Thame

Just spent a few nights here not the best CL I have been to in my 40 years motorhoming/caravanning the only good thing is it near Thame if you want to visit there. Not advertised on their website is you have to leave by 11.00 on departure day and they have 7 units not the usual licensed 5 as at all the CLs I have ever stayed on. Didn’t feel relaxed or happy on this busy site which is the whole purpose of caravanning. Will not be returning

Close to Thame

Easy to find and secure site with key fob entrance. Nicely mown field. Closed facilities but no explanation why as COVID restrictions are finished. Great location with easy 10 min walk into Thame with plenty of shops bars cafes etc and a large Waitrose also within walking distance. The cost of being so close to town is the very noisey road which never stops. Yes the church bells chime every hour but no big deal. The downside for us was first impressions. Old farm machinery, broken washing machine, wooden pallets and abandoned canoes seem to just be left in odd places. Shame it brought an unloved feeling to the site. Plus side is location to town but bring your earplugs!

An Excellent Find

Without doubt this is the best CL we have ever stayed on. Good access, a vast well kept site, with plenty of space between each pitch and pleasant and helpful owners. A quiet country feel yet only a short walk to the centre of Thame andbus stops for Oxford and Aylesbury only yards from the site gate. I cannot rate this site highly enough. Thank you for making us feel so welcome John, we will be back!

Lovely overnight stay

We stayed at this CL for one night only on our way to and from the ferry port to France. The site is close to the M40 so very convenient and about half way for us. Access was easy and the owner was welcoming. The pitches are large, flat and have water and electricity. We had a quiet peaceful night and were woken at 7am by the next door church bells. No alarm clock required. It’s a short walk into the lovely town of Thame where everyone is very friendly and we had a nice evening meal and shopped at Waitrose. For us it was great for one night but we do not have a shower in our caravan, so the fact that the on site shower was closed means we could not consider a longer stay. We did not access places of local interest apart from the town so can’t really comment on that.

Lovely clean well maintained Cl

This cl is well maintained and peaceful - always a warm welcome from John & his wife Allison. Perfect for walking or cycling in the area - plenty of nearby shops Waitrose co-op and sainsburys as well as good local butchers and other shops - a great variety of pubs and restaurants - beautiful town with good local history - the red kites paid us a few visits - although the site is now metered for electricity as didn’t use anything like the 10 that was allocated to us daily. We were in a group of five motorhomes and John arranged for the local mobile fish and chip van to call to the site - they were lovely but be warned the portions of chips are quite big but the birds finished them off the next morning - I would certainly recommend this site for the friendliness and location

Great find.

A great find and so close to all town ameneties, John the owner is very welcoming and friendly. lovely clean and peaceful and just by the river. a beautiful church is just behind and although the bells rang out every hour it did not disturb us. There are a selection of walks to do around the town and by the river and old railway all around 2 to 3 miles with some interesting buildings to see. easy to walk into town for meals or takeaways or the supermarket. The highlight for us was finding the the Bee Gee ROBIN GIBB IS BURIED in the grave yard in the church so we enjoyed visiting the grave and paying homage. All in all we had a lovely 4 days and will definatly be back. Mel and Mary Poulson

Thame...in the heart of England

John and Allie, the owners, are most welcoming and this CL is flat, well drained, exceptionally well maintained, 5 minutes easy walk in to the town centre, borders the River Thame, and is such a find that on the one hand I want everyone to know about it, but on the other wanted to keep it such a secret that no one would book it ahead of me! Dog friendly. Mains hookup and water to each of the 5 pitches. Excellent walking and cycling country. Thame boasts some good eateries, too. We will return. 5 stars on all counts.

On the edge of Thame

Just returned from another 12 nights in this glorious location. An easy approach and a warm welcome from John, meant we were soon setup on our fully serviced pitch. Once through the electric gates, a new view opens up of a well kept grass area, the river at the back, free roaming chickens and bird song. It is a short walk into town and to either Waitrose or Sainsburys, and a good selection of shops, many being independent. We had a lovely meal in The Coffee House (near town hall), and there are a good selection of walks around the area, with maps available at the information point on the CL. Our visit coincided with the 10th anniversary of the death of Robin Gibb, who lived in the town and is buried in the local churchyard, and to mark the event the local museum and Robins wife Dwina have setup a display of some of his personal items, including bikes, awards and clothing, and lots of family photos. It is free admission and well worth a visit, and the museum staff are very welcoming and friendly. Out and about there are some lovely places to visit, Brill Windmill, Aylesbury, Haddenham Church and duck pond, and the Oxford P&R was fairly easy to use. (Don't use the obvious parking payment machines, but use the one machine near where you catch the bus from) which was £6.80 for parking and return bus to city centre (about 20 minute journey). This was our 2nd visit to this CL and certainly won't be our last.
