This is a lovely CL in a great location. The owners are very friendly and welcoming.
They have recently block paved all the hard standings and put a little milk churn in the corner of each pitch, just to make it look nice, which it does! Also there is a water tap on the EHU pillar on each pitch, which is nice! The toilet is nice and clean. Would definitely revisit this one!
(NB: 3 of the 4 pubs mentioned in the description are now closed, 2 due to Covid and 1 permanently, so the only one open atm is the Red Lion, which is about 2.5 miles away. We called in while we were out on a walk).
What a perfect CL
We have just spent 7 nights at Lower Moorend View after a period of lockdown and it was absolutely delightful. A really clean hard standing level pitch with plenty of room on grass for our awning. Each pitch has its own water tap which was a great facility. Views surrounding the site are stunning. It is also extremely peaceful. I note a negative review mentioning the owners dogs, yes there are two dogs but can honestly say they never caused us any bother whatsoever, we never witnessed them roaming the site and we definitely didn’t hear them barking. Great location for exploring nearby Ashbourne, Bakewell, Derby, Matlock and Buxton. Two toilets for exclusive use which are perfectly adequate and clean. The site hosts Natalie and Dan are so welcoming and whilst new to the caravan business they have personality and welcoming skills in abundance. They just want you to have a perfect time and cannot do enough for you if you ask them. Plenty of hand sanitizer and antiseptic wash in the toilet too,
We would definitely visit this site again.
Thank you we throughly enjoyed ourselves.
Well equipped site in lovely location.
We normally disapprove of sites with hard standings laid out in a row, but here they have a beautiful brick surface and are spaced well apart. It was good to have our own water tap as well. There are beautiful views over the Peak District and an intriguing quarry down the road. Natalia gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful. Lots of interesting places around: we particularly enjoyed Cheadle (a bit run down, but two beautiful churches) and Leek. Lovely walks too, especially along the disused railway line from the quarry.

Beautiful views and a warm welcome
We were made to feel very welcome by Natalia and Dan, during our 3 night stay.
They have worked hard during lockdown to improve the site and now have 5 lovely flat hardstanding pitches with EHU and own water supply.
There is also a very well maintained toilet block (2 loos).
The field is securely walled and fenced and all beautifully maintained.
Although close to the quarry, the views across the valley are beautiful. A great place to sit and enjoy the sunset.
We know the area pretty well but have never walked in and arounnd Cauldon. It is so pretty with lots of footpaths.
It's also very convenient for the Peak District and we stopped off in Ilam and Alton where there is a good, well stocked convenience store. There is also a little shop down the road in Waterhouses.
The site is a very short walk from the Yew Tree Inn. Due to Covid-19 this was closed during our stay but re-opens on 1st August. A must visit!
We usually try to stay at a different CL each time, but we will definitely be back to this one.

very pretty site
This is a very nice site, well cared for with good facilities. Entrance to the site is very tight if you have a twin axle van. I was charged more than was advertised when I booked and all though I wasn't charged for my dog I was informed that there would be a charge in the future. I really object to sites that keep adding on additional charges and I will not be returning.

