A piece of rural heaven

This must have been our third visit to the site - it's just so beautiful, peaceful and well maintained. It really is such a treat to arrive -you drive through the narrow crowded streets of Halling, turn a few corners and there it is - a real delight, hidden away from all the traffic and houses. The hens and geese are entertaining to watch, the views across the valley are spectacular, there are vintage buses to admire and the site itself is spacious with the electric points spaced well apart - walking through the beautiful cottage garden to the waste disposal point is also a treat for gardeners! The site itself is very quiet, we always sleep so well here - can't quite understand Sunshine 1's comments about noise - sounded as if it was a completely different place he was reviewing! Visit this lovely farm and you won't be disappointed.

Would certainly Recommend

We stayed at this site, this weekend just gone, We had an amazing time, very quiet and tranquil, plenty to do and visit around surrounding area. The owners are polite, very friendly and accommodating. Geese Ducks and Chickens roam around but don't bother you as long as you don't feed them. Slightly sloped but not a problem We would certainly recommend Manor Farm and certainly WILL be back.

We stayed here for a couple of weeks late last year. Lovely site, really friendly and helpful owners for first time caravaners! We would go back if in the area.

Great example of a CL site - peaceful, quiet & well cared for

Lovely CL site in the Village of Halling near Rochester. Tucked down a private road quite easily accessible even for a novice like me. Very well kept fields, slightly sloping but not a problem. Electric hookup and water point. Chemical toilet emptying provision. TV signal is good , phone signal & WiFi adequate. Very helpful & friendly welcome by owner. One really nice feature is the livestock wandering around freely in the daytime. Geese , Ducks & Chickens. Also free range eggs available to purchase. They’re very friendly and inquisitive if you like to feed them. Another great attraction is the collection of vintage busses & coaches. Stunning old vehicles which are often brought out on show with a group of enthusiasts tinkering around with them. Site is fantastic for dog owners, having some lovely walks literally on the doorstep with a lake and the river nearby. The Village of Halling has 2 shops including a Post Office , and 2 Pubs within very easy walking distance. Both Pubs are Dog friendly as far as I’m aware , we only tried out one which definitely was ! Rochester is an easy drive away. Plenty of supermarkets and shops nearby by car. Thoroughly recommended site. A great example of what a CL site should be.

A very peaceful and charming CL site

We have been here for 8 days and I really can’t fault it. The grounds are extremely well looked after, very peaceful to the point all you hear is the birds chirping in the surrounding trees. There is an array of live stock which includes geese, ducks and chickens which are all very friendly, with the added bonus of fresh organic eggs available at very reasonable prices. The owners are very accommodating and friendly. There are also a collection of vintage busses and coaches that are housed here. There are often a few enthusiasts here tinkering around with the vehicles and who are always pleased to have a chat. Lovely to see the old busses out getting looked after. Electric hookup. TV signal is good and phone & Internet signal is ok. 2 Pubs within very easy walking distance. Both dog friendly. Some really good dog walks right on the doorstep. One through public footpaths through a wildlife preservation area. A lake and river nearby. Short drive into Rochester. Lovely place, thoroughly recommended. Quiet, peaceful and absolutely love the friendly livestock wandering around freely.

Peaceful site with good local facilities.

Very surprised to read Sunshine 1's comment about "constant roar of traffic". I understand that traffic noise is dependent on weather conditions but having stayed here under a variety of conditions I have never heard any traffic noise, whether from the M2 about 4km away or more minor local roads, that was anything more than a slight background noise. In general I have found it quieter than other CLs I have stayed at. I have also found the owners very helpful and accommodating and the site very peaceful with good local facilities and pleasant walks locally. There is also easy access to local bus services and a railway station with frequent services.

Manor Farm - nice site but constant roar of traffic and beware of the goose poo!

I don't know if we were unlucky with the wind direction but all through our 6 night stay there was a constant roar of traffic all day and all night, which despite the lovely weather meant it wasn't pleasant to sit out. My husband had to resort to ear plugs to sleep! The other disappointment was our pitch: when we arrived we were told where to pitch. Unfortunately it was an area frequently used by the geese, ducks and hens. We had to clear the area of goose poo before we could put the awning up. About 10 minutes after we were set up, a caravan from the other side of the field departed. Had we been told they were going we would have waited and set up well away from the goose poo - we were constantly having to clear it during our stay. Directions for getting there are excellent and it was easy to access all local places of interest. Not sure if we would stay again though.

Mature Couple

Just spent a week at this site, and had an enjoyable time. Much rain before we arrived and while there, but no trouble with access over the grass. Warm and helpful welcome. No good views but old buses were interesting. Did not need to use the car at all, as within 5 mins walk of bus stop and were able to use buses (free) to reach Rochester, Chatham, Upnor Castle and Tilbury Fort.

Really Lovely CL

We have stayed at Manor Farm several times due to visiting family in the area and also discovering there is so much to do and see here that we've sneeked back to enjoy it all again and even brought friends with their caravan too. The site is within 10 mins from either the M20 or M2 making it ideal if you're on your way to or from France, just be sure to book more than one night as you'll be kicking yourself for not being able to fit everything in. Access to the site is fantastic, very peaceful and really well thought out and the site is very well cared for, the owners are really friendly and welcoming. Fresh eggs are available from the resident ducks, chicken and geese which live in the next field but some came to visit us which is entertaining. Part of the field is sloping, however Mr & Mrs Catchpole know the easiest way to pitch up if you ask but we had no problem, also part of the field is flat, making it ideal for motorhomes and larger units. (we like it at the top of the field for the views over the river) The area is very interesting, Chatham Dockyard, Rochester town, cathederal, castle and riverfront, Gillingham Riverside Park and Strand, Chatham Outlet Centre, Diggerland, Maidstone town and river to mention a few. You can even hop on a train and visit London. There are also good walks direct from the site along the River Medway. Supermarkets are within ten mins, Tesco, Marks and Sparks and Aldi as well as two shops in the village and two pubs. I could go on and on but I think I will finish with this is how a CL should be, cared for, well looked after, lovely owners and a lovely place to weekend or holiday. Definatley one of the best CLs on the network.
