Winter visit

Alison and Ashley made us feel welcome during our stay. Even helping me to site the van, as the grass was quite wet and it was cutting up easily. She provided levelling blocks, which were needed. It was late January and the temperature did drop to -7c overnight, which caused us a bit of a problem. However Alison did everything she could to help us overcome the difficulties, until the temperature warmed a little. They both helped on other occasions as the need arose and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. It is a secure site, with the gate padlocked at the end of the drive. Handy for the local pub and walks from the site. Denby Dale is not far away with trains to Huddersfield and Sheffield. We were going to a surprise birthday party in Huddersfield and it was easy to get the train back and a taxi from Denby Dale to the site. Alison can recommend a local Taxi if required. All in all a good stay. Would like to go back in the warmer months, as I am sure there would be a completely different feel to the site.

Fantastic weekend stay 12th & 13th August

Fabulous little CL, lovely welcome from Alison & Ashley. Sloping pitch but leveling blocks provided. Peaceful site, clean and tidy with a locked security gate (key provided for you stay). The George pub (dog friendly) in the village is only a 5 minute walk away, everyone was so happy to chat and the homemade selection of pie n peas is a must. Will make Holly Tree Cottage a regular weekend trip as we are luckily only 40 minutes away. :)

Perfect peaceful location

Fabulous little CL, warm friendly welcome including eggs! Levelling blocks provided. Beautiful views & so peaceful. This lovely couple could not have been more welcoming. Ideally located for us to visit family in Huddersfield, but well away from the city, with access to many walks directly from the site. Easy access with caravan, countryside, without tiny narrow lanes! We will return when we are on our next family visit & will plan a drink/food at the local pub too! Thank you Ashley & Alison.

great CL

Just stayed for 8 days up to Easter. This site is all that a good CL should be, good pitches, good facilities. Great hosts in Alison and Ashley nothing is to much trouble for them. Their welcome and information pack is second to none many could learn from them. Access and Security are good, no narrow lanes or tight turns plus you hold the key to the entrance gate. Great pub 5 mins stroll, shop and another good pub in next village 5 mins car 10 mins cycle, Tesco in Penistone 3 miles.

What a find

Just spent 6 nights at this peaceful and quiet CL. Upon arrival received a typical friendly Yorkshire welcome from Alison and Ashley. Informative information pack given to us which some other CL sites could perhaps take on board. Will certainly return and have no hesitation in recommending .

Jingle Bells xx

Alison and Ashley make this site what it is, we have just returned after visiting over Christmas and the New Year. The basic amenities you require as a proper caravanner, personal key for the security gate so you know your caravan is secure and safe when not on site. Flat level grass pitches well cut grass and spacious pitches, but we did have the site to ourselves so it was like being in someones back garden,a big one at that! Local pub The George, within walking distance made us very welcome as outsiders, do pie and pea nights but were not able to sample them during our stay. Excellent views, plenty of cycling or walking in the area, and places to visit. Supermarket 2 miles away with local shopping. Alison and Ashley make this site like you were at home and will help you if you have a problem, nothing is too much trouble for them, a credit to the Caravan Club and all it stands for.

Lovely site

This is a little gem of a site, beautiful views, lovely and peaceful. Lock up gate with your own key that you have for your stay. Plenty of places of interest to visit, a very good friendly pub in the village. Most of all  the lovely people who own the site Alison and Ashley. First class cl

Highly Recommended

Just returned from this lovely site, easy to find, no narrow roads, access was good, locked gate, (key given) so secure. Lovely short grass plus small area of hardstanding. Wonderful welcome and Alison gave us some fresh eggs together with a welcome folder which contained details of places to visit, eat, maps, bus and train timetables, in fact everything we needed to know. Site was quiet and the Facilities were great, clean and tidy. Plenty of walks in the area, including the trans  Pennine trail. Local pub within 5 minutes walk. We found plenty to do in the area, can recommend the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and Cannon Hall. We will definitely be returning.

A good location, and a warm welcome

This is a lovely site. The site faces on to a field (with sheep during our stay) and then extensive views. There is a nice approach to the site through a short lane lined with trees. Alison couldn't have given us a warmer welcome. We only stayed one night and, just a 10 minute drive from the M1, it couldn't be more convenient. There is a good pub just down the road and another a short drive away. It's a good base for visiting a large number of places in South and West Yorkshire.
