Good friendly welcome and good introduction to a well laid out well equipped, clean and tidy site.
I actually stayed at the hard standing non cl bit, as it was during the floods and I didn’twant to be on grass,
I was there to work and good enough wifi to do that.
Canal on the doorstep.
No longer need to book for food in the pub.
Near to NMA and Lichfield.
I would definitely go again.
Two week stay during late July/ early August
We chose the CL for close proximity to a Whitemoor Lakes (where I was attending 6 nights for a Girlguiding event). The CL location was easy to find following the directions provided, and we received a friendly welcome on arrival. We were allocated a pitch on the CL, paid our £20 refundable deposit for a key to the shower/toilet block, and away we went with water and power on our pitch. We enjoyed the location for walks along the canal, including wandering to the local pub for drinks and dinner.
The CL pitches are located adjacent to the canal and are all grass, where the private caravan pitches were partially hard standing. During our stay the weather was inclement, and the grass pitches did suffer from being slightly ‘waterlogged’ and being muddy in places. On occasions there was some background noise from the nearby dual carriageway and the railway line, but not enough to disturb sleep or wake us up.
The individual shower/toilet rooms were okay, they were cleaned daily, but some of the showers would benefit from re-tiling and re-grouting to remove the ingrained mould. We were surprised to find the shower/toilet facilities were ‘shared’ with the marina boat owners and the private caravan pitches, but never found this to be a problem and never needed to wait. The on-site laundry facilities were located near the office, consisting of two washing machines and one tumble dryer, the entrance door would benefit from a sign indicating the laundry facilities were inside.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, and if we are visiting the area again we will look to use this CL.
Really pleasant
Lovely welcome. Nice and clean. Loads of space. Well thought out site. Great canal walk to pub. Felt safe and secure. Close to Lichfield. Great stay.
Love being near water.
Third Visit
Lovely CL , very friendly & relaxed. This is the first time we were able to stay on the CL, which we preferred. Quiet roads for cycling & only 5 miles from National Memorial Arboretum . Only downside was the excellent shower rooms were in need of cleaning. Very grimy!

Great for Dogs
CL was not available for all the nights we wanted so stayed on the commercial site on hard standing. Marvellous expanses of grass for dog walking and direct access to local footpaths and the canal towpath. Dog friendly pub 15 minutes walk away. 3 stars for access to local amenities as we didn't go off site but Lichfield and Burton aren't far, also the National Memorial Arboretum. Some background noise from main road and railway but never found it intrusive. The only potential downside is sharing the immaculate facilities with the boaters but we didn't have any queuing.
Great find
What a great find this site is. Tidy and well kept grounds with water and electric beside the pitch. Grass pitch could be a bit wet in inclement weather but excellent during our stay. Nice being able to watch the comings and going’s of the barges in the Marina and canal and a good pub a short distance away down the towpath. Large individual heated toilet/shower rooms and helpful and attentive staff. As it’s near to family we will definitely return.
last minute booking for NEC caravan show
We were looking for a site close to the NEC but not too close as most of the immediate sites will be full for this. After the recent awful rain i was advised to pitch on the 'commercial site' next door as it had hard standings. the itches themselves are not great, the hard standing is the width of a caravan with muddy grass that you have to step on when getting in and out of van. the whole site was tight and without a mover I am unsure how you would actually pitch up. I was unhappy that the facilities are shared with all the boaters and both sites. we were unable to get satellite as the trees are immediately behind you due south. there is a great pub 10 minute walk down the canal and the free wifi and serviced pitch was a bonus. I would return, but only when there has been prolonged dryness as it was too muddy.
A bit disappointed
The site was good but even though the CL was not busy the site on the whole was with there being another 11 pitch site and many permanent narrow boats at the site. The grass had not been cut in over a week and the facilities were not very clean. Ian the caretaker was great and did his best to sort out the booking mistake made by the site.
On the whole we were disappointed at £19.50 per night.
Cannot wait to return
Stayed here for 2 nights so that we could attend a concert at the National Memorial Arboretum. Very friendly and very helpful site managers.Got stuck in a traffic jam but a quick call to them allayed my fears that we would be stuck outside the gate all night!
Extremely well kept site, even after no rainfall for such a long time. Very good facilities. Huge grass pitches with your own EHU and Water point. A key to access the toilet/shower cubicles which were clean, spacious and the first time I have encountered 2 shower heads, both of which worked!! The key also unlocks the gate onto the tow path which runs along the back of the CL. Ten minutes walk along the path brings you to The Plough where we had an excellent meal at a reasonable price.
I also liked the fact that we had a code for the main gate which meant we could return from the concert at 11.30 and still get access, unlike other club sites where you are locked out at 11.
The Arboretum is 10 mins away, Lichfield is 10 mins in the opposite direction. Easy to get to in the van and a large supermarket easy to access. I liked Lichfield a lot!
The only small niggle is that there is a "hum" from the A38 which is not far away, but it is not intrusive and is hardly noticeable at night, and it means you have easy access to main routes.
I will certainly be returning. Thoroughly recommend it.

Great Weekend Stay
We have just returned from our 1st weekend stay at this site and we are not disappointed at all!
Unfortunately the CL was fully booked when we rang but we booked a pitch on the marina's private, hardstanding site which is within the same complex and the same price.
Upon arrival it was evident that the Marina was very well looked after and we especially liked the water points for each pitch making life just that little bit easier.....
The pitches are large and we have plenty of room for our 7m + motorhome and awning without feeling cramped and the CL was the same with plenty of room for 5 set up's without looking through one another's windows as you may see on some other CL's.
The facilities could not be faulted and accessible using the key (£20 returnable deposit required) and this also allowed access to the towpath where after a short, peaceful walk, takes you to the Plough Inn, however, we did not go in, this time, but I'm sure we will return.
The staff were so helpful and welcoming which always makes for a good stay.
Overall, a great location, great facilities, great staff and plenty to do (if you want to) ad already looking forward to our next visit.
