Quiet Site in Southern Yorkshire Dales
The site is small and well laid out. As noted in other reviews there is some occasional noise from the nearby railway line but we did not find this too intrusive. Likewise the adjacent lane and road (A65) within 200 metres of the site. Again we did not find this a significant issue but appreciate this may not be the case for everyone.
Access to either Skipton or Settle can be by bus which runs every hour (every two hours on Saturdays) otherwise access to these and other locations of interest is by car.
The site has very poor to none-existent TV signal and this has been rectified by the owner by the provision of a High Gain TV aerial with outlets behind and below each power point. Extra long coaxial leads are supplied and are kept in the round bin beside the waste and recycling wheelie bins.
There is a small but reasonable Coop store in Gargrave the village between Hellifield and Skipton but if you want a larger supermarket then there is a Tesco's and Morrisons in Skipton.
The walk along the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Gargrave to Skipton or Gargrave to Newton Bank is easy. For walks further afield the Malham and Goredale Scar are worth a look.
The site owner was very pleasant no rudeness as suggested by one reviewer. This is a site to which we will return and if asked would we recommend it the answer is a resounding YES.
This is everything a CL site should be.
It is worth noting that we were there during a period of exceptionally heavy rain, The site did not get flooded there was no standing water anywhere on the site and the motorhome which pitched up for a couple of nights had no problems in driving of what should have been a very wet field.
