Fantastic Site

Been going to this site for 8 years now(apart from civic years)The warm welcome from Stephanie and Julian cannot be faulted. There are 2 fishing lakes, 1 trout, 1 carp with fish up to 30lb and 2 ponds, 1 carp and 1 course fishing. Each caravan pitch has plenty of room and the tranquillity is amazing. Although the lane down is a little narrow it is well worth it. The site is close to Military Road and not too far from Newport town and supermarkets. We found parking in multi story in Newport - 12 hours for £4.50 directly opposite bus station. We could get a bus anywhere on the Island. Having a bus pass was a bonus but any destination was £2.00. Julian also gets a deal with Red Funnel ferries. We will be back 2025.

Excellent CL

The other reviews don't exaggerate. The site is in a lovely, peaceful rural area and is beautifully kept, with marked out mown pitches, each with electric hookup and shared water tap. Owners Stephanie and Julian were very welcoming and a mine of helpful local information. If you like wildlife, this is the place for you. During our stay in June the site was regularly visited by a hare and pheasants, and there were swans and dragonflies around the fishing lakes. The owners have put owl boxes in trees next to the pitches, and at the time of our stay these were occupied by kestrels and barn owls. We regularly saw the barn owls hunting at dusk, were given regular updates on progress of the three fledgeling owlets by Julian and Stephanie, who have a webcam set up. The site is well located for visiting the local area, including Brighstone, Mottistone Gardens, Compton Bay and The Needles. The approach to the site from either direction is via single track country lanes which are narrow in places, so caution is required if towing or driving a larger motorhome - but don't let this put you off!

A REAL GEM !!!!!!!!!

This is a short review ! The place is quiet, tranquil and the welcome is warm. What more do you want! :) Discounted ferry travel helped. Its bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop, but thats about the only thing that wasnt 5* about the whole stay! The toilet is adequate and ALWAYS spotless!!! Just a beautiful site.! Nb. Make sure you use GREEN fluid in your travel loo not blue! Will Deffo be going back but in the Motorhome next time not the camper/ awning. You wont regret visiting this site but you will regret not staying longer! :)

Stunning CL

Lovely CL in a tranquil setting beside well maintained fishing lakes. Great discount on ferry crossings. Site well cared for with exceptionally clean facilities. Lovely, attentive owners. In 40 years of caravaning, I don't recall a better welcome than we had here, with a cup of tea (or coffee), a biscuit and a run down on the facilities and locality . Hope to return soon. Well done.

Well managed site in a beautiful area

Neat and tidy site with wildlife and lakes. It's in a beautiful part of the isle of wight, the west and south are fabulous for walking and cycling. Owners and other users are friendly and welcoming. If you are lucky there might be some free range eggs to purchase!

Lovely peaceful spot

This is a very peaceful spot near the South of the island, there are a number of fishing lakes for those interested and a very clean 24 hr toilet. There is freshwater on each pitch and a grey water and chemical toilet (green fluid) disposal within a few yards. Stephanie and Julien are very welcoming and can offer helpful advice on local amenities. The Crown in Shorwell, is very worthy of a visit and the Tandem tearoom in Brighstone does a very nice cream tea. We will definitely return!

Ideal for us!

Fabulous hosts, couldn’t do enough for you. Site very well maintained & WC immaculate. Location perfect for MTB to visit most popular places like, The Needles, Yarmouth, Ryde, Shanklin, Sandown, Ventnor, St Catherine’s Lighthouse just to name a few and IOW MTB centre near by. Within walking distance to the coast where we got to see some fantastic sunsets! We wouldn’t hesitate to go again. Thank you Steph & Julian.

Perfik ( with apologies to David Jason)

Everything just lovely here, from the offer of a a welcoming cup of tea to the goodbyes accompanied by a chocolate , Stephanie and Julian certainly go the extra mile. The attention to detail from the lovely pitches to the immaculate facilities are a reflection of the pride this couple take in their CL , and all this ,imo , the best area on the IOW. There is nothing not to like. It was the hottest week of the year when we visited and a Shower would have been an absolute bonus, but that is just me.

A peaceful and tranquil site

Been to this site many times before but it is our first time back since the pandemic.Stephanie and Julian greeted us with their usual enthusiasm as if it was only yesterday. Beautiful site, scenery and a variation of wildlife. For the fishing enthusiast there is some great fishing on the small carp and course lake. For the more experienced fisherman there is larger carp lake with fish up to 30lb.We will certainly be back Thank you for making our time with you memorable

Total Tranquility

This was our second stay at Meadow Lakes and it was just as good as we remembered. We stayed for 3 weeks in June into early July. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Stephanie and Julian who gave us all the information on the site we needed. The site has a toilet which was always clean and well stocked. And of course there was fishing available on site. The wildlife was so amazing, with owls, swans, geese, hares and numerous other birds, there was always something different to see. Meadow Lakes is well positioned for visiting attractions on the island and there are several pretty beaches nearby. The island has a good network of public transport, with a bus stop situated approximately 25 minutes walk away. The nearby village of Brighstone is approximately 30 minutes walk and has a pub serving good meals, a shop, two cafes, and a church. The Crown at Shorwell was a particular favourite of ours, serving really good meals, again approximately 30 minutes walk. We were delighted that there are safe cycles routes accessed directly from the site which allowed us to tour without using the busier roads. Being a small CL site allowed us to meet quite a few fellow caravaners who were always ready for a chat. All in all we would recommend Meadow Lakes to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, pretty site, where the owners work hard to maintain its pristine condition. Thanks you for making us feel so welcome, we arrived as acquaintances, left as friends. We'll see you next year.
