Useful as a stop off

Mrs Long is clearly very efficient, she was out when we arrived but made excellent arrangements to enable us to gain access via the multiple security gates. This is a useful site as a stop off as close to motorway links, including M5 and M42. Subsequently a fair amount of noise from the M42, bit disruptive especially emergency vehicles with sirens blaring. The kennels were VERY loud, especially at 7a.m.ish!! The photo is of a lovely view but if you look in the opposite direction the view is of scrap metal, junk, dilapidated buildings and the rusting, broken remains of a wind turbine, apart from the immaculately mown grass the site is very scruffy and unmaintained. Pitches 4 and 5 are next to the piles of scrap and rubbish. The grass is very well kept but only for walking on which is a shame as the five hardstanding pitches are not the most conveniently positioned around a roundabout which has metal stakes around the edge to make sure you don’t accidently drive on the edge of the grass. It was a handy site for what we wanted but will not be returning, even at only £10 a night (plus extras for a dog, awning etc.)

Cadbury World Stop Off.

We have just returned from a short stop off on the way home from Cornwall, taking in a visit to Cadburys World (6.2 miles away). We found the owner very pleasant, the security is excellent if not slightly off putting at first until we realised the farm operates a caravan storage facility. The site itself is large, large pitches level and very secluded. We didn't hear the motorway noise previously mentioned. Stunning views. Would return if we visit the area again.

Long weekend at Hill Farm

We have just returned from a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend at Hill Farm. Each time we spoke to Mrs Long on the phone and on our arrival we found her very pleasant and very helpful. We never found the electric gates a nuisance as we felt they made the site very secure which was good. Pitches 1 - 4 did have good views, 5 being a little restricted, they were all flat with hardstanding and room for caravan, car and awning. Did not find the dogs from the kennels down the hill barking a nuisance and could only hear the hum of the motorway if the wind was blowing towards the site. There was a toilet next to the owners house which was quite adequate. We found it an extremely good site for the price. Will certainly return to this site now we have discovered it.

What you see is what you get!

Mrs Long obviously takes great care and pride in her caravan storage business - if I needed storage I would use her facility (no idea of cost). Entry to the site is a tad irksome but it is secure! The owner can appear to be a bit "brusque" but she is also very efficient. The site does have some peripheral farm junk around about but it's not really a big problem - maybe for young children. The grass is well kept and, as mentioned in previous reviews, you are not allowed to drive on the grass, at all! A suggestion Mrs Long - remove the unsightly contractor stakes and replace with some nice rocks. There is a lovely view from pitch one and two to four would have if hedges were lowered a few feet. Pitch five is near the "junk". There is a little M42 noise if the wind is blowing towards the site. Down the hill is a dog kennels and there's LOTS of barking at feeding time (and collection time?). It's not all the time but can be of some nuisance. The site is very handy for the Lickey Hills, the Balti Triangle and Birmingham in general. We stayed for a 3 day weekend. Would we use again? Probably.

Secure site

The site is accessed by 2 large electric gates which are key fob operated and make for good security but make it a bind getting in and out. Instructions for our arrival were clear and friendly. There are 5 hard standing pitches but 2 are in poor locations, the other 3 have restricted views due to the bushes around the site. On entering the site you have to pass through a lot of discarded items which gives a poor impression. Access to the M42 is good and only a low hum can be heard from it. The lawn is kept nice and short.

Very unfriendly when I tried to book

When I phoned and politely asked if there was a pitch available, the woman nearly bit my head off with her snapped answer. There was no politeness or conversation just "we're full" then she hung up. I was made to feel that I had bothered her unnecessarily with my request. If this is the attitude on the phone, then you couldn't pay me enough to stay in the place. From the attitude I found, the caravaners feelings are obviously of no importance and neither is politeness.

Secure Views

Only stayed here one night, but it could easily been a week, excellent site, with picture perfect views, there are five hard-standing pitches and lots of grass (vehicles not allowed on the grass). We did not use the toilet so cannot comment. The site is very secure, entry by two great electric, key fob operated gates, didn't heart any road noise although you can sea a motorway about a mile away, good welcome. Would stat here again. No kennels now

Quiet and very secure site, with good connections to local attractions. The owner is a stickler for the rules, and nothing wrong with that! We would certainly come again. The dog kennels are no more!

Visit in Sept 2012.

Great site close to the M42 and Redditch town centre. A quite site with a warm welcome, very secure site with double gates and fob entry along with CCTV cameras at the main gate and down the drive.
