Excellent CL

What an excellent CL! Alison and Ashley keep this site immaculate, stunning views and great location. 2 minute walk to the pub which has great pie and peas and lovely atmosphere that allows dogs, reasonably priced too. Would definitely come back.

Fabulous CL!

We stayed here recently for a couple of nights after collecting our new van as we wanted to make sure everything worked and to get us back into caravanning after a break of 10 years or so... Alison & Ashley could not have been more welcoming, friendly and helpful - absolutely wonderful hosts! The site is easily reached and access down a long drive could not be more simple - we had a great pitch under some small trees and within easy access of water & waste disposal. Alison provided an extension lead to allow us to hook up the electric and we were set... The local pub, The George, comes highly recommended - extremely friendly landlord and very welcoming locals, much as we've come to expect in our adopted home of Yorkshire! The pub does wonderful home made pies but do book up in advance as they sell out extremely quickly... All in all, this could not have been a better reintroduction to caravanning and reminded us why we always preferred CLs. Many thanks to Alison & Ashley for such a great stay!

Just Perfect

This is the first but certainly not the last visit to this site, it is quite possibly the nicest cl we have been on. The owners Alison and Ashley are so friendly and helpful but not in you face, even brought pet lamb Pippin for our granddaughter to see, a gem of a site, we will be back OFTEN.

Fantastic!

This was our first CL and our first trip out this year, with our new puppy, so a trial run....10 mins from home!!!! The weather wasn't very kind to us initially, but we still had a wonderful weekend, Alison and Ashley are the perfect hosts, with lots of useful information, even though we were local we still learnt lots! We came back fully refreshed and relaxed! The highlight had to be popping in to see the last lamb of the season, just after it had been born, the children loved that! We will be back! Thank you both for a wonderful stay - sorry the review is a bit late! :)

Excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay at Holly Tree Cottage. Lovely views,16 amp electric. We loved watching the sheep and little lambs in the field just in front of our van.,plus the Peacock which gave us a show of it's lovely tail colours a few times. We had a very relaxed stay,we didn't want to go home. We traveled on the train from Denby Dale (free car park) and used the local bus service. Had a great time at Pugneys Lake, while at the lakes don't forget to have a miniature train ride, also the National Coal Mining Museum is well worth a visit. If we are lucky enough to get a pitch next year we well be back. See you again in 2020

Top of the Tree for Holly Tree

Well all I can say about this little gem of a site are good things, from the day of booking last year communication was spot on. And Alison & Ashley were the perfect hosts and so friendly and so happy to stand and chat and fill you in about the surrounding areas and the history of their home. The site its self is spotless and the slight slope is nothing to worry about when pitching and blocks are provided if required. Its so peaceful there with stunning views, you even get the pleasure of a stunning Peacock coming to visit each day. My 2 daughters were lucky enough to experience bottle feeding 4 lambs that needed extra feeds as they were all triplets with Alison and Ellie. We went on some lovely walks and enjoyed the Gunthwaite Dam Spa walk with over 125 other locals and had tea, coffee and cakes at the dam then a steady walk back to Upper Denby to the George Pub where we all had their tastey Pie and Peas. All of the local people here are so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning to Holly Tree to enjoy this little treasure again. Well done Alison, Ashley and Ellie for letting us share your perfect CL site.

first class

What a great find. We arrived with ease, met by the lovely Alison. Although in a hurry she still took time to show us where everything was, and bring blocks for levelling. A small site with all vans facing the fields. so everyone gets the views. We were lucky enough to arrive during lambing, so spent hours watching the sheep. Before we left we were invited to see the newborn lambs born during the night, This was the highlight for me.We visited The Emmerdale studio's from here, Drove to the local train station. free parking. Train to Huddersfield , then changed trains to Leeds, Caught the bus to Studio's free with pass. It sounds complicated but it wasn't we had no problems. We also had a day at Dewsbury, called the biggest market in England, but it wasn't it was just a market, so a disapointing trip.We spent a day at Holmfirth, Last of the Summer Wine , and Where the Heart Is country and caught the old bus trip , a 10 mile round trip. pointing out various sites where filming took place and houses that were used. . There are numerous other places of interest within a few miles, That we had visited before. The Sculpture Park at Wakefield, outstanding place. The underground mine also in Wakefield. Local farm where the recent spring watch was filmed from. I can recommend to this site 100%. £14 a night as stated not advertised one price then charged another. Can't wait to return

Fantastic Site

Holly Tree Cottage CL is a fantastic site set in the lovely village of Upper Denby. The site is just off the main road through Denby, with great access to the site. The site has a locked gate, which you are given a key when you arrive with a folder of information of the area. You get a great welcome and Alison couldn’t do enough for you. The pitches are all grassed, with great views. The site is immaculate, with great facilities and recycling area too, which I couldn’t fault anything. 4 of the pitches we’re a little close, but did not put me off by this. I liked the idea of parking cars away from the caravan and kept the grass all in good condition. It also meant if you had kids, you didn’t need to worry about vehicle movement. The site is in a great location for walks and a good pub in the village (The George), which is 5 minutes away. If you walk a little further to Lower Denby, another pub called the Dunkirk was great for food and some good ales and gins. We will definitely return again, because this is exactly what we look for in a CL. Definitely a site I would recommend.

February 2019

We have just returned from this CL and what a gem, from the moment we arrived we were happy. The owners Alison and Ashley are the nicest, most friendly people you could wish to meet, the site is in a stunning setting and is the most peaceful place to be. We will definitely return here, as it is only 30 minutes from home. We are looking forward to a few summer visits.
