As others have said this is a level, well draining, easy access site with short grass. In two directions there are good views. We had several e-mails and telephone conversations with Peter before arrival and he was always helpful and pleasant but we only saw him once in the first week when he called to collect his money and check everything was ok. That may have been because some of the time there was no one else on site. We had an excellent Sunday lunch at the Black Horse in Hellifield.
Two minutes from the site in the car is the railway station where the steam engine connects up with the carriages to do the Settle/Carlisle railway and doing another route the train actually passes the Cl. Ideal if you are a steam enthusiast. If you are noise intolerant be aware there is some road noise from the A65 and the little road that runs behind the site, however we soon got used to it.
Great little CL

Lovely C L near Hellifield N Yorks
Lovely flat CL on outskirts of Hellifield village. Walking distance to village for shop, pub, butchers, tea room & fish & chip shop. £15 per night - 16 amp . some train noise (if your not into them). Consider trip settle to carlisle line Friendly owners.
What a Cracker
Level field with, sloping driveway up to entrance. Access to and from site is in a straight line.
Usual road noise at busy times is minimal. Train approx. once an hour is a local two carriage, again noise minimal. Owner has put up a special arial, with leads in a metal bin, points on all EHU. So TV reception good.
Although all grass the drainage is nothing short of a miracle. We spent two nights on the wettest weekend and yes the grass was wet, but firm. As the site is so level and entrance downhill leaving was no problem. Views in good weather will be great. Plenty of grass, and no dogs, so bring the kids and let them play. Plenty of small local villages to explore. Local village with shop pub etc., about 250yds away. Very friendly locals, they opened gates on both occasions when towing caravan. Old Swan in nearby Gargrave very nice food at reasonable price. All in all highly recommended,
Quiet Site in Southern Yorkshire Dales
The site is small and well laid out. As noted in other reviews there is some occasional noise from the nearby railway line but we did not find this too intrusive. Likewise the adjacent lane and road (A65) within 200 metres of the site. Again we did not find this a significant issue but appreciate this may not be the case for everyone.
Access to either Skipton or Settle can be by bus which runs every hour (every two hours on Saturdays) otherwise access to these and other locations of interest is by car.
The site has very poor to none-existent TV signal and this has been rectified by the owner by the provision of a High Gain TV aerial with outlets behind and below each power point. Extra long coaxial leads are supplied and are kept in the round bin beside the waste and recycling wheelie bins.
There is a small but reasonable Coop store in Gargrave the village between Hellifield and Skipton but if you want a larger supermarket then there is a Tesco's and Morrisons in Skipton.
The walk along the Leeds Liverpool Canal from Gargrave to Skipton or Gargrave to Newton Bank is easy. For walks further afield the Malham and Goredale Scar are worth a look.
The site owner was very pleasant no rudeness as suggested by one reviewer. This is a site to which we will return and if asked would we recommend it the answer is a resounding YES.
This is everything a CL site should be.
It is worth noting that we were there during a period of exceptionally heavy rain, The site did not get flooded there was no standing water anywhere on the site and the motorhome which pitched up for a couple of nights had no problems in driving of what should have been a very wet field.
Perfect for a quiet break, with steam trains as added bonus
Beautifully kept field, with a good amount of space between each of the hook-up points. Small lane running past the field on the one side, with occasional cars, tractors and cyclists! Little by way of facilities (so my other half now has placed different specifications on what facilities we do look for!!!!!), but if you don't want or need much, then this is ideal Owners son strolled up to see us on the first night, and even helped tweak the awning....the family are caravanners, which helps! He also took payment, which was ideal! Think the best spot is the one in the top corner (keep driving straight on when entering the field), but that was already taken when we arrived....very high winds and lashing rain whilst we were there, and the space nearest the gate quite exposed. Lovely views, and great proximity to Skipton, Settle and the North York Moors. Oh, and the odd steam train going past the field, which has to be a bonus!!!!!! We spent a whole morning at Hellifield Station watching steam train manoeuvres!!!!
Very pleasant CL
This is a very pleasant CL. It just provides the essentials you need for a peaceful stay. Electric hookups - water point (sometimes a bit slow) - good toilet disposal facilities - level and well drained field - and good views. There is a gated access from the small road. Just 5 mins walk to buses to Skipton or to Settle and beyond. Hourly service. TV reception fine, but we used a satellite rig as well. Owner calls for a chat and payment, so no pressure. We watched some lovely sunsets when we stayed for a week in early April. Would definitely use this CL again.
Nice site in a great location
A well-kept site - all grass which was interesting on the wettest weekend of the year so far, but no problems getting off. It has a tap, bins, chemical disposal and a night light. Good views and sheltered to the rear by a high, walled, bank. Peaceful except for an occasional farm truck and passing train, and of course lots of birdsong! Rabbits and cyclists can also be spotted.
The location is great. As well as the obvious countryside attractions, the train station is just a 15 min walk away, and from there you can catch a train on the Settle/Carlisle line, or over to Morecombe, and of course Gargrave/Skipton/Leeds.
Hellifield has a pub, coffee shop, and well-stocked grocers with cashpoint. The station has an interesting cafe too - lots of railway memorabilia and very clean and bright.
Lovely owners completed my happy experience here.
Lovely Site
Stayed here in April 16, and thought I had left a review but I hadn't so when I read the last review I had to put my two penneth in. We were the only ones on the site, parked with the back of the caravan to the road that runs behind. There were a few goods vehicles going past, but nothing to worry about, nor did any drivers appear to be staring in. The actual main road is well away with a field of sheep in between and did not affect us at all. We had heavy snow and rain and the site was unaffected by it as it has excellent draining. Handy for Skipton, Settle and Malham.
We drove over a 100 miles to the site and it was that bad we'll be going again in October/ November

Not as described
The site is well maintained with lovely views. The big downside is the proximity of two roads, one minor where tall vehicle drivers look over the wall directly into the van, the other is the main road, the A65 and on a steep hill with lots of attendant noise.
