As other reviewers have said, this is a very special place. John is very organised and provides excellent communication and information before arrival, a warm welcome and a very well maintained site with immaculate facilities. We really didn't miss the electric hook up.
We enjoyed exploring the local village, especially the quaint little garden plant sales " just plants "
There is good walking from the site and plenty of interesting on a short drive away.
We will certainly be back !
Received arrival information from site owner a couple of days before arrival which was full of useful information. After accessing the easy to find site we were greeted by the site owner. Immediately noticed that the site was well maintained and cared for. Lovely large area and spaced out pitches. A welcome pack available and an information hut packed full of anything you should need to know and more. Clearly going above and beyond to ensure fully Covid compliant for their guests safety. Located in a really nice village with places for walking the dogs and a village pub only a short walk away. We had a very enjoyable and peaceful stay. We couldn't fault it at all and will be returning.
Second visit it was worth the travelling time over two hundred miles away
Stop over August bank holiday weekend and loved it even after a nightmare start
I arrived with a major fuel leak and only realised at the gate and just to make it much worse it failed to put my handbrake on full when I reversed into my pre booked pitch. As a result my rear axles rolled over the edge and when I tried to pull forward I just dug a big hole in the gravel.
What can I say when John turned up he was very understanding and gave me all the help I needed to get me back on the pitch. Even after I had made a mess of his perfectly present pitch he just cleaned my mess up and went out of his way to help me solve my fuel leak without any signs of irritation. That is something to be admired as this allowed me to really make the most of my peaceful weekend with my young grandchildren.
This site has two hard standing pitches number two is perfect for kids very large pitch with picnic table and wooded area to one side so allowing them to play means it’s so much easier to track them. Please note within 5 minutes walk the village has a immaculate kept children’s play area in the centre of a stunning village with very friendly residents.
Over all if you like off grid type of site with big spaces between pitches it worth a visit
I will not hesitate in going back soon and recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful break
Just returned from our second trip to Newton Grove and enjoyed it even more. Six days off-grid caravanning worked perfectly.
Lots to see and do in the area but we actually enjoyed just chilling and enjoying a life less hectic.
Thanks to John for the fantastic condition the site is kept in, see you next year
We received such a warm welcome by John to his immaculately clean and spacious site. The information board and the welcome pack we were given gave us all the information we could have needed . The site is so quiet and peaceful and surrounded by wonderful countryside with masses of walking opportunities, our dogs loved it. There are solar battery recharging facilities as it is off grid and in our opinion a total gem of a site. We will return!
Our first time here, we stayed 3 nights to break our journey from Portsmouth back to North Wales. We like to go "off grid" whenever we can and this site ticked all the boxes for us.
I don't think it's necessary to repeat the plus points written by previous reviewers they speak for themselves, it's suffice to say that John has put a lot of effort into making this CL a very effective Eco friendly site, it is a good model for other CL's to follow when electric hook ups are not required by members, EHU are not always necessary. Well done John, thank you for your warm welcome and good experience on your site. We will endeavour to come again as 3 nights was not enough!
Oh and by the way the wildlife is good here too, the red kite that regularly hovers over the site gave us a fine display when he swooped down on the site and took what was possibly a mouse for his snack, wonderful!
Our third visit, we were on our way home to Cumbria from Sussex and wanted to break the journey with a stopover. Newton Grove immediately came to mind because it is such a great CL. It is about 20 minutes from the M40 west of Banbury. Since our last visit in October the owner John has made yet more improvements with the addition of an information shelter with notice board, maps, brochures and site info. He has upgraded the mobile solar panel unit with a larger panel, and kept the previous solar panel for use also. Both free to use if required by visitors. The owner is very helpful. We witnessed this first hand during our recent visit when a couple arrived unaware that this is a non hook up site. Their leisure battery was flat and the site owner went the extra mile, charging their battery and hooking them up to the solar power unit.
The local pub, The Duck on The Pond is under new ownership and is now dog and family friendly.
This time we had a very pleasant easy walk from the site to the nearby village of Milcombe (with pub and village covenience store) using footpaths.
We stayed at this site for 4 nights over Easter and we will definitely be returning soon, Newton Grove is a spacious site that is immaculately maintain by the very friendly owner. There are lovely walks all around passing the local Alpaca farms. There is a small playground 5 minutes walk from the site which is next to the local Church is and well worth a visit if it's open. We happily sat for a few hours watching the Swifts come and go from the nests on the church.
Our children (11,9 & 9) were more than happy to run around and explore the little wooded area and star gaze at night. I cannot recommend Newton Grove highly enough and can't wait to go again!
Superb site, extremely clean and tidy, very quiet and with a friendly and helpful owner. Walking in this area is fantastic with many footpaths.
We would stay here again.
