Nice site

Just returned from 4 nights. Only our 2nd ever trip away in our caravan. Having read Wilburs review I would have to disagree with pretty much all of it. My wife and I took our 2 daughters and niece (all beneath the age of 6). Stuart was only ever friendly and welcoming throughout. Each morning he said hello, long enough to raise any issues (which we didnt have) but by no way imposing. The site is level and well kept. Directly next to the caravans is a playing field for the children .It is fenced off and mowed. We found this to be ideal, as our children played for hours. As for noise, we were in bed for 9pm every night and never heard a peep from anyone. Admittedly the showers and toilets are dated, but always kept clean. I understand Stuart would like to update these, but having difficulty due to planning regs. Never more than 3 vans, no heavy traffic and no hammering heard. (we were the end pitch by the way, next to said workshop and busy road)

Definitely a CL worthy of several stars!

We have just returned from this CL having booked it at short notice. Initially I was concerned by the review of "Wilbur" but my concerns were unfounded. The site is easy to find and very quiet. There was a little noise from the workshops but having seen the bigger sites in the forest on our journey this was preferable to the noise we KNOW happens on them! It stopped not long after our arrival anyway (about 4pm). I think we only saw two vehicles use the drive that were not using the site so am a little unsure regarding the "heavy traffic". As with "Fred Perry's" visit there were no more than 5 units on site whilst we were there. Although not actually in the New Forest National Park it was easy to get to and the lovely coastline.....we walked the spit to Hurst Castle and followed this with a boat ride back to a well earned lunch at the Gun Inn. The facilities were cleaned throughout our stay and basic like many CL's as we have experienced, this is in no way is a criticism though. The owner was friendly and took on board my one concern regarding an issue with the shower when we stayed. My understanding is that our reviews go straight on this site without the owner having a chance to try and rectify any issues, especially if these are not brought to their attention during the visit. This leaves them open to negative reviews which may impact on their business, the worst case scenario being that owners may not continue to provide the wonderful service that most of them do. Long term this could mean less CL's. The Caravan Club would do well to change this system so that the reviews are checked before publishing and issues sorted out before they reach the public domain. After all we are all very quick to complain and not always forthcoming when praise is due.

Excellent CL site

Without wishing to upset Wilbur on their review but I have to completely disagree. We found Stuart Bailey (owner) very friendly on arrival and throughout our 5 day stay at this CL, on top of the friendly atmosphere Stuart is also very prompt at responding to our emails no matter how small or silly the question. The CL itself (although adjacent to a small workshop) is quiet and picturesque, offering close connections to the New Forrest, Bournemouth and Southampton. Our stay here (first time caravaners) has made the transition into a van worth the effort and will definitely return. At no point during our stay were there more than 5 vans on the CL site. Toilets and showers on initial impression are tired but then they were always clean. Definitely recommend this site

Over crowded noisy CL

Extremely disappointed with this CL. Very poor facilities not cleaned during our stay. More than the permitted 5 vans on 2 consecutive nights. Very noisy from attached workshops with hammering going on up to 11 or 12 at night. Heavy traffic going to/from workshops down shared driveway at speed & again at all times of day & night. Would not recommend this CL
