Beautiful Well-Kept Site!

We stayed here for the last weekend in February for 3 nights. What a pretty, well-kept site and Graham, the owner, was very welcoming. We were the only ones on the site so had the pick of the pitches but opted for the one that Graham had kindly put our name sign on. My brother and sister-in-law arrived later with their van. The site is lovely and despite there being the road at the side of it, it is not intrusive as the site is well protected and private thanks to the tall, well maintained hedges that run all around. The water point and bins are well thought out and so organised. (I like organised!) There is an easily accessible ground level CDP. Graham later came to us with a very comprehensive Information Folder that had everything in it from local attraction information to eateries and takeaways. Particularly useful if you are not local and are visiting the area from further afield than us. There is dog walking off the site and dogs are to be kept tethered/ on leads whilst on site and there is a dedicated dog waste bin on the site. Overall this site is lovely and obviously cared about by Graham- it shows in the presentation of the site and the welcome you receive. We look forward to returning :-)

BEAUTIFUL WELL KEPT SITE

This is a lovely site and is kept in tip top condition for all of their visitors. The little sign with our names on it on the pitch when we arrived was a very nice touch. The welcome pack of brochures and leaflets is comprehensive and extremely useful. We would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone.

Extremely relaxing and well kept site

Our first CLASS experience as new motor homers. Fantastic site, large level pitches. Great walks very close by for our Labrador. A great welcome from Graham both he and Melody helped make this a pleasurable short break. If you like to get away from it all and chill this is the site for you.

Fantastic site is an under statement

We stayed at this site in July, the welcome was the best we have ever had. The site is wonderful & private, very well laid out with plenty of room. We have voted this as CL site of the year. We wish this was our back garden! Happy

Another 'must keep secret' place!

We have visited this CL on several occasions and it never fails to please. Arrival is easy - pull through the gate and spot your name on a welcome board, set up and relax! There is loads of space between vans, the grass is well kept, the facilities are basic but clean and tidy, the owners are welcoming but not intrusive. There is an excellent dog walk across the road - turn right as you leave the site and spot the public footpath sign. The only down side is the road that passes the site - traffic can pass at an alarming speed and caution is needed when pulling away after your stay - I usually stand in the road and wave!

Very nice

Just got back home after five nights here and can agree with the other comments, a very nice and well kept CL.  Plenty of room between caravans and the pitches were level and well drained.  A very peaceful site with plenty of quiet roads if you're a keen cyclist like myself.  The city of Lincoln is a 20 minute drive away.

Network gem

The trouble with doing this review, is that it let’s everybody in on the secret of what a wonderful site Mere Oaks is. It is our favourite CL. The thoughtful landscaping, with mature trees and shrubs means that each pitch has it’s own privacy, something we have so often found lacking on other sites. This picturesque site is sheltered, level and with very well drained sandy soil, making the pitches excellent whatever the weather and whatever time of year one is fortunate enough to visit. The access is very easy, even for larger outfits and each spacious pitch is clearly marked with a personalised welcome board. The maintenance of the site is first class as everywhere always looks immaculate. Graham and Melody are both very friendly, welcoming people and nothing is too much trouble. We can’t recommend this site highly enough to anyone who is looking to stay somewhere just that extra bit special. This lovely peaceful site, in the heart of the Lincolnshire countryside, gives easy access to walking and cycling as well as the tourist trail.

ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SITES

Mere Oaks CL is one of my favourite sites and I have visited this site on several occasions and always found the owners to offer a friendly welcome on arrival.  Graham and Melody always put up a welcome sign on the pitch and offer an information pack providing a number of local leaflets and maps of woodland walks direct from the site.  The site is picturesque with well cut grass, and trees and scrubs dividing the pitches giving a nice degree of privacy from one pitch to the next. Unfortunately the 2 local pubs are closed at present but there are others within 3 miles which offer a good range of fine foods and real ales.  The site is level and access to the site is very easy from the B1202 but as mentioned in some of the previous reviews the road can be busy at work times but at other times can be as quiet as any other rural country B class road. When the previous review was written it was at the time when 7 railway bridges in the immediate locality were being replaced and traffic was diverted along the B1202 for several months but as far as I can see the volume of traffic is now back to normal.  All in all I could recommend this CL to anyone wishing to visit the countryside with its woodland walks and within easy reach of the City of Lincoln with its splendid cathedral and only half an hours drive to the Lincolnshire Wolds.

ONE OF THE BEST

We stayed nine nights on this most fantastic CL early July 13. The owners were exceptional friendly and very helpful. The condition of this CL has to be one of the best we have experienced on in 43yrs of staying on CLs. Unfortunately the two closet pubs are closed. There is a very good Co-Op supermarket 3 miles away. The CL his surrounded by tall conifer hedges cutting out any views of the countryside but making the CL secluded. There is a bus every 30mins from Potteranworth which is about one mile from the CL to Lincoln City (can park the car easily in Potteranworth). The down side to this remarkable CL is the road noise which is worse at weekends because of motorcycles roaring past which is far louder than the HGVs passing during the week, so one needs to have a high tolerance to road noise if staying on this CL. There is a 40mph speed limit sign outside the CL for this tiny village but most drivers (not all) and especially motorcycles riders tend to ignore the limit so making the road noise more severe while passing the CL which is on the edge of the village. So 110% for the CL and 0” for its location alongside a noisy road.

Message from Community Staff:

Many thanks for taking the time to write a review of this site. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay at Mere Oaks. The site owner has contacted us with a response to this review.

“Hello, thank you for your kind review left about our CL. We would like to respond to the mention of the road that runs by our site as we appreciate that it can get busy. During the summer 7 local railway bridges were closed for maintenance/replacement and road diversions increased the volume of traffic passing Mere Oaks.  Thankfully these bridges have all reopened and although commuters still use the road, the level of traffic has dropped. We have also notified the police who have been running speed limit checks along this 40mph stretch. I hope that this helps to reassure anyone who is considering staying on this site. If you have any queries regarding this or anything else, please do contact us. Thank you again for leaving a review.”

Lovely CL

Have just returned from two nights at this beautifully well maintained and loved CL. The site is very well sheltered with a high perimeter conifer hedge. You are made to feel very welcome from the welcome sign on your pitch to the site information provided. We used this site as an opportunity to play golf at the very well appointed 9 hole golf course about 1/2 mile from the site. The dogs had a great time as there is a lovely walk through the woods only about 100m from the site. Ideal site for exploring the area. Only draw-back is the road noise. To be fair this does not spoil your evening or your sleep as the road is generally quieter in the evenings. Well done to Graham and Melody for producing such a lovely site. The pictures on the web site give you a very clear idea about the beauty of this site.
