October 2016

We recently enjoyed 6 nights at this site last month. The gated entrance is a bit tight but the CL opens up beyond, the entrance has CCTV and a PIR light after dark which is handy. There are a number of hard standings to choose from which again was useful later in the year with soft ground, the grass pitches available have level slabs on which you can position your van wheels. This is a long established CL in a clearing with friendly and helpful owners, they have built a small service block with a toilet, washing up station and chemical toilet emptying. Wi-Fi available but only really near the block, TV reception was good using a high gain aerial. Locally there is good walking around Bradgate Park & Beacon Hill country park and a shopping centre/petrol station just over the A46 bypass at Beaumont Leas. One of the main reasons for using the site was to visit both Bosworth Battle field , the Richard III visitor centre and tomb in Leicester which were all excellent. We will certainly use this leafy and peaceful site again.

Enchanting woodland

We have not long returned from here after a 4 night stay and had a lovely restful break. The setting for the CL is beautiful as others have said. The track going on to the site was only big enough for one outfit at a time so campers should be mindful of arrival and departure times. The owner was friendly and welcomed us on arrival and made sure we knew where everything was The site was well laid out and although we almost had the place to ourselves, there would have been plenty of space between vans if full. We went with one small dog who really enjoyed squirrel watching with some constant action going on. We had some nice walks straight from the site. We did have some TV signal with a normal aerial and could watch about 3 channels if we wanted to. Nearby Newton Linford is a nice village, within walking distance, with a dog friendly post office cafe and shop. There are lots of pubs fairly close by (by car) which serve food. There are a few in Newton Linford but I wouldn’t want to walk there at night. We tried ‘The Wheatsheaf’ in Woodhouse Eaves which served good pub grub. Overall a lovely site in a good location. We would return.

An Oasis of Calm

Have stayed here on numerous occasions and have not had any issues . Rob and June are friendly and welcoming and the wildlife around the site is calming and a joy for a city dweller. I'll be back .

A week in a wooded oasis

This site is all that has been said before. Peaceful and idyllic for those who are looking for a break from the rush of the world around us. We were met by the owners who directed us onto our pitch. (Grass with two wheel pavers). Only needed to set level front/rear and used the tree trunk blocks provided for one steady and the jockey wheel. Needed a satellite dish to get the TV reception required. Pease note though that if you visit make sure that you arrive from the village of Newtown Linford as the Camping Club CL sign is set up on a tree facing you. If you come in from the other direction you would possibly miss the entrance all together and reversing on this narrow twisting road could be dangerous to you and other road users. Intend to go again earlier in the year when the wildlife may be a little more active - that was our only disappointment.

Secluded

Apologies for late review - stayed 4 nights from 23rd May 2016. Pleasant, secluded & well arranged site, close to Bradgate Park and Stoneywell House (NT). Owners very welcoming on arrival. Good road cycling country lanes and access nearby for MTB trails in Swithland Woods. Recommended.

A WEEKEND IN NOVEMBER 2015

A lovely site in a wooded setting. Hardstandings allow all round use, with friendly owners who keep the CL neat and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending this CL to other club members.

Lovely stay

Only stayed one night to break up a long journey but can't speak too highly of this place. Delightful tranquil sight and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Close to the big city of Leicester if you wish or within minutes of Bradgate Country Deer Park for peace and stunning scenery.  We will definitely be back. Thank you.

OUT OF THE TOP DRAWER

This is one of the best CLs we've stayed on. It's thoughtfully laid out, in a beautiful and peaceful setting and the owners were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended - especially if you're thinking of nipping into Leicester (good transport links from nearby) to see Richard III's resting place in the Cathedral. Give it a whirl!

Lovely Sylvan setting

A tranquil woodland setting for this site. Pitches set out amongst the trees, with slabs set into the ground so you can just drive on to them and your van is level side-to-side. Complete hard standings available too if required. Site owners pleasant, helpful and unobtrusive. Don't expect views from the site - all you can see is the woods - no houses, roads, fields, and the occasional hen. Facilities nice, clean and functional. A lovely, peaceful site - just what we like. Traffic noise can be heard at times, but probably that's because we're not used to hearing it at home, a town dweller wouldn't notice it. Well recommended.

Wonderful Wood

What a lovely gem of a site.  We received a friendly warm welcome from Rob & June and helped to pitch as required by the owners. The site is in a really quiet and peaceful location with excellent public footpaths, if you enjoy walking.  Also an excellent site and location for cycling. The entrance is tight but we have a fairly large outfit but had no difficulties getting in and out. We will definitely be going again - look forward to seeing you again soon.