A Caravan Site with Great Views and Services
Well my wife and I were looking for a site to stay at for the weekend where it was quiet and with nice views if possible. On looking on the Caravan Club Web Site we found Lower Moorend View Site - it looked just perfect for our weekend. I called direct and spoke with Natalia who was helpful with making the booking.
We obtained the direction to the site and set off. We only had a short journey to get to the site. The directions were very easy to follow - we found the entrance to the farm and site very easy. There is a Caravan and Motorhome Club sign at the entrance to the driveway.
As we drove up the drive to the farm we were greeted by Natalia who was coming out of the house, oh yes and the two dogs who were barking - saying that I think the springer spaniel was just barking for the fun of it - more chance of being licked to death than being bitten. They are both working dogs, so it understandable that they bark at strangers - we certainly were never worried about the dogs as they were always tied up.
Anyway, Natalia gave us a summary of the facilities and she did say to use any of the vacant pitches. Natalia said she would pop down later to see us. Natalia was most welcoming.
Well we then drove to the gate that gave access to the caravan pitches. To be honest all of the pitches had lovely views of the valley, so it did not really matter which one you picked. The gap between each pitch was really good, much bigger than most of the sites we have been to. Any awnings would need to be set up on the grass, so make sure you have a ground sheet if it is wet.
I was really impressed that there was a power and water point at the rear of you pitch. The point had a light which would help if you arrived during the hours of darkness.
The bins, waste water point and toilets were positioned at the bottom of the site on the left. The waste water and bins were on concrete which is good if the drowns was wet. The toilet block contained two toilets and a sink (with a towel). It was immaculately clean. There was information on the walls about the local area, which is a nice touch.
Natalia did come and see us shortly after we arrived and spoke to us for a good 15 minutes. Natalia stated there were no issues with putting up an awning if we wanted too. Although we had bought our awning we did not put it up.
In the evening we decided to walk to the Yew Tree Inn for a light refreshment (10 minutes walk). Wow what an amazing pub. This is well worth a visit if you are staying at the site or you are in the area. The sunset is really amazing, especially as you have great views of the valley.
In summary this is a lovely caravan site. It has very good facilities considering it is not a big site. It is ideally positioned for visiting this part of the Peak District and Alton Towers if you want some excitement - we will certainly visit again for the peace and quiet.
Disappointed
Although a lovely area and caravan parkarea clean, tidy and very nicely laid out we cant say it was very welcoming. The turn entering which people have written about was sharp and we had to reverse as nearly missed the site but did manage to turn. Once at the entrance, we were greeted by a couple on barking dogs, one on a chain, who alerted the lady of our arrival. Her greeting was ' go through the gate and take your pick'. No other information was given i.e. toilets, water, waste area etc.
The evening prior to setting off we telephoned the site as there had been heavy rain. The owners answer was 'we're on a hill so we don't flood', however what he failed to tell us was that the grass was exceptional water logged. We were on site for 3 nights during which time we could not use the awning and the carpets inside the caravan were becoming damp and stained. As on a hill ground drainage is obviously an issue.
The morning after our arrival we gathered more information from the male owner once we had asked. We asked about their dogs which had been rambling the caravan field earlier and we were concerned about our small dog. He told us one dog didn't like other dogs, this made us very uncomfortable as we had seen it jump the gate that morning. He said he would keep it chained up if he wasn't around. One of our first jobs was also to removed left dog muck near to the caravan. We don't feel this site should say suitable for dogs without warning its guests.
Sadly we wont be returning however site probably ideal for short says or motorhomes.
Lovely site
Stayed here at the weekend and loved it. Lovely views and lots of walking on your doorstep. CL immaculate as were the facilities. Owners friendly and helpful. Pub short walk away. We will be back !
Fantastic find!
The 'Why stay here....' details on the club site outlines better than I will ever express just why you should stay here! It's an extremely accurate over view of the site, its location and of things to do. It is a beautiful, small, quiet site situated brilliantly for local activities, amenities and attractions. Some fab pubs within walking distance that do food if you wish to eat out. I was greeted on arrival by Natalia who welcomed me and gave me an overview of the site and ensured I settled in comfortably. I later met Daniel who was also extremely welcoming and when I said i was looking to do walks in the area he gave me some good advice on places to go and things to do. The toilets were immaculately clean ( I was in a camper van, so also very welcome!). In all, this is a fab site, brilliant location and ran by a lovely family. Already looking to book to go back.
Lovely site!
A great little site that ticked all our boxes. Fantastic view, lots of footpaths to walk from the site, immaculate toilet facilities, friendly hosts and a wonderful quirky pub to walk to in 5 minutes. We will visit again soon. Karen and Andrew.
