We recently visited this cl for the first time.
First impressions were excellent, getting through the gate was no problem. We were allocated our pitch, our name and pitch number was on the board inside the entrance. The pitches are generously sized and with a tap and electric on every pitch. The grey waste can be piped into the
ditch at the back of the pitch.
There are high bushes all along the back of the pitches.
The general waste bins, recycling and toilet emptying are tucked away behind bushes very neatly, not on view at all.
We met Heather who was exceptionally friendly and very helpful.
The farm tractors were busy while we were there and lovely to watch, but not disturbing us.
Overall a lovely peaceful site, excellent location, would certainly recommend and definitely visit again.
Lovely CL not far from the M5, in the village of Slimbridge very near the wildfowl centre. Flat well maintained field with good boundary hedge and dog walk. Even though we used this as a stop over Heather came to welcome us and check we were ok. The whole site felt well cared for and we were treated to two hot air balloons going over head in the early morning Would definitely recommend if you like a peaceful pretty location.
This is our fifth visit to this CL this year! I almost write this reluctantly, as not sure I want to tell too many people, and then not be able to get a pitch ourselves!! We have family and friends in this area, so the location is perfect! The owners Iain and Heather are always very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. We have never heard the “bird scarer” on our visits, so maybe this was just a one off?? The pitches are a great size, with taps and ehu on each pitch. We have a large 8.5 metre / 5 tonne Motorhome, and they usually put us on a hardstanding, but their grass looks firm, and we have seen motorhomes on the grass pitches. We usually go to The Old Fox in Coaley for a roast dinner, and can highly recommend this as one of the best roasts in the area!! Thank you Iain and Heather, it’s always a pleasure to visit your immaculately maintained CL!!
Our initial reaction on arrival was ‘wow’. The pitches were huge, a board at the entrance told us which pitch to use. The views were stunning and it seemed very peaceful. This was a Sunday. On Monday morning at 7.30 the bird scarer started, two bangs approximately every half an hour until 9.50 at night. We travel with two dogs and for one of our dogs this was terrifying meaning we couldn’t stay at the van during the day. First wee’s had to be done before 7.30 and for last wee’s we had to drive elsewhere.
I appreciate this is a working farm and had it been spring the scarers would have been expected.
Whilst the site was perfectly located and lovely we won’t return. I am not writing this review as a complaint. Farming life is hard and they need to do all they can to protect their crops. Just as a warning to members with nervous dogs or anyone with an issue with repetitive banging.
Stayed here 4 nights to break our journey to Devon. It's a nice site, especially if you can get one of the grass pitches. We were on a hard standing, which was ok, but some previous user had spoilt part of the grassed area. Great views and handy to walk to the wildlife park and the Tudor Arms.
We've just returned from a 2 night stay at this very well maintained CL. We like the fact that there is a board telling you which pitch you're on and with water and EHU on each pitch we were soon set up. Site was immaculate and very peaceful and is ideally placed for a visit to Slimbridge Wetland Centre. Heather was lovely and remembered us for a previous stay. Would definitely recommend.
Excellent site. Very easy access from M5. Well maintained, quiet site with friendly, helpful owners. Water and waste water disposal (ditch) on each pitch very convenient.
Stayed for 5 nights late Feb 2022, including throughout storm Franklin! Site was just sheltered enough to deflect the worst of the storm. Access is easy and whilst very close to and handy for the M5, the site is very quiet and we couldnt hear the traffic at all.
All of the pitches are flat and level (grass and hard standing) and very dry, even in February?
Would definitely recomend
This was our very first visit to a CL and it couldn't have been better.
An easy to get to location, although the lane to the site is a bit narrow without many passing places, luckily we didnt meet a tractor or cattle lorry on our drives in and out!.
The owners are very friendly and made sure we knew where everything was, a whiteboard gave the information as to which pitch we had so we could just pitch up however the rain had washed it off! (storm Dudley).. we chose correctly confirmed by the lovely Heather. there are now 3 hard standings (the photos show only two) a small semi enclosed area has the rubbish separation bins and Black waste dump which is clean and easy to use, grey water gets poured into a drainage ditch so a grey water hose attached to the drain tap would be brilliant, we used our wastemaster then just tipped it in now and then. The small dog walk area is an ideal size, there is also plenty of footpaths through larger fields adjacent to the site, which our collie enjoyed thoroughly
We ran out of milk so took a walk into Slimbridge thinking the post office would have some, unfortunately not, it is just a post office. So we had to take the MH into Cam where there is a Shell garage with a Spar attached or further into the village a cafe or two etc and a Tesco supermarket. The area seems pleasant but we didn't get time to explore to much due to the storms. The Owners were extremely busy as they were calving but still made time to make sure we were ok. a Lovely site that would be even better in the summer months, we will stay here again if in the area and are looking forward to more CL stays in the future.
We stayed on this site for four nights in the middle of October, a lovely CL beautifully looked after, very neat and tidy, easy access, your own tap and electric, sheltered from any wind and despite very heavy rain over two of the nights we were there no problem with any lying water, a very well drained site.
Plenty to do in the area, lovely walking although the Canal area would obviously be very busy in high season but lots of alternatives.
A real find, we will certainly be returning.
