. not over generous Not all pitches are suitable for awnings so it may be worth mentioning when booking if you want to use one. The grass betweeen the pitches was quite long as mentioned in a previuos review. The site looks out acroos the field to the hills opposite which are ideal for walkers. There is freedom to walk around the farm fields and enjoy the wonderful scenery. The showes are excellent with plenty of hot water and good pressure as is the tap on the pitch, There is a diisabled toilet and washbasin but no shower in the cubicle. Waste rubbish and recycling boxes are placed by the shower block. Ask about wifi. A trip up the Elan Valley is worth the time and while in the area a visit to the Red Kite Feeding Centre, the feeding takes place at 3pm.. In a nutshell, a lovely place to be with plenty of places to visit.

Wonderful Views

We really liked this site and have already booked again. Beautiful view of the rolling countryside and close to some fantastic drives through the hilly rugged area. We loved the backroad drive to Aberystwth which has stunning views. There is a single track steam railway fairly near which has a one hour ride on offer. A quite peaceful site with excellent facilities including free showers.

Owner description is spot on and they are very helpful. Really enjoyed our time in the area. We play golf and cycle ride and we found places close by for both activities.

Highly recommended

I booked this site to stay with my two small dogs near to the show ground in Builth Wells for a dog show. I was welcomed on arrival, offered help in setting up (important as a newbie 50+ female) and loaned an electric extension free of charge. I was very pleased with the peace and tranquility, especially after visiting friends in their caravan on the show ground which was like a posh refugee camp! So noisy and crowded. I definitely made the right decision. I felt very safe, there was plenty of space to walk my dogs, everything was clean and tidy. The showers and toilets were spruce.  It was just a short drive into town for the show and I enjoyed driving around the area to explore.  I would stay again in a heartbeat and thoroughly recommend it.
