Excellent CL

Just spent 3 nights on this quiet excellent CL. Set in wooded glade you wouldn't know it was there. Owners very friendly & welcoming, I was directed onto hardstanding & informed about all amenities. Site ideal for Bradgate Park, plenty of walks, just ask owners they are full of useful information about the local area. I will return. P.S. Dog enjoyed it as well, although a little tired at the end of each day.

Great site but spoilt by small deyails

Only stayed one night as no satellite access due to very tall trees.  Access was very tight as we have a large van.  It would have helped if we had been told to arrive from Ansty!  The hard standing pitches are also more suited to the smaller vans due to their location.  The owners were helpful in getting us onto a pitch but it was not ideal and they are obviously concerned about their grassed areas being driven over.  Having said all this, we were disappointed that having got onto a pitch we had to leave due to a lack of satellite signal.  The site is very picturesque and quiet.  One other source of discontent wad the provision of only 10amps at the ehu.  The owner said she would have to substantially increase the prices to provide the more normal 16 amps.  We will not be returning but if you have a medium sized can, and can cope with no satellite and 10 amps, this is an excellent site

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review. The CL owner has contacted us as she wanted to clear up some of the issues raised. She does remember speaking to you on the phone prior to your stay and advising you that her site wasn’t suitable for the size of your outfit, being a fifth wheel, but as you assured her that you would drive very carefully she was happy to welcome you to the site and help with pitching. Because of the weight of your vehicle, which was in excess of 6.5 tons and over 11 metres long, she did need to be conscious of you driving on the grass to ensure no damage was done. The best direction to approach the CL is printed in the handbook and also published on the website too. As you had a fixed satellite dish it would have made it difficult to find a signal on the site unless you were able to move on a tripod. 10 amps is normally adequate for guests and the CL owner hasn’t had any complaints in the past but she is sorry this affected your enjoyment of your stay. Please be assured she wanted to do her utmost to help so when you decided to leave she suggested another site nearby that was more suitable for a fifth wheel and showed you on the map the best route to get there. I hope this helps and thanks again for taking the time to write a review.

FANTASTIC FIND!

Just returned from a lovely quiet Easter break at this CL. It was recommended to us and what a recommendation. We were met by the owners who helped us pitch our caravan. Both extremely helpful, welcoming and full of useful information about the site and surrounding area. The site is amongst trees and you can watch the wildlife from your caravan window - Robins, Jays, Blackbirds, Thrushes, Great Tits, Tree Creepers, Greater Spotted Woodpecker to name just a few. It is very sheltered, quiet, relaxing with plenty of space between each of the pitches. TV reception was quite good and the loudest noise we heard during our stay was the dawn chorus. The site is easy to find about 3 miles from J22 off the M1. Bradgate Park is about a mile from the site and is a great place to walk, cycle and see the Deer. There is also an enjoyable walk from the site which takes you through fields, past trees, along a stream and is well signposted by green posts with yellow arrows. We will certainly be heading off to this site again to enjoy the quiet and to explore the area more.  Wish we could of stayed longer! :)

Great access to Bradgate Park & surroundings

We have just returned from a 5 night mid-week stay at Leicester Hill Wood. All the other reviews are spot on in their enthusiasm for this CL – the loudest noise all week was the bird song! There are three hardstandings available to ensure that the site can remain open all year – all three being well away from each other for maximum seclusion. The site is sloping but the hardtandings are reasonably level. There are three water points but the one at the bottom of the site is probably more accessible to motorhomes than the other two. Hooks ups are available to all pitches although the owners have put in extension leads to lessen the need for long cables. There is a single WC, recycling area & CDP point just inside the owners property. Remember to bring a bird feeder as ours was a great success with visits from the amusing “upside down” nuthatches, blue & great tits, a trio of jays, a solitary greater spotted woodpecker, a pair of magpies, the occasional robin & chaffinch. We also had an occasional visit of a cheeky squirrel & pheasant, both of which excited Louie [our dog] immensely! We knew that TV reception was going to be dodgy, so we weren’t surprised when we had no signal at all! It was a good job that we had a good stock of DVD films with us. The village of Newtown Linford was about a mile away and has two pubs [The Linford & The Bradgate] as well as a well stocked village store [daily newspapers are available] and numerous tea rooms. The main access into the 800 acre Bradgate Park is in the village itself although there are two other entry points at opposite corners. The main tarmac path through the park is great for cycling but can be busy although there are plenty of other walking routes throughout the park where you will only have the deer for company. There is also a country park at Beacon Hill which is about 3 miles away and the back roads were fine for biking with a dog loping alongside. He loved it & wasn’t even out of breath after 11 miles! Needless to say, we were! Overall a super CL that is set in a forested glade and we would thoroughly recommend it.

A Rough Diamond.

A favorite adjective used to describe an excellent CL is usually “a gem”. Well I am not going to describe this CL as such but instead I would say that this CL is a rough diamond. Now don’t get me wrong this does not mean that is a rough old place which needs some polishing far from it. This CL is a perfect rural CL with basic amenities that ticks every box. The grass isn’t bowling green standard, the toilet isn’t heated, the site is sloping and the hard standings are basic but adequate. We sited our van on the bottom hard standing as the grass pitches were not being used due to the recent heavy rain. Set amongst the trees we were nicely tucked away and we felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere. It was absolute bliss staying here peace and quiet in abundance although if the wind is in the wrong direction you can hear the distant rumble of the M1. We had no TV reception but outside our window we watched Nuthatches, Blue Tits, Great Tits, Wrens, Robins, Long Tailed Tits, squirrels and Muntjac deer, it was like being in spring watch! As for the area itself there is nothing more say other than “superb a walkers paradise”. We will certainly be back to this hidden rough diamond.

Welcoming

A lovely sheltered site, away from the hustle and bustle and yet close to the M1. The owners are extremely helpful and welcoming. 3 hard-standings so ideal for a winter break.

Just off the M1

A lovely rural retreat and only 10mins from j22 M1! Fantastic location for walks and cycling in Bradgate Park which has stunning views from the top of the Folly - 700 feet above sea level.  Owners very helpful and pitches well spaced.

A great cl in a sun trapped wooded glade. Mostly sloping, but this is of no consequence as there are dozens of Beech blocks specially for levelling, in addition the owners have positioned concrete slabs in line with the van wheels, so the van is levelled left to right, all you have to do is level front and back, "Simples". Take a fat ball hanger and watch Nuthatch, Coal Tits, Great and Blue Tits and Robins feeding in front of your van or watch the Squirrel scamper across the site. In the evening listen to the Tawny Owls. The EH are well positioned as are the water taps. If you like walking you are spoit for choice. A great site that having found it we will visit regularly.

Gem of a Site

What a gem of a site! If you like a quite site (only 5 pitches) for adults only with great access the Leicestershire countryside this is the site for you. The locality to Bradgate Park was brilliant, with local footpaths on the doorstep so no excuse to not get out and enjoy the local area. With lovely site owners that advised on local walks and helped with blocks for the caravan we couldn't of chosen better!!! We will definitely be returning as the dog loved it as much as we did. Cracking site!!!

Away from it all weekend

Beautifully maintained site, wooded area, (need blocks on some areas). Peaceful, tranquil setting, owners very helpful, need extra extension lead to most areas. Dogs made welcome. Toilet on site. If you rate your TV viewing we were not able to get any reception, but ha ho a good book who cares in such a beautiful setting.
