One of the best.

Great facilities, Quiet with great views. Just keep your dogs on a lead! Lots of sheep near by. Easy footpath access to the village of Kirkby in Furness. Good pubs and a shop in walking distance. Great base for exploring the lakes. Care needed if entering via Greenod/spark bridge. Some single track sections on road. But fine if taken with care. Basically don't proceed until you can see it's clear to the next passing place. Wagons use this route. Access via Askham easier. Wide gated access to site itself for large rigs. May return to this one!

Excellent and peaceful CL

This is a lovely CL with excellent, clean and warm facilities. It is in a peaceful position with lovely countryside views. The site is half a site and half a CL and so has about 12 pitches in total. In November we were the only people here.

Large CL ?

We used this site for sleeping as we like to tour around the areas. Clean site. Owned by Holker Hall Estates and managed by Peter & Tracey. It didnt look like a CL to me as there were more than 5 caravans etc staying. Some were workers. Sheep Barred/Bleated for over 2 days and nights. Wow,it was annoying. I don't know what was up with them but something disturbed them all. Maybe Field change? Don't turn left out of the site as you end up on a long, bumpy, cratered lane. It's quite deserted aswell. Otherwise a lovely area to visit.

How can this qualify as a CL...??

Although this is a lovely site I, like several others who have commented previously in their reviews, would like to know how this qualifies as a CL site. There are 12 pitches on two small enclosures and during our stay, every pitch was occupied. Several vans are permanently sited with workmen leaving for work at 6.30 each weekday morning; returning at night to enjoy drinking around their vans. The voltage on site is also very low and care must be taken if using too many appliances. The shower block is just adequate for the number on site.

Family holiday ruined!!

Great location and lovely views but sadly the owners let it down. Threatened to put a stake through my dogs head for going to the toilet on the land even though we had cleaned up. Told he sees dogs as vermin and cannot stand them on his land even though it's a dog friendly site. Shocking behaviour which ruined our family bank holiday weekend getaway as we feared for our dogs safety. Total nutcase which we didn't expect with young children with us. He defiantly needs anger management and I wouldn't recommend this site to anyone through fear of a confrontation!!  Half the site is shared with local workers drinking heavily using the vans during the weekdays!!

Lovely Peaceful Site

We arrived late afternoon and the site was nearly full. Having been told to pitch on any available hard standing we went into the furthest field not as nice a view but in the sun. The walks from the site are lovely and very quiet. We enjoyed the walk from the site through the fields and down to the estuary. The facilities were very clean except for one occasion when the toilet had been blocked but it was sorted the following morning. The farmer is very friendly and helpful. Hope to visit again very soon.

A lovely find, we will be back!

WOW! is the first thing I can say, the location of this site is beautiful, with wonderful views in all directions of the estuary, fields full of ewes and lambs and the hills behind. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The site is located on a working farm. An excellent CL, with a very clean and well-maintained toilet/shower block. Other reviews indicated that the block was only maintained to a satisfactory level - this was not the case during our visit, very clean at all times. They encourage re-cycling on the site and containers are clearly labelled. Even the toilet disposal point was clean and well maintained - which I cannot always say about CL sites! Pitches are generous in size and all received sun during our stay. The grass is kept short. The site is located easily for visits to Barrow and to the Lakes - without the Lake prices and busy nature of that area! We will definitely be back - not sure I should leave this review as we could find it hard to book a pitch in the future! Thank you Tracey for such a great welcome and for having such a great site.

Good site but not a CL

I would describe this as a small site ( 12 pitches ) but not a CL. It is divided into two small enclosures each with 6 pitches and all 12 pitches were occupied when we were there so how it is considered to be a CL is unclear. That aside, it is a site that is well worth visiting, set in quiet countryside overlooking the Duddon estuary with plenty of walks on public footpaths straight from the site. One path leads to Kirkby-in-Furmess ( only 15 minutes' walk ) where there is a small general store ( sells newspapers ), a post office and a pub. Other paths ( and quiet country lanes ) lead either up the fells ( quite a steep climb but well worth the views from the top ) or to and along the estuary. The shower/toilet block has two large rooms each with a shower, toilet and wash basin and another room with a toilet and wash basin - very good facilities for a site of this size and although the standard of maintenance was no more than satisfactory ( toilet rolls sometimes absent and some of the basins not always cleaned throughly ) it was generally good enough to recommend the site. The pitches were generously spaced in one of the enclosures ( pitches 1-6 ) although most of them were in shade for much of the day. The other enclosure ( pitches 7-12 ) was not so spacious but still perfectly satisfactory and this one did not have any shading. The grass in both enclosures was well maintained. The shower/toilet block is sited just within the enclosure for pitches 7-12 but still only a short walk from pitches 1-6. Previous reviews refer to problems arising from the low voltage on the site which made us worry that it might be a problem but we had no problems ourselves. Overall well worth visiting.

A gem of a site

This is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed at Low Hall. Just a great site with excellent facilities. Fantastic views across the Duddon Estuary and Kirkby Moor. The owners just let you get on with your stay as they have a working farm to look after, but are close by if needed.
