Peaceful stopover

Quick overnight stopover and a perfect location. Very peaceful in beautiful surroundings. Everything we needed from a site. Water, toilet, shower, grey waste disposal and electricity as a bonus. Lovely friendly welcome from the host. The facilities are basic but clean. A good CL stopover site.

peaceful

A truly peaceful and spotless site. The pitches were level and well kept. being on the Merlin Trail it allows for a little imagination as you take a stroll. Would definitely return to this site.

Welcoming and peaceful

Set in hills above Moffat. Access road narrow but passing places. Walks from site along river or quiet lanes. Yes, shower/toilet basic but all users can help keep tidy. Can be peak times for access, and you may have to beat the occasional group 'relay' system! Owner helpful and prepared a pitch to suit my vehicle. Lots of birds, shallows swooping and coos lowing. If you want a peaceful stay in lovely setting, and not needing all the add on facilities, try this site.

Beautiful rural site in the Scottish Borders - great for walks hills and cycling.

This lovely little sight was easily found even in the gloom of a November evening. Friendly telephone details with contact number if required. Shower toilet, water and emptying facility all on hand - and a hook up - just what was needed. Lovely views, working farms in the area, site fenced off from the road with a gate just what you would expect from a little gem like this. Thank you John and Fiona

Quite CL

We arrived just after just after dinner time, there was no one to greet us, we were the only one there, the approach to the site is a single track road with a few passing places, the toilet and shower are very basic, no heating and no shower curtain, toilet paper was down to half and no replacement was visible, there is no signs telling you where the drinking water is or the elsan point, there was dog poo on the grass, which by the look of it it had been there a while, I don’t know if the CMHC inspect these sites but I think someone should, also we were charged £23 for 1night, would we return I don’t think so

Not a great experience

We stayed for one night. The plots were level and well spaced with some electric hook-ups. Lovely scenery and tranquil views. Moffat seemed a delightful town but was some distance away. The one toilet/shower was dirty and extremely unkempt, the hot water in the basin didn’t work and you would have to be really desperate to use the awful shower. The pricing was unclear and the eventual £20 we paid seemed a lot for such poor facilities.

Winter Long Weekend

A beautiful little site with fantastic views and hungry birds, a full seed feeder gone in around half a day, but great to watch. The club website says "from £17.50" the actual price is £20.00 per night. For a very small site with 1 basic combined toilet and shower that has very limited heating and is in need of some love and decoration we felt this to be on the high side. That said it is on the list of those we would return to.

Beware the X5

This site has stunning views, is a great place for breaking up a long journey as its not far from the beaten track but still quiet and unspoilt, lovely walks on the doorstep and it easy to find. Mrs Long was lovely and helpful. However, you may have 2nd thoughts if you have young children as there was a BMW X5 that was frequently driven at breakneck speed along the narrow, single track lane that runs by the site. Since the road is a dead end and there was only a couple of farmhouses/residences down the lane from the site and the car travelled by at 'commuting' times I can only assume the driver is a local who regularly 'terrorises' the area.

a pleasant peaceful CL set in lovely countryside

We stayed one night recently. All necessary facilities. A really nice setting. Elizabeth, the owner, is lovely. Only a few miles outside of Moffat on the left hand side. We will definitely visit again. Moffat is a great base and has plenty of coffee shops, restaurants etc. Parking is free and there is usually enough. Very handy for the motorway yet far enough away that you cannot hear it.
