Good site to visit St.Andrews

Easy to find but take care not to proceed down farm track when you turn in off the road. Pitches are spacious and all have good views across the valley. A basic but well maintained CL. It gives easy access to St.Andrews and is a good base to explore the Fife coast and countryside.

Good site for St. Andrews

We've just had a couple of nights here. Access is straightforward - as soon as you leave the road turn left, do not go down the farm track. There are a handful of pitches, all overlooking the Eden estuary and RAF Leuchars. The pitches are grass, but each has two sets of paving slabs, and if you sit your caravan on those, it will be mostly level Due to the pitches being between the track and the views you'll want to unhitch and get the caravan in "forwards". Facilities are basic; a single water tap, grey waste goes down the house drain, and toilet waste into a tank in the field. No recycling facilities. But all that you need from a CL. Some road noise. Very good 4G signal on EE, Good Morrisons and M&S Food Hall in St Andrews, and good dog walking and free parking at West Sands. Excellent, but very expensive farm shop (Balgove Larder) just outside St Andrews. Falkland Palace is worth a visit if you're an NTS/NT menber, but not worth ÂŁ17 if you're not a member. Overall, a good site with excellent views, and worth the money.

A lovely CL

We stayed 4 nights beginning of September using it as a base to visit the many beautiful places around Fife and up the east coast tourist trail towards Stonehaven. The site is immaculately kept and very peaceful, the views (for all pitches) down towards the sea and overlooking Luechars Station are outstanding, the sunrises in particular were fabulous. This was our second visit and we’ll definitely return.

Excellent site

Great site for visiting St Andrews. Bus stop 10 mins walk away. Pub with evening meals 10 mins walk away. Grass pitch on slight slope, so slippy to get off after rain. Would recommend

Ticked all the boxes….

Used this cl as visiting family in Strathkinness. Easy to find and very friendly lady owner. Wish we had mover to enjoy the views from the van window as stunning location, perfect stroll along the road to the tavern for an excellent beer and food. Only a short drive to St Andrews. Visited couple of local farm shops and a great makers market at Bowhouse. This will definitely be a regular site for us going forward.

Not a pitch and putt

Lovely views over the Royal and Ancient in the distance. The pitches are slightly sloping on grass but have slabs for the wheels so if you want to appreciate the views from your front window a mover is essential. Approach from Strathkinness and enter the gateway slowly and go immediately left into the garden and not down the farm track (the site is the owners front lawn!) I made the mistake of starting to go down the track and realising my mistake having to reverse out onto the main road.

Nice site but tight for space

We enjoyed the site, and stayed for four nights it has lovely views but access is a bit confusing and space for turning etc is very tight. My advice is to approach from the Strathkiness direction rather than from Cupar as the turn-in is tight. There are also three road options as you enter the site so take the left hand fork and go behind the house for access. There is a Caravan & Camping Club Site site which also clouds the issue! We had the site to ourselves so the tightness didn't matter much although a mover for a caravan is a must. The 10a electrics are a little limiting. St Andrews is only three miles away so this is a great site for the town and surrounding area of the East Neuk. There's a busy farm track just behind the site and dog walking can be a bit dangerous from this traffic. Overall a good little site.

Stunning location

We booked this site for the weekend of a swimming gala in Dundee for the Scottish Down Syndrome championships. We arrived on the Friday evening and Mrs Wade showed us the only available pitch and where all the facilities were and told us about the local area and asked what we were planning to do. The site is in a stunning location with views to die for We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be using this site again. The owner was very welcoming and took a genuine interest in all her guests. She made a point of seeing us on Saturday evening to ask how our son had got on. ( he won 2 silver medals) and to return to this location rather than a drap chain hotel was much the better option. One word of advice is if you have a large caravan unless you are incredibly strong a mover is a must to position your caravan to make the most of the views.

Just what we wanted

We have a motorhome and wanted a CL that was close to St Andrews and this fit the bill. It was raining when we arrived so although the owner had intended to put us on a pitch in front of her property she decided to put us at the side where it was more of a hard standing which was fine by us. She was very welcoming and showed us where to fill up and empty the toilet etc. There is a road at the side of the property that leads to another farm and there were lorries full of carrots passing by - clearly the time for harvesting them but didn't bother us too much. There is a lovely pub within walking distance of the site which serves great food and the staff were friendly too. We'd definitely stay here again if visiting St Andrews.
