A warm Yorkshire welcome!

We left Hurries Farm a few days ago, after eight memorable days there. You couldn't ask for a quieter and more peaceful CL, and you couldn't ask for a warmer welcome than we received from David and Wendy and their animals - including Charlotte, a pet lamb, and three amusing rheas - yes, rheas - in the adjoining paddock. There is wonderful walking around, including the Three Peaks not far away, some delightful villages, and all town facilities in nearby Skipton. We hope we may go back some time in the future.

Wonderfully relaxing stay at Hurries Farm

Had a lovely stay at this cl site. The owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. David even took us on a trip round the farm on his buggy and we were able to watch the dogs rounding up the sheep and cattle. If you want a peaceful, relaxing holiday in farm surroundings and close to the pretty villages of the Yorkshire Dales, at a very reasonable price, then this cl site is to be recommended. We will go back!

We just keep going back!

We have been to Hurries Farm a number of times over very many years. A great site in a beautiful area not far from Mallam. Most pubs serve Timothy Taylor's Black Sheep - so its heaven. It's a quite working farm selling its own Aberdeen Angus meat, lamb and eggs. So take a big cool box to fill and take home. Chatty friendly hosts and rhea!

Peaceful and very friendly

Surrounded by fields with lambs, calves and even rheas (think Ostrich), this is really away from it all. We enjoyed seeing the farmer's dogs rounding up the sheep and the rheas and then collecting said rhea egg which is the size of a small rugby ball! Brought one home and followed the recipe displayed in the on site toilet, buying the extra ingredients from the nearby excellent Town End Farm Shop - delicious. The nearby village of Airton is about a mile walk and although there is no pub, we ate out at the local B & B, Lindon House, which does evening meals. Very reasonably priced, all local produce and very friendly people. All in all a lovely stay made memorable by Farmer, David, who took my husband off to feed the cows on his buggy one morning and allowed me to bottle feed a lamb.

Wonderful Site

We loved this site! It’s on a working farm in rural Yorkshire, approached by winding narrow lanes (you get used to it!) The hosts, Wendy and David, were very welcoming, and showed us to a level, gravelled pitch surrounded by hilly farmland. We had 3 rhea birds for neighbours, and looked forward David and his dogs coming to tend them every day, and they often stopped for a friendly chat too. There’s a fantastic Co-op in Gargrave , and a good fish and chip shop too! There’s also an upmarket farm shop with a cafe nearby. We came to walk in nearby Malham Cove and surrounding area, and were not disappointed! There are several great walks and a great pub! We also spent a pleasant day in Skipton. And enjoyed some fantastic home grown Aberdeen Angus steaks from the deep freeze; seriously good beef! We definitely want to come again!

Little Gem

This was our 1st time caravaning and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The place was spotless and the owners were very welcoming and friendly. The scenery and animals made this a beautiful place to stay and with the wonderful walks in Malham a few miles away we had a great visit. We enjoyed the Rhea egg omelette ( egg from the farm ) and the other local produce sold on site. Many Thanks David and Wendy :-

Wonderful CL

If you're looking for a quiet site near wonderful places to visit, stay here. Owners extremely friendly and helpful. Children loved being next to a field with 3 rheas with sheep and lambs close by too. Only had a toilet but that's clean and nearby.  The only CL which I've thought I'd definitely return to.

A taste of farm life

We have just had an excellent 9 days stay and if you want to experience a little bit of farm life then this is for you. The owner David is an absolute gem and will offer to take you out in his buggy as he goes about his rounds checking on his livestock. There are sheep, cows and rhea on the farm and whilst we were there six springer spaniel puppies that David brought out to see us each evening. A couple of points to note, dog walking is limited from the site, although speak to David and if poss he will let you use any of his available fields - and the roads to the site are quite narrow but this clearly doesn't put people off as it is a very busy little site.

New Year visit

Stayed over New Year 2014 when the weather was awful but this is nice little site and with a toilet and electricity included in the £12 per night is good value for money. I imagine it is a very pleasant place to be in better weather. David and Wendy are a very nice and chatty couple. The approach road from Gargrave is very narrow here and there and the sign to Hellifield in Airton is missing. As you enter the village from Gargrave look for the phone box on your right and turn left immediately opposite it. If it's raining use the higher level pitches as water runs downhill
