We have just returned from this CL and found it ideal. The pitches are large and well spaced out and on clear days you will have a view of the Malverns. Very friendly welcome and updates on things to do in the area including the fishing in the CLs pool. We enjoyed it and will return again.
One slight observation would be to provide an incline to the waste point as trying to manage a full waste and empty it on bricks three high could be difficult for an older caravanner, also be aware that you will need to get your entrance right as it could be a little tight. Very minor things really but would make an improvement.
This was our last stop on a 5 CL tour from Norfolk that included Oxford, Wells, Bude, Shaftsbury and Worcester. All the sites had been preboked 6 weeks before we set off and we had originally been booked in Manor Farm at Lower Wick. However on our arrival at Lower Wick we found 7 other units there and although we tried to contact the owner and indeed left several messages ob both mobile and landline we never received anything back from them. A cleaner at the Manor Farm Glamping site told us it was our job to ask someone else to move off and if that failed we were to "leave and not come back". Another unit at Manor Farm (a motorhome that had arrived the previous day after booking in 3 months prior) lent us their handbook and we phoned Maisey Cottage and Mrs. Dunwell said that she had a spare pitch which had unexpectedly become available only 2 hours previously. Thank you so much as Maisey Cottage was so much nicer in every way than Lower Wick. Properly marked out pitches, plenty of space, clean and tidy with stunning views over the surrounding Malvern Hills. It turned out that Welland Steam Fair was taking place just down the road and we visited that on the Saturday morning before visiting family in Worcester (Manor Farm was only a mile from family which is why I had originally booked). As mentioned the gateway is a little tight so take your time. However when we need to go to Worcester again we shall certainly return to Maisey Cottage and thank you once again from rescuing us!
Such a great little site with beautiful views and lots of footpaths nearby, close to The Malvern Three Counties Showground but far enough away to escape the crowds and noise. Hanley Swan just a brisk walk away and if on bikes, Upton is also well worth a visit. The site has more than enough room for the 5 allocated pitches and even with awnings etc you will not feel you are encroaching upon others space. Will definitely be revisiting this site in the future.
Gate into the field is a little tight, so watch how you approach! No mishaps for us, but noticed the gate post had a few fresh marks. The hook ups and allotted area per caravan are well marked. Providing ample room between each unit. The view across the field to the Malverns id beautiful and the area quite from road noise. The site is excellent for Upton, The Malverns and the Three Counties Show ground. Word of warning, you can hear the entertainment from the show ground, so pick your weekend break carefully. Plenty if dog friendly walks in the area, good pubs and butcher at Hanley Swan.
We stayed a week and used it to explore the surrounding area......the location is ideal. It's a 5 minute walk down the path to the nearest pub although we can't say what it was like. Upton on Severn was a 20-30 minute walk where there are lots of pubs and a selection of shops. Watch out for the resident barn owl that patrols the field opposite in it's quest for food for it's chicks. Good recycling, grass cut short and simple facilities more than adequate.
We have just returned from Maisey Cottage and had a lovely break. The site is very quiet and surrounded by wonderful green views. Lots of swallows flying around. The owners were close by if needed but everything was easy to find. You could just pitch were there was a spot. Plenty of room for each unit.
We took the dog and there was a nice big field next to the hook up where we could walk her as well as lots of lovely walks directly from the site.
We had a short drive to walk across the Malvern hills and were lucky enough to have clear views.
You can easily walk to the Three Kings pub. Follow the path that runs along side the caravans until you reach the cricket ground, walk through the ground and you are there. We timed it to five minutes, relaxed pace. It is a very quirky pub but best to order Ales and not larger :-0
For food, the nearest place we saw was The Swan in Hanley Swan. The food was really good and the pub had a pleasant atmosphere.
We only had a short break so apart from a drive to Upton, it was mostly spent relaxing or walking. In Upton which is very picturesque, we found 'the pudding shop' which is a bit off the beaten track and in a warehouse type building. We wondered in and sampled a pudding or two. Lovely. We had a very warm welcome and some complimentary chocolate concrete.
A lovely site and wonderful area to visit. I would definitely return.
Have been here several times and will be going back as long as they have room! Well kept site. Lovely view of Malvern Hills. Not far to shop for newspapers, groceries, fresh bread and Post Office - in Hanley Swan. Lot of choice of places to walk including Castlemorton common, and the hills of course! Owners very friendly and helpful.
Lovely location just outside Upton, but walkable along the river or through woods and lanes. The view was good of the Malverns , it is an open aspect and we were lucky enough to have a wonderful sunset on one of our nights. The owners were friendly and helpful. The field is a reasonable size
There is short walk to a wonderful old fashioned pub called the Three Kings in the village . It is almost in someone's parlour! They serve a cup of tea too.
Recently stayed here and enjoyed beautiful weather.
Good points - Within striking distance of several interesting towns, cities and villages. Supermarkets within short driving distance. Friendly owners who call at van once sited.
Flat, mown pitches with easy access to El.pts.
Several walking routes in vicinity (if you know where they go).
Very good value for money.
Not so good - Be careful upon entering. The first gate can be deceptive and needs a bit of a swing in to clear van.
Water tap pressure rather weak so be patient at filling time.
Bins provided but no clear instructions ref. recycling. This bin became full quickly.
Overall a good C.L. that offers great value at current prices.
A fantastic site in a wonderful setting, overlooks the Malvern Hills with stunning views alround, its a 45min stroll into Upton on Severn with its plentyfull bars and restaurants, an ideal location for all ages to explore the surrounding countryside, the owners are very helpfull with information regarding the best places and areas to visit, we have already booked to go back soon.
