Just one night on a tour of the south-west. The CL is beautifully kept with lovely lush grass and manicured hedges. We parked happily in our marked space and shortly afterwards had a warm welcome from the owner. The availability of a shower (50p coins required for 2.5 mins) and two very clean loos is a bonus. Good EHU and water connections for each pitch. For keen walkers, the spectacular circular route through Branscombe to Beer and back is about 10.1 miles and five hours, allowing for stops.
Very happy with this CL. Recommended.
Stayed here for 2 nights. The access lane is not too bad (check on Google Earth before you arrive), but access to the field where the pitches are is very narrow because of the conifer hedges. The wing mirrors on my motorhome were gently flattened as we entered the field, but the hedges do make it more private. Pitches are all in a row, which is not a problem, and the owner marks each one for the occupant before arrival, which gives it a personal feel. The toilet was always clean and well stocked. Although I did not need it, there was a washing machine available. We cycled to Branscombe, but the trip back was hard. There is a bus stop on the main road, but it is 100 yards along the road outside another commercial caravan site, and there is no footpath.
We stayed on this site for 3 nights early August. Generous level pitches well supplies with water/ EHUs. Lovely quiet location ideal for Sidmouth, Seaton and the SW Coastal path.
The shower and WC facilities are also good. The host (I think a member owner) was both welcoming and helpful.
There is a bus service within 500m and a good pub at a mile
Whilst the access road is a little narrow and twisty the total distance that has to be travelled is only a few hundred metres.
We stayed here for three nights in early February. Easy to find with good initial access from lane, but turn in your wing mirrors as the hedges are close! Nice flat pitches and well spaced apart. We were the only van on the CL so had the hardstanding pitch, which had water and EHU very close. Quiet and peaceful this CL is located in a lovely part of the country. 15 minute walk (down hill) to a pub with a roaring real fire, excellent food and good variety of ales. It was a longer walk back to the site!
Cost was £20 per night, but with shower being an extra 50p. Facilities were dated, but functional and clean and certainly adequate for us.
This is a very peaceful site. We loved watching the horses, which are right next to the pitches. We had a very nice welcome from the friendly owner and our pitch had our name on. We had a tap on the pitch, which was very handy.
The downsides of this site were a very long walk to empty the toilet cassette and nowhere to walk the dog. You can go off site but it’s just a narrow lane to walk on, so it meant getting into the car every time the dog needed a walk. Sadly another couple allowed their three dogs to use the site for a walk.
We thought £18 per night was reasonable with shower, toilet and laundry facilities. However, I didn’t use any of these as they are in dire need of an update. Plus the sink for dishes was in the same space as the toilet, so the sink was for hand washing and dishes and there was no hot water provided. I think it’s great that CLs are providing these facilities but if they do, they need to be decent, otherwise why bother?
A nice relaxing stay at this CL. The owners are lovely and helpful. Well organised with our name on a post when we arrived. Handy for exploring the local area. Donkey sanctuary was amazing with the nicest cafe/restaurant, and lots of donkeys. Site very well kept, clean shower room and separate toilet at the back of the house, plus a washing machine too. Would recommend.
A great location with easy access to the stunning coastal path to Beer, Sidmouth etc. Branscombe is within a mile or two - take the road at the side of the airfield down to Branscombe rather than the main road, where you will be jumping into the bushes every few minutes. Very basic, dated facilities - 50p for a 5 minute tepid shower in a grotty, damp-smelling room, so not good value in comparison with other sites, which have clean & efficient facilities.
Thoroughly enjoyed our 6 night stay.
The site is very well kept and tidy.
All facilities are perfectly adequate - toilets and showers clean.
Nice, level site benefitting from a reasonable amount of shelter from the hedge surounding the field.
Horses are kept in the two facing paddocks about 25yds from the pitches.
Access onto site is a bit tight and from a narrow lane. Not a problem for our small van.
Caroline, the owner, was welcoming.
Certainly one of the nicer sites we have used.
Good shower and decent toilet facilities for a CL site. The field also has an area in front of it with horses which creates a nice rural feel to the place. Great location for exploring places within this area. Lovely owner :) Will return
