What a hidden gem

Mewslade View is a fantastic location with lovely views across the fields to the Sea. The owners are particularly friendly. A pre-trip use of Google Street view was handy to know where the entrance was but even then we weren't too sure it was the right way in as it was quite narrow. Don't be put off you go down a short track and then bear right to get in to the Site itself. The walk to Mewslade Bay is lovely though rocky down to the sand itself. At the bottom of the first field from the Site there is a bench where you could just sit and enjoy the view and the peace and quiet. Rhossili is a short 15 minute walk away along some easily navigable tracks. On our last day we visited The View at Rhossili for lunch which serves excellent Food. On another day we visited Oxwich Bay with lunch at the Oxwich Bay Hotel with its stunning location overlooking the Beach. After the roads had re-opened after the Ironman Triathlon on the Sunday we went to the Gower Heritage Museum who serve a rather nice Welsh Lamb Cawl - a meal in itself. We would certainly come back again - it is very much worth the journey. Thank you to our Hosts for letting us use their Field.

Jiffy the motorhome

Absolute gem of a site. Fabulous location for a wide variety of walks. Beautiful coves it swim in. Bus stop outside site. Welsh cakes on sale outside a locals home, which we treated ourselves every day! Lovely and cool up on the downs. Amazing hosts who made us very welcome, and told us all the history of the area. Will definitely return.

Great site

This is a brilliant site with fantastic views to the hilltops and sea,we were at the bottom of the field and had plenty of room to put our sun canopy up but the higher you get it’s harder to put an awning up even though the caravan pitch was level the ground was on an incline after.Excellent for smaller motor homes. The access to the site is tight to say the least and comes up on you very quick when approaching.Very close to Rhosilli bay and the “worms head” and what breathtaking views. Will hopefully return.

Fantastic Easter break

Followed route directions on the site page which lead us straight there. (Be carful it’s easy to go past it) Gordon greeted us and as it was a bit wet he used his Land Rover to pitch us.. (needed levelling blocks) Set up and water was stones throw away(pitch 3) Walked just outside to the beach( tidal so be aware of times) lovely clean beach and water. Views from the site are amazing. Walked to Rhossilli with the dog( 12-15 mins. (Easy walk) Got a bus back(got lucky with the time) Stayed 3 nights the stars in the sky were breathtaking Dodged the rain. Last day to take awning down. Gordon was there again to tow is up… wouldn’t have made it without him. Anyway. Well recommended site and will soon be booking in for a summer weekend

Great location

This CL is in a great location. You can walk directly from the site on to the coastal path and, whilst it is a bit of a scramble, down to the beautiful beach. It is a great spot for dog walkers. Do follow the guidance for access to the site. It is a bit tight! Do not attempt it with a large unit. The site itself, though, is very spacious, although sloping, and a relaxing place to be. There are two water points and other utilities at the top of the field. This does need a bit of tidying up, though, and there is a leak at the toilet emptying point. Overall, it is a great spot and we will return.

Wow

What a marvelous place. On our way back home we only could stay 2 nights. But we enjoyed double. Sitting outside with a nice view, walks with the dog, chatting with the owner, eating the home made welsh cakes and jam ( sold around the corner) , walking to Rossili and descending to the beach, swimming in our own quiet beach ( for Dutch people with a rather steep entrance). Nothing more to wish.

Another great stay

We were lucky enough to have stayed here for 2 weeks over the heatwave period, just got back on 25th July. It’s our 3rd time and again had a great time. As everyone says great views, beaches, walks. And both Gordon and Beryl the owners are very friendly and happy to give help and advice. We enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, and it’s always pleasant to talk to other campers on passing their pitches at the end of a day’s walking or visiting the beaches. My favourite beach is The Fall although it’s quite taxing to climb down to, but as we’re both pensioners it’s doable.

Amazing Location

We have just returned from staying 8 days at Mewslade View CL & were blessed with glorious sunny weather. The CL is set in the most wonderful location for walking the coastal path & the views are amazing. The site is set just above Mewslade Bay which is lovely when the tide is out & it is an amazing sight watching the waves come crashing in at high tide. Walks to Port Eynon & around the coast to Worms Head & Rhossili are highly recommended as is the walk over Rhossili Down to Burry Holms. The site does slope but defined pitches have been levelled for campervans & caravans. Unfortunately we wanted to put our awning up so we had to park the car on the level & the caravan & awning on a slight slope. The pitches are very big & there was plenty of space between everyone. The entrance is a bit tricky but with care we managed to get in without any problems. It is certainly well worth it. The owner always offers to help if anyone has any trouble getting off the site. A truly wonderful location for a CL.

Not for Motorhomes

Holidaying in a motorhome is more about travelling than staying. I normally only stay one night at any particular location. CLs that expect you to stay 3 nights are not, in my view, motorhome friendly. Their website should state their minimum length of stay. Planning a trip is difficult enough without these extra, arbitrary, limitations.

next time

Sadly didn't make it to this lovely site this time due to my elderly Labrador taking a turn for the worst, but would like to say how kind and understanding Mr Howe was when I rang the morning of the booking to cancel. Look forward to staying here in the near future, it looks stunning.
