Had a great 4 night stay here. Loved the fact there was access to miles of cycle track on our doorstep. Ideally placed for trips to all sorts of places, for us Ashbourne, Buxton, Bakewell. Owner very welcoming and informative and extremely helpful when we got lost finding the place. Beware when approaching though, it can be easily missed, my sat nav took me to the wrong side of the road, directions perhaps needs to be a little clearer. The site is right off the A515 but traffic noise was minimal and did not bother us whatsoever. Ground is a little uneven in places but nothing dramatic. I would definitely recommend this place for others wishing to explore the Peak District. I am sure we will return. Thanks for having us!
Absolutely lovely!
Just stayed a couple of nights on this site and thought it was fantastic! Pitches clearly marked and well spaced out. We arrived a little bit later than others but got a great pitch in the far corner. Well maintained lovely peaceful site. Access directly to the High Peak Trail for easy dog walks. Owners visible but not intrusive - exactly what we wanted. Thank you for a lovely break!

Very good CL, ideal for cycling and dog walking.
Stayed 5 nights at the end of September. Very good grass pitch, easy access to the High Peak Trail and just a short ride to the Tissington Trail. Path down in the corner of the field OK to get bikes and a dog trailer down. Good views and not far from Ilam Hall and Park and Dovedale. No problem with TV reception, just used a sat dish. Hard standing for winter caravanning. Friendly pleasant owners.
Peaceful ideal place to stay
We have just spent 5 days, and loved it. We found it peaceful and very easy access to trails for walking and cycling. Plenty of Nearby small villages, a little noise from the road but not enough to bother us. We cannot fault the owners they were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return again.

Well placed, well kept and well priced
We have just spent a week on this near perfect CL. We were welcomed by Mr Kirkham as soon as we arrived and he could not have been more helpful. There were curlews, lapwings and a family of Canada geese with four chicks in the adjacent field plus very pleasant views. A very handy site for cyclists. All in all an excellent holiday in the Peak District.
Ideal for walkers/cyclists
Basic cl with 10amp electrics.Field is very uneven but lots of pitches to choose from including a couple of hardstandings.T.V reception is poor but point your aerial south for best results.Site is ideal for lovers of walking/cycling as there is direct access to the trails from your doorstep which go for miles either way. There is road noise but didn't bother us.Lovely dog friendly pub in Monyash called The Bulls Head that served big portions of very tasty food.Site is well placed to use as a base for exploring all the towns and villages.Only saw the owner a couple of times but he was very helpful and pleasant.

Centrally placed
This site is easy to find. Its mainly level but you may need blocks. However, if you want to watch your tv and you have the whip type ariel forget it, we tried several times and never managed to get one single station. The owner Graham did say that reception here is "iffy". The other slight niggle was road noise, the A515 is a busy road with lots of heavy trucks and as the wind was coming from the road it was not quite as peaceful as we had hoped. However, that aside is a very pleasant little site with just the basics. The great thing is that its very easy to get to all the attractions in the Peak District and with the High Peak Trail being literally at the "bottom of the garden" its a great place for walking and cycling. The weather was not particularly kind with one night producing strong wind and rain that saw two caravans packing up the next day early but did not deter us - our new Kampa Air awning holding up very well! We would return should we want to return to the area. The owners were pleasant and stopped to chat a couple of times.
Perfect for us!
Stayed here 4 nights in March. Graham the owner was very welcoming and helpful. There are 2 wildlife ponds with a variety of birdlife including Curlews, Moorhens, black pheasant, Canada geese, and even a cormorant. The pitches are large but as previously stated need a bit of levelling but not a major problem. Facilities are basic but quite adequate as we used our own van toilet and shower. There is access to the High Peak Trail directly off site for bicycles or walking and this also joins the Tissington Trail nearby. The location is handy for the towns of Ashbourne, Bakewell and Buxton. The smaller villages of Youlgreave, Monyash and Alport are very near and are lovely places from which to explore the beautiful Dales. Lathkill Dale and Bradford Dale are stunningly beautiful walks and our dogs loved it. The lovely village of Hartington is only 5 mins away with a variety of small shops and two pubs and the Jug and Glass is just up the main road from the site. There is a little road noise but didn't bother us at all and we live in open countryside at home. In our opinion this is a cracking little CL. We will return soon.
Oct 2014
Only stayed for a long weekend but enjoyed the scenery and places visited so much that we are returning for a longer Easter break. Are going to take bikes this time to fully use the cycle trail that we were only able to walk a short way on before. Owners very friendly and gave us good advice as to where to find a lovely river/weirs to walk next to.
