Excellent site made to feel very welcome on arrival. Site and facilities very clean and tidy . Although near a main road and rail line this didn't make any difference to our stay here. Will definitely be visiting again in the future .
We used this site as a stop off to a wedding we were going to in Wales. Great site, great facilities. Easy access to the canal for walking but cycling is a bit rough. Â Lichfield Cathedral is well worth a visit as is Erasmus Darwin House opposite. Excellent facilities, agree the road and railway noise is a bit off putting but this site is well worth the visit so don't be put off.Â
We chose this site purely for location and weren't disappointed. Â Site is well maintained and facilities are excellent. Â If you are sensitive to noise there is both road and rail noise (24hrs) which I found quite intrusive for the first night. Â Local pub The plough has very good food and drink. Â Lovely walks along tow path. Â National Arboretum is only a 10 minute drive away as is the lovely city of LichfieldÂ
Really lovely site. On arrival we decided to park on the hardstanding, the facilities are the same for both parts of the site. We wanted to visit the National Memorial Arboretum and that is only 15 minutes away.
Chris and Judith are very welcoming and helpful, we had left our power cable at home and they lent us 1 from their store.Â
The grass was well kept and the toiletShower room was very clean and nice and warm.
If we are in this area again we would definitely stay again
I booked the site in advance via e-mail, receiving a prompt and helpful response. I had hoped to arrive early so that I could spend the day on the canal with narrowboat pals and this was not a problem.
The welcome from Chris and Judy could not have been better, and Chris gave me a full tour of the amazing facilities - best CL ever, lots of space, and would put many so-called top campsites to shame. A fine pub, the Plough, just 15 minutes walk along the towpath. A real gem, and I will definitely return.
The site was easily found and security was very good. We were made very welcome and found the site well kept but due to recent rain some areas needed grass cutting. The facilities were among the best we have come across on a CL and the nearby pub was very good. Yes there was a little road noise but nothing to worry about. Would return.
We stayed here for 5 nights, lovely facilities, clean and well cared for. Friendly welcome on arrival with good explanation of how, where and what. The narrow boaters passed the time of day with us, all very friendly. Had lovely fellow caravans and mitochondria whilst we were here. There is some noise from a variety of transport, be it boats, cars, trains or planes but overall quite a peaceful site. The plough pub can be recommended but there are many others in nearby villages a short car ride away. We found our Sat nav didn't recognise the given postcode, so put in broad lane, huddlesford and that will bring you to the right road and a signpost. Site doesn't display a cl sign.
Our first ever exeprience of a caravan club site. Manager not very welcoming, more concerned with getting our money and tellng us off for not going straight to the office on arrival! Later in our stay we were asked when we were leaving and it was clear that she had got our booking wrong having expected us to leave the day before we had booked to leave and more or less implying that she had expected us to be gone. Not the friendliest of welcomes. It was a very cliquish site, everyone seemed to know each other but it didn't embrace new people. The site itself was a boxed in field needing mowing, it was mowed whilst we were there but cuttings not collected and in the heavy rain was messy. Strimmers were constantly going and the man doing the strimming forever looking to see if we were still there as our pitch was now overgrown and we were obviously in the way! We found this site quite oppressive. It didn't have any views, was quite noisy, the noise of trains and road was fine as we expected this but disturbance from grass cutting (incessant noise from strimmer not being used correctly). The Plough Pub down the road was brilliant and friendly, total opposite to the sites welcome. Showers were clean and tidy. Washing up area sheltered. This site was quite elitist, we inadvertently parked in a 'Gold Customers' parking space and was immdediately told to move it as it belonged to 'Gold Members only', an innocent mistake but didn't make us feel valued. Site is clearly a place where people live permanently on boats and we were the poor relation staying on their patch, won't be back.
Stayed for 4 nights to enable us to visit the National Arboretum. A lovely site with first class amenities, to have water and electric to each pitch, use of 3 toilets/shower rooms (one of which is a wet room for disabled use) at a CL is normally unheard of. We will make a return visit.
The caretakers also deserve a mention, very helpful and cheerful.
Loved it here. We were made very welcome on arrival and shown around. Water and electric for each pitch. The shower/toilet facilities were excellent and very clean. Lovely area with the canal boats on the marina and the canal. Great walk to local pub for food. Good location for places of interest including the National Arboritum which is worth a visit.
We didnt hear any noise from the A38 but the birds are very loud in the surrounding trees!
Will definitely be staying here again!
