We spent 3 nights here and found the site to be very spacious and peaceful with nice views. We did not meet the owner as she was away but found her to always be contactable and helpful if needed. The village itself is very pretty and unspoilt with a great pub on the doorstep serving good beer, wine and food. Some wonderful villages close by either for visiting or on a walk. The turn into the site just next to the school was a little awkward but nothing major, if you miss it though you may have problems. Would like to come back and spend longer.
We stayed here with a large caravan at the end of May 2017 ( Bank holiday) So peaceful, lovely views and great walks . Miranda is a lovely lady and the CL is very well run. If you like peace and quiet, great views, good walking area and lots of chocolate box villages to explore then this is the CL for you, will certainly visit again.
Although the owner wasn't present during our stay she was very helpful and responded to texts and phone messages. It is a really peaceful site with nice countryside views. We have a motorhome and would really question whether this is a suitable site unless you come armed with a significant amount of different sized levelling gear. It was for this reason alone that we only stayed one night and acknowledge that the description says 'sloping' and it is a field not a lawned area so you could say that we were advised. Nevertheless it is a lovely place and if we had a caravan we would return.
Just wish to endorse the other reviews of this 1st class CL - a quiet, relaxed site with plenty of space, a splendid view and nicely located for touring the northern and eastern area of this lovely part of the country.
(Personal suggestion - if you are coming up from Cirencester on the A429, ignore the fist left turn to Cold Aston and as you near Bourton-on -the-Water take the next left onto the A436 then next left toward Cold Aston.)
For us, the location of this CL is perfect. Plenty of walking straight from the site and a pub within staggering distance. If you're happy to use your own on board facilities then the peace of this site beats the hustle and bustle of the club sites (Moreton and Broadway) hands down. Pitch anywhere in the large, slightly sloping field. Hook ups are in the middle - you may need an extra length if you want to be tucked right away. Chemical disposal and recycling at the farmhouse. Fresh eggs available every morning. Entrance is a little tight if turning right off the village lane - the left turn is significantly easier. At £10 night it wins hands down. Thanks for a great stay.
Lovely quiet CL. Very friendly welcome, we could pitch anywhere we liked and plenty of room on the sloping and therefore well-draining field. Horses and chickens on the farm. Situated in a lovely village with a friendly pub just down the road. We will return.
I'll not ramble on as the other reviewers have really covered all the wonderful aspects of this beautiful, peaceful CL.
For us, this site is superb! We don't crave shower blocks or toilets - we have them on board and we use them!
If, like us, you want peace, tranquility, lovely views and easy access to the surrounding Cotswold area, then this is the CL for you - enjoy!
On our way home from a couple of wonderful weeks down in Dorset we decided to split the journey and stay near Bourton on Water at the Longbrook Barn CL site and we just loved this CL. It is in a beautiful quiet setting, no frills on a gently sloping field with lovely views. It suited us down to the ground, Miranda the owner was very helpful and there is no worry about where or how you pitch, all very refreshing. It's only a short drive to Bourton which is a must for a visit, we did the river walk from Lower Slaughter to Upper Slaughter it's not a long walk but visits, in my opinion 2 of the most beautiful villages in England. Lots to do and see in the local area. The Plough Inn is only a 5 min walk from the site and is very welcoming with great food and local ales, just perfect! If visiting this site it is best approached from the Cheltenham side, especially if you have a sizeable unit, as stated in the directions, there was a large twin axle van on the site with us and he had got in no problem getting in. All in all it is now our number one site when visiting the Cotswolds. But keep it quiet! It can be our secret.......
We were looking for somewhere in the Cotswolds that would be near to our route home from the south but within easy reach of where we wanted to revisit. We weren't wrong and found a gem of a site. Spacious enough to allow everyone the great views. The local pub serves tasty meals but pricey. Local walks for dogs. Bourton on the Water is about ten minutes drive away, and that's where the nearest grocery and paper shop is. We hope to return later in the year.
For those that like a peaceful but basic CL this is one for you. Situated in the centre of a typical Cotswold village, the entrance is directly opposite of a small but prominent 30mph sign and down the side of the village's Primary School. There are EHUs but no hardstanding pitches in a large field that overlooks the owners horse paddocks. The village pub is a 5 min walk for the site, and the nearest supermarkets are the Co-op at Bourton and Tesco at Stow, 4 and 7 mls away respectively. TV, phone and wifi reception are all good. There are a number of footpaths radiating from the village, and for those who enjoy off-road cycling there are a network of bridle paths and bye-ways in the area. We will certainly return to this grand site.
