We booked last minute for a Saturday night and were delighted to be offered one of the new hard-standing pitches. We were met at the gate by the friendly owner who showed us to the level and newly gravelled pitch. The CL is so pretty: well tended and sheltered by mature trees and hedges. Being off grid there are no hook-ups but an impressive mobile solar charging unit is there if needed. The water and disposal facilities are excellent, solar lit and all instructions available to separate rubbish for recycling - good to see. Such care has gone into making this site so good and the excellent website is a rarity amongst CLs. We were blessed with sunshine and enjoyed walking around the lovely village and the church with its medieval wall paintings. There are so many good things to explore in life but this is one that I hope we'll get the chance to return to!
brilliant site
a clean and tidy site with excellent facilities, ideal tourist location lots of nt properties within easy reach. the local church is a must too.
added bonus of solar panel was a pleasant surprise, only people on site so we were able to use it for all of our stay. John very helpful and welcoming opened all gates for us and gave good directions to avoid narrow lanes. will visit again and give location to others

Great site
We have been here a couple of times now as not only is it a great site to stay at but for us it is also a great site to over night when we travel to the west side of the country and Wales. Site owner is very helpful and loads of information are provided when you arrive. No toilet block or electric hook ups but thats fine for us. Recycling facillities, water etc are clean and tidy plus they have a solar battery charger which is great for those who need it. Dogs love the field as lots of critters including a very plump squirrel obviously wander over the site - so lots of sniffs. We will definately be coming back here time and again.
First visit of many..
Great location for this beautifully maintained small site, which is a credit to the owner. The site itself has limited facilities - but those that are there, are very well done - rubbish recycling, chemical waste, fresh water, a natty solar unit for recharging gadgets and a chimnea! If you're self contained, this is bliss..
Access to the site is very good and the owner extremely welcoming.
There are some lovely walks from the site, and wildlife abounds. We watched a tiny Muntjac deer from the van on Saturday, listened to a number of Owls each night and marveled at numerous Red Kite and Buzzards on our walks (I recommend the walk to Great Tew and a beer at the Falkland Arms)
A future CL of the Year?
This is a beautiful site. A large lawned field bordered with mature hedging and mixed tree planting. Cared for by a delightful owner. It has a tidy, high quality disposal and re-cycling point. Choice of hard standing or well drained grass. Picnic tables provided and a barbecue/fire pit area. Easy wide turn in with wide entrance and gate. A clever solar re-charging point built by the owner is available for free. For those without a solar panel or generator this could extend your stay. Which might be a good idea as there is a sliding scale of site fees. The longer you stay the less you per night. Now why don't a few more sites consider that? To be honest you won't need any incentives to stay - the hardest part is leaving. This site is a credit to it's owner who has done a magnificent job in developing it from scratch four years ago and who is still looking for opportunities to further meet the needs of his guests. We'll be back before it becomes CL of the year - that may be very soon.

Lovely Site
Visited for a weekend Friday evening until Monday, John the owner is very helpful and met us there, it was the first time for years we have gone "off grid" but wanted to try the Solar Panel out we have on our caravan. Worked a treat, even watched 12v TV.
The site is very peaceful and we had it to ourselves Sat and Sun night, the facilities i.e. the water and waste points, fresh water, and recycling are really excellent and well constructed, better than some commercial sites I've been to, the whole site is laid out to a very high standard, credit to John the owner.
Top and bottom of the site are reasonably level and there is a hardstanding which would suit a motorhome, the main site is sloping and you would need levelling blocks.
We saw bats at the top of the site and some we think were kestrels flying around.
The village is very nice and has a pub which is walkable, we may try the menu next time.
Overall I can't fault this site, one of the best CL's we have stayed at, intend to return very soon.
Most relaxing
A big thankyou to John for setting up this great CL. A relaxing, very well kept site with lots of options for setting yourself up. Having a locked gate is great as it keeps your things safer. A nice little village within 5 mins walk, with a good pub selling decent ales and food. Despite torrential rain there was plenty of drainage. I was lucky enough to have the site to myself so a truly peaceful stay.
A gret spot to stop at
Came to the site in mid May 17 excellent very quiet site will definitely be back soon, just the place for a back to basics plus the extras .
Second visit
Stayed here in April this year for one night stopover so impressed are going back for three nights May bank holiday.Every thing you need on a five van site ,acres of room a delight.
