A gem of a site

You know how if you discover something really good you don't want to tell anyone about it because you want to keep it for yourselves!!!! This is how we felt about this site. Lower Liston Farm is an absolute gem of a site. Graham greeted us and was very friendly, showed us to the pitch and which was spacious and the pitches were spaced out perfectly. The location was surrounded by fields. Yes there is a train line but they are infrequent and passed within seconds, we didn't even notice the trains. There were public footpaths from the site. Also we walked to the village of Semley which took about 30 mins down country lanes, the second day we cycled and it took no time at all, Semley has a pub, shop and cafe. I would say that this site is one of the best, if not the best, that we have stayed on. PS We stayed 22-25 April and the fact we had good weather was a bonus

What an amazing find! Small site with big facilities!

We have just returned from a four night stay at Lower Liston - 2 caravans and 1 motorhome - and we simply didn't want to leave! The site is beautifully kept and our pitches were fully serviced, with EHU, water and grey waste on each pitch. The shower block and toilets were open (with restricted access due to the Covid guidelines) but they were spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The rubbish bins were all clearly marked for each type of waste and there was a dishwashing area that included a washing machine and tumble dryer that could be paid for with tokens that you purchase at reception. And as for the chemical waste disposal............ I have never seen such an incredibly well appointed place to empty your toilet waste!! Fantastic! The owners (Graham & Andrea) were extremely helpful, very friendly and happy to provide all the information you needed, including a map of a lovely walk to the local pub!! This is without doubt the best CL site that we have ever used and we can't wait to go back - our thanks go to Graham & Andrea for making our short stay such a memorable one!! See you again soon.

Struggled to find decent walks nearby

Stayed at this site a few weeks ago. The site itself is clean and tidy and the toilet block, whilst rather dated, was clean and the showers nice and hot. They have sorted the Covid-19 logistics well enough. The site is adjacent to a railway line so you do get the trains whooshing by but that wasn't too much of a problem. The only problem we had was finding a decent dog walk. The trade-off for staying on a site that is really quiet is that inevitably it is in the middle of no-where. There are no walks direct from the site that take you anywhere - just into the next field. The local village is some 30 minute walk away and you have to walk in the road. Even the people who greeted us said that they had never successfully navigated the footpath to Shaftesbury. If you want a site that is just outside a village with things you can walk to (shop/pub etc) then this isn't the site for you. If you want to be able to disappear into local footpaths and trails straight from the site then this isn't for you If you want to chill in a well tended and clean site in the Dorset countryside then we would say this is a good choice. We hope this review from the perspective of a dog owner helps.

Response from the Club

Thank you for your review. The CL Owner has been in touch as they work really hard to ensure everyone has a wonderful time at their site. We are sorry that you feel the toilet block was dated. The toilet blocks are only seven years old and always kept well maintained and clean. If you visit again please note there are many wonderful walks in close proximity to the site and the CL owner has lots of information on nearby and local walks in the reception which guests of the site have access to. You can see from the previous 5 star reviews that members have enjoyed walks from the CL Site in the nearby fields. We hope this helps if you visit the site again in the future.

Wow! The best CL we've ever stayed at.

There are both hard standing and grass pitches. Most are full service with electric, water, grey waste and a communal TV aerial socket (really no need for that as our caravan aerial did the job just fine). And to cap it all decent WiFi throughout the site at no extra charge! Great pride is taken in the site with well cut and cared for grass areas. Excellent hard surfaces and everything is very neat and tidy. The site is 100s of yards away from the road so very quiet. As others have commented there is a train line a little way away but it really does not disturb. The train is only 3 carriages long so is gone in a flash. No light pollution so the night sky is very clear. Well thought out and implemented Covid-19 procedures for toilet and shower access which are immaculately clean. However, there is a downside for us - the site is adults only. Often we take our 5 year old grandson away with us and would love to come back here with him. This will limit how often we can have a long weekend at this newly discovered fabulous site.

Very Good Little Site

This is a very well set up and cared for site. Although it didn't bother us at, all you really need to think of it as a small camp site. There are 5 pitches a little separate from around 8 or 9 other pitches but the showers and toilet waste facilities are used by all pitches. Most pitches appear to be serviced so there is no problem with water. As other people have said, we were a little worried about the trains but they were not a problem. The walk to Shaftesbury is largely a nice 3 mile (according to the OS Maps app) route with some difficulties at the moment due to a new housing estate being built on part of the path. Overall a nice site.

Third Visit Even Better

On our third visit we thought we would know exactly what we would be getting. There are great views, and pitches and Graham sets out to make your stay the best it can. However, he has improved the service points to make the toilet facility safe from the Coronavirus, and made further improvements to the washing machine, and grey waste areas. Once again I recommend this site unreservedly.

Welcome Stay

We stayed in September and loved the setting, the owner was friendly and helpful, not a complaint but the ladies shower had a mind of its own when someone used the water in the Gents, it turned cold, but being an all service pitch we could use our van. There was something about the location we extended our stay for another 4 days. Yes a train does go by all of 2 seconds, and you dont hear it after a day or so. A very useful stopping point and relaxing stay over, we were happy to be with like minded caravaners and would definately go back. Andy Lynn Tofte (Rye the dog) who really loved the walks from the van

One night on way to Cornwall

I booked for one night stop over on my way to Cornwall - I had a van with my motorbike in the back and my caravan - needed an early start. Graham was very very helpful - placed me in yard so I didnt have to unhook may unit and plugged me in to electric in his shed. Walked round the Cl site very pretty and clean. Cycled in to Shaftesbury in the evening - and up Gold Hill - lovely little fish and chip shop there. Will definitely stay again - longer next time.

Lovely site

What a fantastic little site, arrived thursday 22nd august for 9 nights and was not disappointed, shower block lovely and clean separate showers for men and women. As for our 2 dogs they had an absolute ball, loads of fields to walk around safely. Graham and Andrea were both lovely, accommodating and friendly. Looking to book again for next year an absolute gem of a site. A big thank you to you both.

Fabulous site

This is a fabulously well maintained and secure site. The owners have thought of everything and all facilities and serviced pitches are exceptionally well kept. Don't be put off by the site's proximity to the railway line or the A350 - the site is peaceful. Thank you for a great stay.
