A hidden gem

We stayed over the bank holiday to try camping off grid. The site, despite its slope, was carefully planned to accommodate both caravans and motor homes. The grass is short, battery charging via the solar panel is available, and the site is well kept. The off grid experience was a good experience.

back to basics

I was a bit dubious about this being a bit too much back to nature but it was perfect. John, the owner greeted us on arrival and was very informative. We wanted to be near a village as we didn't want to move the motorhome all weekend, the local shop wasn't a newsagents so John got our paper for us. The field was neatly cut and huge, we had trouble deciding where to park, spoilt for choice. We actually saw a baby deer walk slowly down the camp field one evening, awesome. The downside was the 2 family's who were parked at the top of the site, about 35 metres from us, their children frequently played by our van, winding our dogs up which was annoying.

Lovely quiet well tended CL

Just spent a week at this lovely CL. Very quiet and peaceful, lots of wildlife to watch. Very secure site with well thought out waste disposal point. Close to Banbury and not too far from Chipping Norton where you can park all day for free and catch the bus to Oxford. John the owner is very friendly and helpful . Really enjoyed our stay despite the weather . As someone else said “a gem of a site”

Tranquil and relaxing

Lovely weekend stay with family. Great countryside setting in a quiet picturesque village (good pub in walking distance) with good access to a range of activities and days out. Owner went out of his way to make our stay a happy one; site very well looked after, provided maps of the area including walks, piles of firewood for the chiminea, secure access to the site and did whatever possible to make our stay a happy one. I don't normally stay at sites without electric etc. but we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it to others. Surprised but delighted to have the site to ourselves! ... A hidden gem.

Lovely site and a warm welcome

Had a lovely couple of days at this site. Surprised that it isn't busier than it is! Had the place to ourselves for the August Bank Holiday weekend. Kids loved the huge field, and exploring the woods! John has put a great deal of attention into the facilities, down to having bricks sunk into the grass for the picnic tables to stand on and also supplying wood and fire lighters for the chiminea! Top and bottom bits of the field are pretty level (I did need a small ramp at the bottom of the field though), the middle is fairly sloping, so be prepared! Ground seems very well drained... it rained pretty much non-stop for the whole weekend, but the ground was still in great condition. Definitely on the list for a return visit!

Peaceful and beautiful location with welcoming host

Ideal location set in beautiful surroundings. The owner is very friendly and helpful and has paid great attention to detail in regard to the planting around the site and facitilites. Apart from the top and bottom of the site, the site is sloping so ramps are definitely required. We would highly recommend and will definitely be returning in the near future.

What a lovely site!

Lovely site, immaculately looked after by a very friendly and helpful owner.  Rather sloping but we had no problems leveling up, and it proved to be very well drained after a lot of rain recently. We had the whole place to ourselves all weekend and wished we were staying longer. We will definitely be returning.
