Pleasant CL next to High Peak Trail and friendly, helpful owner

Having been turned down at Brundcliffe Farm due to "concerns about getting bogged down", we were very pleased with this pleasant CL with its wildlife pond and direct access to the High Peak Trail. (We had brought our bikes.) Very peaceful apart from the traffic noise (especially bikers), but this wasn't really a problem. There is one hard standing pitch, and the rest are grass. A bit uneven in places, but nothing that levelling blocks can't sort out. The owner could not have been more pleasant and helpful, and visited several times (sometimes by car, sometimes by quad bike) during our two night stay. And we didn't get bogged down.Smile

A peaceful site surrounded by beauty.

We spent 3 nights on this site from the 15th-17th of july and were blessed with great weather and beautiful sunsets just before the thunderstorms which we were to experience further south on the day that we left. This is a basic but well maintained site surrounded by towns, lakes and scenery to die for with beautiful walks and cycling routes in abundance. The site owner is very commited to environment management on his farm and has a love of wild life about which he speaks most passionately. There is no welcome, as such, you just arrive and set up and remain untroubled by any intrusion into privacy. A visit to the farmhouse when you wish to pay or ask for help or information meets any needs you may require of that nature and the daily visits morning and evening to the adjoining fields to feed livestock and check on the wildlife round the pond provide informal contact opportunities if you wish. Other than this the site requires some levelling skills, not very extreme, in places but is well maintained. The traffic noise from the nearby a road is a little intrusive but otherwise this is a lovely place to be and feel part of the great outdoors. It is handily placed for visiting all the wonderful Peak District towns and lakes and just a wonderfully rejuvenating place to spend time in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and look forward to visiting again.

I can't fault the owners at all, even though we had to leave as soon as we had arrived due to our electrics not working as the water heater tank had broken off and leaking leaving us with water all over our caravan!! He came when we called him with a problem and he fetched a spare power cable to make sure ours was working. I would recommend this place as the surroundings are beautiful, wide open fields a small pond just everything you need for a quite relaxing weekend. We shall be back once we are back up and running again.

Hartington heaven

Great site with access direct onto the Tissington Trail. Have stayed there many times and everything has always been perfect. Very close to and easy access to all the wonderful attractions that the Peak District has to offer. A very warm welcome awaits you from the very friendly owners. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The site is always clean and beautifully maintained. We have been luckly enough to be able to watch the milking of their excellent dairy heard! We will be visiting again and suggest you do the same. The perfect holiday or short break.

Visit to Newhaven Lodge Farm in the Snow, Easter 2013

First thing be aware that the post code quoted, if used on satnav's is some way from farm, as in many country areas. The entrance is off the main road and down a single track to the CL. The track opens out, over a bridge that crosses the trail. For our stay the owner had helpfully dug out two pitches on the hardstanding removing most of the snow that had drifted (as high as the surrounding dry stone walls). As mentioned in another review the hardstanding are some way from the hook ups. You will need two cables. Extension leads were offered by the owner in the case of difficulty. There is a small pond on one side of the site, it is fully fenced off. We agree there is some road noise, heavy lorries use the road during working hours but this was only slightly noticeable rather more at the entrance end, the other part having an earth bank as part of the trial cutting that screens noise. We would judge the the site as quiet - but it does not reach the 'silent' class. There is access to the trial through a gate in the corner of the site.

WHITE PEAK VISIT - NOVEMBER 2012

A great site with a very friendly welcome. Has direct access to the High Peak trail for both walkers and bikes. Owner offered hard standings, but you will need a long hook-up cable as the hard standings are only at one end of the site. Reasonably quite but you can hear road some traffic noise from the A515 but this is not too intrusive. We enjoyed our 2 night stay and would not hesitate in returning for another break.

Pleasant enough but not all that quiet

Very pleasant and helpful owner. Flat, reasonably spacious site. Three grass pitches have pleasant views over fields but the those on the other side (nearest the road) only have glimpses. The details say that it's "quiet" but as it's less than 200m from a fairly busy road, that's not always true! I didn't hear much traffic noise overnight but certainly did evening and early morning.
